  • Eureka Seven fans rejoice!
Disclaimer this is NOT the original anime. This is an alternate retelling of the original source material with a much different ending. If you like the anime or manga this will definitely be a drastic difference on story but on its on it’s a very well written movie. Only complaint is I wish they would have given more time to develop the characters it felt rushed but still an amazing watch. ... show more

  • After the Shock . . .
. . . the movie's a winner! I was perplexed after the first viewing. I knew the movie was different than the series, I just didn't realize that most of the personalities of the characters would be changed like they were. Renton seems to have stayed the most like he was. Eureka still retains her qualities, except she is less naive and way more forward. Like calling Renton an "Idiot!". Most of the other characters are flipped to what they were. I was like "OK, what just happened?" Then I gave it a rest and a day later I watched it again. It ends up it's still the same heartfelt love story we all know from the series packaged with a new point of view. The "Making of" documentary included on the DVD and Blu-ray is well worth the watch. You learn from the director himself why he made the decisions he did and knew not everyone would be happy. Recommended ("ANIME: Storytelling at its best") ... show more

  • Absolutely Amazing!!
I have to say that I am VERY impressed on how fast it got delivered, and that I loved the movie as well. Eureka Seven was one of the very first anime I ever watched and I instantly was addicted to the characters in the story. So I just had to see the movie as well. Audio quality was good and it had both English and Japanese versions as well. All in all it is a wonderful purchase if you love anime and especially if you loved Eureka Seven. ... show more

  • Hey look they made someone's fanfic into a movie
This movie isn't bad because it recycles scenes from the show. This movie isn't bad because it's an alternate universe. This movie isn't even bad because it changes up the characters you know and love. In fact I wouldn't say this movie is bad. Entertainment is the purpose of viewing media, whether it's movies/tv shows, video games, music. I was entertained. I will give this movie that. But for fans of the show proper, this might not be your cup of tea. And even though I enjoyed this for the animation and the visuals, this movie falls short in a few very important key aspects. Mainly the writing. It really does feel like a fanfic author wrote this. And not to take a knock at fanfiction. I've read some high quality fanfictions that have professional quality writing. This movie however could have used a rewrite or two. In short I was entertained, but I would still recommend the show far above the movie. One viewing of this was enough for me, but I'll definitely rewatch the show. ... show more

  • A nice change from the original series.
Eureka Seven: Good Night, Sleep Tight, Young Lovers is movie remake of the original series Eureka Seven where the two main protagonist, Renton and Eureka, love for one another is tested as they are consistently torn from one another. Unlike the original series Eureka Seven: Good Night, Sleep Tight, Young Lovers provides a slightly darker tone to the series with more mature content and a few more deaths. The movie alters characters some that were once likable to trash and those who were once antagonist are now wise-all-knowing characters. People familiar to the series will find this a bit off putting, but might spark interest in those were turned off by the original's slow story development and emotionally confused characters will find Eureka Seven: Good Night, Sleep Tight, Young Lovers more likable. Characters now have clear goals and more emotionally stable as this story doesn't emphasize as much on growth as the original series, but more on romance and the length our protagonist are willing to go for one another. Because of this view will get to see a greater sense of Renton and Eureka's love for one another as now quickly put words into action putting aside the drama that became before it in the original series. If you want a good anime romance with some action in it and don't mind that if doesn't break new grounds you'll find Eureka Seven: Good Night, Sleep Tight, Young Lovers to be a very enjoyable and memorable ride. ... show more
