This is my second Copper Canyon. So, here we go. I have heard and seen comments about the material of the floor. I can’t totally disagree. But I have owned two of these and I have never had a problem with the floor. I have also ..except for a minute here or there to set things up… never actually directly set foot on the floor of my tent. And the bottom of my tent has never directly touched the ground. My tent always sits on a ground sheet. And I always put a 10 x 10 tarp on the floor of the tent as soon as I open the door after I set it up. Warning about ground sheet/footprint: This tent has what is called a bathtub floor. Although it is a 10 x 10 tent if you go by common wisdom and buy a 9.5 x 9.5“ ground sheet or footprint you’re going to end up with problems. You will end up with water between your footprint in the bottom of your tent, and this will cause you some condensation and other problems Your ground sheet needs to be no more than 9 x 9. Mine is 8.5 x 8.5. If you don’t understand the concept of a bathtub floor, I don’t want to get into it here. Other than to strongly advise you to not buy the footprint for this tent and to create a ground sheet that is no more than the dimensions I mentioned. Inside. The floor of this tent is 10 x 10. When you are standing up in this tent at nose level if you look around the tent, it has only slanted into about 9 1/2 x 9 1/2. The walls are virtually straight. So basically you have a 10 x 10 bedroom. Most people don’t have 10 x 10‘ of uncluttered unused space in their bedrooms at home. We have furniture, we have beds, etc., etc. I use this tent by myself with my 80 pound dog. I think it’s good for two people. I think that the rating tent makers give up as far as how many people their tents are meant for are hilarious. There is enough room in the tent so that with my mattress on the floor, my dog‘s pretty pretty big bed on the floor, there is still lots of room for me to sit inside with a side table without feeling claustrophobic if it’s raining outside. If you have one of those chairs with foot extensions, you’re more than fit . If you are going camping for a couple of days, maybe three or four and don’t wanna bother putting up a rain canopy. You will love this tent. It is so roomy inside. There is an opening for an electrical cord. I use this tent in temperatures as low as the mid 30s at campgrounds where I have electrical hook ups. I use safe space heaters. And there are such things. Do you keep this in mind: the top of the tent is screened. It’s meant that way so condensation gets out. If you’re going to use it in the winter time, make sure you take a tarp and throw it over the top of the tent. This can be set up by one person. You’ll have a little trouble getting the fly over the top. A great hint/work around is this: Each guy ropes for the rain fly stuff into a little pocket. Put a rock in the pockets. It gives you enough weight to throw the tarp over the top. This is my second copper Canyon. My understanding is they discontinued this tent and the newer version is about $150 more. I have taken a look at it on multiple websites and I absolutely do not see anything is worth an additional 25 bucks let alone 150. It is virtually the same tech with a new name. If you’re able to get your hand on one of these I suggest you buy it. If you’re looking at this review because you’re looking to buy a used one from someone. Set it up. Make sure it is in good shape. And buy it before someone else does. I’ve also seen where people say it doesn’t hold up to wind. I use it to camp on top of the Blue Ridge Parkway. There’s a campground on top of Mount Pisgah. When it rains there, it rains pretty hard. I’ve never had a problem. I will say that over the years. I have had to use a towel to wipe up a little bit of water that gets in when I open the door. I don’t wanna mislead you. I also see where people complain about the way the doors zip. With that, I agree. The doors can be a pain in the butt. However, like anything else you get used to it. They are certainly very, very, very far from being a dealbreaker All in all, this is an amazing tent. You are basically bringing a 10 x 10 bedroom with you. ... show more

Awesome tent, very light weight. My initial impression was a little skeptical but went camping in the Colorado mountains and it poured rain even though the bottom seems super flimsy there was no rain seeping in. Easy to assemble and disassemble. The size is awesome my husband is 6’5” and this is the first tent he can actually stand up in. We also bring a large dog kennel that fits very comfortably inside with space to spare. Definitely a summer tent doesn’t retain heat very well but we didn’t purchase that with any other season beside summer in mind. ... show more

Great tent!! Super sturdy. Lots of room. Lots of head space and keeps the rain out amazingly. The reason it isn't 5 stars is that 1) It is NOT user friendly to set up with only one person. You definitely need two for easy set up. I bought it for me and my daughter, not really thinking she is still a bit young and small to be of much help. 2) Although it seems very sturdy in most places (reinforced zippers, pole connections, and anchor points) the floor seems thin and I feel might wear through. 3) Its heavy. You won't be packing it in anywhere. 4) You're going to want to buy better tent stakes. it comes with the super thing metal ones that bend as soon as you hit anything other than super soft dirt. ... show more

This review is probably moot as I ordered this tent in late Dec 2025 after Eureka was out of business and the Amazon stock was down to four of these 6 person Copper Canyons left. I got this thing on sale for $120 shipped to my door. I started putting together a car camping kit for 2 a year or two ago for my wife and I, as our children are getting older we plan to start doing more duo trips, and we always enjoyed sleeping in tents when it was just the two of us. I've had multiple small campers, and many many different tents through out my life time. I've owned many Eureka and other tents from the cheapest to most expensive. This is a great tent. I don't see the zipper on the door being any worse than on any other tent, I'm not sure what people who complain about it are expecting. I think it is great. The windows do not have zippers, I like this design and am excited to try it out, the bottoms are stitched up to catch moisture and run it back out, I'm sure these would leak a bit in a hurricane but I don't think it would be that bad. I've never been in a tent that stayed completely dry in a heavy storm, I keep my bedding off the tent floor and a spare towel handy for small puddles. I think these window covers will be cool and much easier to use than zippered ones. All structural poles are metal and the four hubs are very thick solid plastic, really nothing to break. I saw one pic of a cracked fiberglass pole in a different review, this is just the pole that holds the awning part of the rainfly out from the structure, it has nothing to do with the frame and my rainfly pole came shipped perfect and I don't expect to break mine. Bathtub floor is the same material every Eureka tent I've ever owned has had. I find it far superior to the thick tarp floor found on many low to mid level tents. I have always preferred this type of floor, they stay drier, cleaner, are lighter and dry out quicker. It is per your preference or what you're used to. You should definitely use a ground cloth on any tent, I intend to make this nice for my wife and will have a lightweight rug that covers the interior of the tent too. This tent has tons of ventilation with a completely open screen top. It'll be great for 9 out of 10 trips. If its cold and windy while you're using this you better have a good sleeping pad and bag. This is not a hot tent and was intended to be one. My suggestion would be to just cancel the trip or go to a hotel with a hot tub in this scenario. I do find it extremely sturdy for a cabin tent, and thats just in my basement without being stake down and guyed in. I have a 11x14 cabin tent from WalMart I purchased two years ago for $140 to sleep 15 12 year old girls in our backyard for a slumber party. This Eureka Copper Canyon is three times the build quality of that huge cheap cabin tent, but I'm glad to have that one, the kids can destroy that one in the back yard. I am going to have no trouble fitting two camping cots in here with a table to two in between. We'll be able to fit two chairs too. Depending on the size of the chairs it could start to feel a little tight, I wouldn't go more than that. We'll probably opt for a luggage stand instead and keep the chairs outside. you can sit on the cots for changning and utting on foot wear. Has gear lofts in center, gear pockets in two opposite upper corners that you can reach while standing up, a hook in the middle for a lantern/fan and a power port at the front lower corner for a cord. I'm so glad glad I pulled the trigger on this. Its like I bought the last Eureka. My son was teasing me, he said it might be worth $50 as a collector in ten years. I told him it might be, if its not all mildewed, torn, or mouse chewed by then. LOL A little note. I did a five thousand plus mile trip in a Highlander towing a small Travel Trailer with a family of four a few years ago. We spend between 5000 and 6000 dollars on gas at an average of 13 MPG, and I thought that was really good. I custom built the trailer, it weighed 1600 lbs empty and 2200lbs loaded. You can't buy one that light. I was playing with the idea of an Aspen or Bunkhouse motorcycle camper for my wife and I behind something like a Toyota Corolla. I'm trying to move the two of us across the country with good fuel economy. The tiny pop up campers still pull fuel economy, the tires are always going bald, you need to carry spares, etc... Believe me, I've done this before too. With this tent, a mid sized 12v DC Fridge/cooler, a cook box, a couple cots, luggage and bedding in a Toyota Corolla I believe my wife and I are going to be able to tour the country at about 40mpg only worrying about oil changes every 5000 miles and tires every 50,000. Instead of 5-6K at 13mpg we'll pay 1-2K for the same distance traveled. It is not like you don't have to set up a camper. This makes more sense to more people who are trying to travel further than a couple hours away from home. Happy travels. ... show more
