I was finding that my cameras were running out of battery power faster than I'd hoped, probably from enabling HomeKit features. So instead of continuing to charge them now and then with a big battery and cable outdoors (I don't like to take them down and re-aim them), I decided to try Eufy's solar panels. I did consider some third-party solar panels because of the lower cost but what really pushed me to the official Eufy solution was that they took care to include a rubber seal to keep water from getting into the connection. In fact, they included multiple seals to provide for all of their camera models. This was a fact that I had a hard time figuring out online before buying so I'm uploading a picture to help clarify that. The other picture I'm uploading is a picture of the cord management. I could see that the solar panel came with a long cable but I could find no information about how to deal with extra that I didn't need. I thought I might have to use wire ties or something. But I was pleased to see that the back of the panel includes a place to wind up the extra cable. I really appreciate the value brought be those simple, but thoughtful, features. After running with solar power for a while I can see that the camera batteries are gaining in charge. They do charge somewhat slowly, which is fine because it's plenty to outpace the power the cameras are using. The only thing I wish they had included is a longer, possibly curved mounting arm to get around the gutter and above the roof line to point toward the sun when mounted on the north side of my house.

Bought these in June. Worked great till one recently stopped charging camera. I thought it was blocked by vegetation but, discovered it had ended up leaking some water inside. Called Eufy and was able to get a replacement underway in about 20 min!! I like all their systems and have them at 2 properties and they have been very reliable. Was very impressed with customer service person Ashley, also.

I installed a Eufycam 3 with the integral solar panel 4 months ago. The necessary location is not optimal for sun exposure. Even here, in south Florida, it was barely able to maintain 91% or so charge with almost no use of the integrated spotlight or even active monitoring. I am certain the charge would have continuously declined if I made any consequential use of the camera and its features. I was very hesitant to buy this solar panel because it strongly appears intended for previous camera models and only force adapted to this much newer camera. Nevertheless, I installed it last week and almost immediately the camera now seems to easily maintain a 100% charge. Although the panel is only a few feet away from the camera, it gets significantly longer and better exposure to the sun. I also do not know, because Eufy is annoyingly vague about this, if the internal battery is now fully dependent on the external solar panel or now both the integrated panel and external panel both contribute energy to charge the battery. Nevertheless, it appears to work great in spite of my fears that this panel was just a Eufy make do solution with an older product. I also do not know yet how truly water tight this solar panel is but to see good sun it is necessarily directly exposed to any rain. The heavy rains associated with the Florida summer afternoon thunder storms are now beginning to start so I am hoping it is indeed watertight.

UPDATE : 2 months later and this no longer charges the camera. Thought it was the shade moved it charged fine then next day ZERO. moved it several times put it in the sun plugged it into other cameras and it doesn't work. ๐คจ It only lasted 2 months. Not good. ๐ ORIGINAL REVIEW: I was able to mount this on the side of my garage. The cable was just long enough with the adapter. ๐ซจ It's a USB micro to usbc adapter. Everything fit just right. I ran the cable under the soffit which was easy. Mounting the solar panel was also easy. The mount is metal not plastic. Please don't rust. ๐ It's painted so it should be good. It comes with quite a few adapter plugs for different cameras and the adapter was a 90deg fitting which fit perfectly with a wall mount camera. I was worried about the spacing on the back but there was enough space.๐ซก One pic shows the charge of the camera which was really low with use. You can see one of the green bars up and that was when I turned the camera off to charge all day. The other green bar that is way up is this solar panel. ๐ณ with camera use all day. It only dropped to 96%. Before it would drop into the 80s and 70s with a few hours of use. So far I'm happy with this. You need one of these to get direct sunlight if you have your camera mounted in shade. I didn't give this 5 stars because of the price. There are so many other solar panels that cost way less with more power but I don't know how well they work. Also it's not usbc but they give you an adapter which in my case worked out but less plugs is better with less chances of water intrusion. Good stuff so far the build quality is nice. We'll see how long it lasts and if it continues with zero issues for the next few years ๐ซต๐
