  • Great security system for apartments and small spaces.
After almost a year of use of Eufy alarm system I would say its a great system for limited purpose. It will NOT replace an exterior alarm system. The sound of the alarm is low, which is great for apartments or if the use will be more for monitoring than deterrence. Here I share some pros and cons. Pros: • Door sensor can be used as door chime. • Easy and quick setup. • Small and lightweight. • Quickly notify any setup event to the phone. Even when the Homebase is not working properly (see cons). i.e. if a door is opened a notification is received within a second. • Schedule modes, setup multiple users/ passwords. Cons: • Homebase reliability: Once in a while I have had to restart the Homebase because the chimes are not working. I have been unable to restart the homebase thru the App even though it has an option. • Automation limitations: Some devices can be linked to the Homebase, others can not. Read carefully before purchasing. But it is easy to control each device within the App. ... show more

  • Batteries were DOA - And A Few Suggestions
Nice little system for the money. For design, I'd give this 4.5 stars, taking off half a star for the low alarm volume, as the other reviewers said. It is weird they don't have an add-on siren. I have not tested the motion detector as extensively as I would like to, but it seems to work fine, and I like the fact that the sensitivity is adjustable. The door sensors were easy to use. I found the manual a bit irritating-- both the online version and the paper version. I would have liked more detail: Does the system send a signal to the base station through wi-fi, some other RF frequency, or is the wi-fi just used to send the alerts? But I was able to get it set up, once I figured out that the batteries were dead and I had to order new ones. Minor quibble. The biggest issue is that the batteries were DOA, so you're not really getting a $150 system on sale for $110. To get decent batteries, you'll have to pay at least $10 to $15. So let's say it was $125, and still a good deal for that price. -- You will want an UPC (uninterruptible power supply) for the home base unit and for your wi-fi if you have a breaker box outside. And if you're going to be away for a while, I'd disable the alarm on that UPC. So if the thief shuts off power to your unit, they won't hear the alarm of the UPC, and will probably figure there's no power to the alarm system. And be wrong-- if they break in, the system should still work, still sound the alarm, still send you a notification. -- I think the alarm volume could be solved, though it would cost some money: Get a little guitar amp, either with a rechargeable battery or on another UPC, get a little lavalier microphone (that is the correct impedance for the input, which will be a PITA), put the mic under the Home Base, and just leave the amp on, cranked up, all the time. ... show more

  • Great starter system
I am happy with the eufy system so far. It was very easy to set up and the app is user friendly. The security options are excellent, and additional devices (door sensor, motion sensor, camera) are easy to add and install. There are numerous videos and FAQ's to guide you if you need help. You can self-monitor or you buy a monthly subscription. I really like that you can arm/disarm the system on a keypad or from your smartphone. Almost very feature is customizable; for example when you want alerts sent from different devices. The eufy is an incredibly versatile system and very affordable. ... show more

  • Works as advertised
It was very easy to install. The instructions were good. Works as expected. No issues so far. I wish the package had a couple more additional sensors, I had to buy 2 additional ones.

  • number of flaws
The media could not be loaded. First of all for an alarm that has to be set up by a regular consumer who is not technologically advanced, this thing is very poorly designed. It requires you to plug this in into an RJ45 jack that is on the same network as your phone app. In the booklet it says something about installing it wirelessly but it does not allow that at all. The siren sound set on maximum is nothing short of a joke. Literally funny so quiet. There is no external siren available. There's no wireless siren available. You have to search around which I had to do for about 2 hours to find an exit an entry delay. Ridiculous It talks too much notifies too much when you don't need it to notify you every time somebody opens and closes the door. You have to go look for all these things and turn them off one by one When you try to arm it if a door is open it asks and demands a bypass which it does not say how to do it but you have to basically press the check mark within 3 seconds of it asking you otherwise exits arming The motion sensors blink all the time even if the system is off. The main unit or hub does not have battery backup. It does not have an input for battery backup. It does not allow for any options in that way No glass break sensor is available No panic button is available It cannot make up its mind how to disarm it. Sometimes you can just put in the code. Sometimes you have to put in the code and then the check mark and then the off button. Sometimes it requires just a combination of two. It talks a lot but what's interesting is sometimes the talking becomes garbled The system is not cheap. It requires hours to set up. It is finicky and complex with an app that is all over the place with complexity I'm not sure if I will keep it now that I have set it up after hours of investment I will try it for a few days. ---- update I have decided to keep it. Regardless of the fact that it's missing things like panic button which is very important, and the sound is so low for the alarm that simply allows stereo will drown it out and there is no extension for Siren, there are a few good things about it Without having to purchase a monthly service, the app allows me to control it from the phone as well as the keypad. I like being notified on the app what is happening I like how the keypad display lights up when I come near it so I can see the buttons The motion sensors are tiny and very easily aimed at the Target area The door sensors and the motion sensors beside being tiny have good enough range that cover my entire house without any issues Because of the lack of battery backup I purchased a UPS, which is uninterruptible power supply. It allows the base unit to continue functioning for about a half a day if power is cut off I can set what this thing does in each mode individually I started with two stars, but I have added one more star. Unfortunately it's still missing two stars for the two powerful reasons of not having battery backup and the siren being so quiet and no wireless extension for the siren ... show more
