The media could not be loaded. We’ve tried a different child lock before that ended up being a flimsy, weak device and it eventually popped off and even pulled paint when it failed (one of the photos I’m including shows that old broken one for comparison). This lock is the opposite. It’s legitimately sturdy. The adhesive has held securely on our fridge, the latch feels solid, and it takes a deliberate press to release and a toddler can’t just yank it open. I’m including a video of me tugging on it hard and it stays put. Install was simple, it looks clean, and it’s easy for adults to use once you learn the motion. This is absolutely worth every penny if you’re tired of childproofing products that don’t hold up in real life. If you want the safest wording possible, avoid “failed” and say “a different lock we tried peeled off and damaged paint; this one has held securely.” The draft above is already in that lane.

AsDue to the curiosity of young children, I have installed these refrigerator locks in three separate homes. They are fast and easy to install. They will definitely keep curious children out of the icebox. The only reason I did not give it five stares is.I have found with each application.The glue tins to break away after 4-5 months. I suggest that you thoroughly clean the area with rubbing alcohol prior to the application of this product. If the product becomes loose, you can reapply a thin level adhesive.

After a freezer door didn't latch properly and food was lost, I ordered these for both freezers, They work great. I like them so much I just got one for my bottom freezer door on the kitchen fridge because freezer door is easy to open and I'm afraid the grand kids can pull it open/ajar accidentally and I might not notice right away. Easy fix. There is one thing to be careful of - there is a slide button (on the side of the lock) that disables the lock. There can be a problem disabling the lock unintentionally. If you use first and fourth fingers (easiest) on the push buttons to unlock the lock to open your freezer door, your middle finger can drag across that slide button and slide it forward when you didn't mean to. Fortunately my one big freezer has an alarm on the door if it is ajar. It did happen - I thought freezer door was shut and locked but something in freezer was keeping it from staying closed tightly and the lock did not engage. When the freezer alarmed I found that slide button forward instead of back - I had disabled the lock without meaning to. Now when I shut the freezer door I just take a second to pull on the door again to MAKE SURE it is locked. If it isn't, it it always that slide button I need to check.
