Perfect balance for hammering nails...that's the main job of a hammer...but...I found out the hard way not to get any solvents on the black paint on this hammer, the paint is easily removed. Granted, a hammer is going to get dinged around in use by it's very nature, but when I tried to remove the gummy adhesive residue from the warning stickers on the painted portion of the hammer's handle, the isopropyl alcohol began to remove the paint. It worked fine on the bare metal on the top of the hammer, but what ever you do, don't get any solvents on the black paint. Fortunately, I realized my cloth was turning black in time to stop rubbing, but the photographs make the hammer look much better than it does in person. I gave it a coat of gun oil since this paint they use probably won't do much to prevent rusting. Overall a great hammer with one caution about caring for it's appearance.

The photos in the listed advertisement for the product show a smooth striking surface on the head of the hammer. This was carefully selected and added to a wish list by my husband. I ordered it for my husband. Not only was THIS wrong, but the handle appears to be "chewed" up and ruined. This is supposed to be a new hammer purchase and it looks like s***. I have to return it.

Compared to the old school typical estwing hammer this thing is wayyyy better. I feel I have more control with less effort when swinging, I feel my accuracy has improved greatly but it could just be that I feel so cool with this hammer it just focuses the chi. I bought this hammer for the nail set and I’ve always had estwing but I was surprised at the difference in feel and control.
