I was wondering how this product would turn out because I read mixed reviews. I have used Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation for the last 20 years! It has always been my favorite for my oily/combination skin. When they changed the formula, I was REALLY worried that it would no longer work for me. I went ahead and ordered it to give it a try. The color was just a tad bit darker but still looks great. I could tell it seemed to be a bit more full coverage and to have a little bit more of a Dewy/shine to it. Immediately I got lots of compliments. I was even told by one of my friends that I looked younger. She wanted to know what I had changed. The new formula gives more of an airbrushed look. The only downside is that I have to use makeup wipes to help take it off at the end of the day, but that’s because it’s 36 hour wear, and it’s definitely full coverage. When I’m outside in the full summer heat my makeup completely stays on! It’s definitely worth trying. I definitely will continue to buy it and recommend it! ... show more

New formula is great. Does what it promises. It is much thinner and a bit tacky but then it goes away when it settles down, it does give you a blur affect when it settles/dries down and it definitely closes your pores and plumps your skin. It is not as drying as the original formula. The color is the same, although there’s just a slight very slight difference. ORIGINAL: Brighter masks color and not hydrating NEW: Brighter second skin looking and softer, hydrates and plumps. That’s the only difference. AS YOU CAN SEE IN PICS PICK A: My pores are open and I just applied one thin coat. Best place to test is the nose where the light hits the most and if it blends with your cheek tone, then it’s for you. PICK B: it has settled in and dried. Pores are closed, blur affect has kicked in. Skin feels hydrated. BEST PART IS THE FOUNDATION IS FLEXIBLE AND MOVES WITH YOUR SKIN, AS WELL IT DOES NOT SETTLE INTO WRINKLES or MRIONETTE LINES or AROUND SMILE MOUTH LINES or EYE WRINKLES. Truly stays in place and it doesn’t budge. Order your original shade you will notice a slight very slight difference, but it’s still the same good quality as far as pigmentation and in fact, although it is thinner, it is buildable and pigmented very well. Buy it you won’t regret it. It’s the best foundation. For reference, I am 60 years old, use 3W2 Cashew and have been using Estée Lauder for many, many years. I’ve been using Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation for years, but about a year ago I finally discovered the secret to making it work beautifully on mature skin! I saw a video where makeup artists recommended using Embryolisse Lait-Crème underneath it, and wow—what a difference! Double Wear has incredible staying power and a matte finish, but because my skin can be a little dry, I sometimes found that it would cling to the drier areas and make them more noticeable. Using Lait-Crème underneath completely changed that for me. The foundation goes on so smoothly, doesn’t settle into or emphasize dry areas, and still lasts all day. The result is a beautiful, natural, flawless-looking finish that doesn’t look heavy or overly matte. If you love the staying power of Double Wear but have mature or slightly dry skin, I highly recommend trying this combination. It’s been a game changer for me! ... show more

I love this reformulation! I accidentally ordered a color that is too dark and orange for me, but I've not been drinking my carrot juice to retain the glow I love, so I've reverted to my snow white skin. I'm going to add the rest of my original, pale one to this bottle and I'm sure with powder it'll be perfect. In the meantime, back to carrot juice I go! Either way, I love this foundation. The original, on me anyways, always broke down. I stopped using it until this new formula emerged because it didn't sink into my skin the way I wanted it to. It looked like a mask in some areas, but in others performed beautifully, with or without powder. Now, this formula doesn't even need powder, technically, unless I go outside in the heat and humidity for an extended time. The finish is gorgeous- natural satin on me. I put the foundation on with my foundation brush, then patted it into my skin with a Chinese makeup sponge, dry, then let it set for 5 minutes before adding my cream blush, cream contour, lipstick, and a little setting powder. This foundation sets down into my skin and acts like a tint. It doesn't set on top. It's fabulous, and highly smudge/ transfer resistant. I can hug my husband without staining his shirts, or getting powder all over him! I adore that they've added skincare ingredients to the new version, honestly. Reason being, I love trying to ensure that everything I eat, wear, do, drink, nourishes me. As well, I live in Florida. Putting anything except a strong primer under any foundation will guarantee failure. Beyond that, a lot of people, including professional makeup and skincare experts, don't know the basic fact that putting anything on your face under your foundation automatically runs the explicit risk of sheering out or breaking up your makeup that you put on top. I almost never recommend putting anything between the skin and the liquid and or cream products. This formula is thicker and richer than the first, classic formula. It's a medium coverage that doesn't sink into the lines that I do have, and doesn't make powder bunch up into them. I love that. I think I'm going to go purchase one of their matte lipsticks and lip liners honestly. This is the best foundation I've ever used. I only knocked off a star because of the orange tint. I bought a 2 or 3N shade and it's way off in color. ... show more

I constantly have a habit of touching my chin. This makeup stays in place and doesn’t settle into your pores which is especially great for those of us over 50. This makeup allows you to build coverage and doesn’t cake. I was able to find my perfect shade and I use it every day. I do wish it came in a pump bottle but overall this is my go to foundation. I used Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation for 20 years and I was shocked to see the drastic change that was made in the formula. Like so many others, I had problems initially with the new formula and I was close to giving up on it when I discovered some simple changes that made it work SO MUCH BETTER! This new formula is not as drying as the old one, but with the old formula you could use almost any moisturizer and sunscreen with no issues. That is not the case with the new formula. The moisturizer, primer, sunscreen, etc. that you put under this foundation must be silicone based and CANNOT contain oil. Once you use oil-free products under this foundation it works well. I just returned from Paris on a 10 1/2 hour flight and the foundation held up well. It looked natural and wore well. I think that 36 hour wear is a bit of a stretch, but I will continue using it as I have tried every other foundation out there and I always come back to Estee Lauder Double Wear. I love it. My complexion is even, and I promise you you (can sleep in it) not that I would recommend it because of skin care routines… However, you can. Honestly, I have went three days, & nights& the makeup look almost as fresh, as I applied it two days prior… Only thing I needed to do was, apply some eyebrow & lipstick… The makeup is worth every dime, it delivers… I wouldn’t embellish anything… Because I have been an advocate fan of Fashion Fair, for numerous years… However, they discontinue the shade that I was wearing, and it was so hard to find fashion fair products,… I don’t know if they exist today… I’m so grateful for Este , and she’a women of color, friendly… I promise you you won’t regret a Purchase… I’ve been with her for 3 1/2 years now, and I always order two bottles… Because I’m on the go constantly, however, for the normal person that their life isn’t so demanding… If you’re wearing make up once, or twice a week, one bottle will do, & very little application… The way I applied I take my hand running another sink water in my bathroom, fly to my face pad it all over my face… Take my application brush for justice midget on the back of my hand that my sponge into it start applying over my face. Let it sit for about 30 seconds and if it doesn’t look the way you want apply a little more… I promise you, a little coverage goes a long way.
