I've always loved dark matte polish. Finding those is almost impossible these days, so I've tried a couple of matte top coat, and they were all between bad and terrible. This one isn't. This one is magic. Your polish becomes matte a few seconds after application - by the time you get to the fifth nail, the first one is already done - and dries completely in a minute. Super easy to apply in one swipe (the brush is thick and wide), no smudge. It goes on like any regular top coat, it's that easy. The results is a great matte, with no lines, no bubbles, no artifacts. As I'm mostly using dark polish, it seems to make the actual color easier to see, maybe a little less dark? The only thing I can't comment on is the longevity, both of the matte effect and of the polish in the bottle, but I'll be sure to update my review after I've used it for a while. [Edit] I kept the manicure in the pics for more than a week. No chipping (but that's probably due to the GTG top-coat). Some people have commented that the matte effect wears off. It does NOT, however it will show any kind of greasy stuff on your nails, unlike natural nails or shiny polishes. Just washing your hands will solve that problem (or use some alcohol pad). First picture is Expressie Now or Never with Good To Go top coat. Second picture is the same with one coat of Matte About You, two minutes later.

perfect matte top coat. i never use any other matte top coat because this one dries really fast — as in like 1 minute — and it does exactly what you’d want it to do.

The media could not be loaded. This did not come in a box came wrapped in paper, but I think it did a pretty good job. I was just testing the product so my nails aren’t painted perfectly was working out in the garden and decided let me do a quick review.

It works, and I like how quickly it dries but it does need reapplying to stay matte-looking. During my weekend trip, I had to add another coat because the nails looked shiny again after a couple days.

(My photos dont do it justice, not even close. The nail polish I have on has begun to peel and its old with many indentations and screw ups. Believe it or not this top coat made it look so much better so dont judge it on the way my nail polish in general looks application wise, just judge how matte and soft it is. SO SOFT!!) ; I'm seriously in disbelief with how amazing this nail polish is. When getting a matte nail polish I went and watched a favorite YouTube of mine (simplynaillogical) to find out what was what she said "the best." This was the product that she recommended and I'm so happy I gave it a try. Normally matte nail polishes, you can see every streak and mistake but this matte top coat is seamless. It is so smoothed almost kind of blurred. It does not make your imperfections stand out if anything it actually helps them to look flawless. I love this so much. I can not wait to buy so many different colored nail polish and not have to actively search out for a matte one and just be able to get whatever I want and turn it into matte. It also drys really fast and is so soft to the touch and smooth. I cant rave about this Matte About You top coat. I know I'll definitely be repurchasing because I'm going to end up going through a lot and hella fast haha. Definitely definitely buy this if you want your polish to be turned matte or be able to keep your already matte nail polish matte. This is not for gel nail polish. I personally never use gel and it has been getting harder and harder now to find the type of polish you want and it to be regular nail polish. God I love this product haha.

Large applicator and dries quickly. You can even watch your nails go from shiny to matted. If you put this on without anything underneath, it looks almost like your natural nails. I have tried this over light and dark polish, and it works well for both. This helps give my nails a more muted look, which I love.

While the finish of this top coat is pretty, it’s definitely not matte. It has a satin finish, and I noticed that after the first day it became a bit shinier as well. This is about 3 days of wear with 3 coats, 4 on the middle nail. It doesn’t get any more matte with additional coats. I also noticed that occasionally a white speckle or two would show up, so I would have to redo the black to cover it and try again. So far, it’s seemed to help with preventing chipping. I’m very rough with my nails and clumsy, so nail polish has never lasted long for me. Recently I’ve started putting a gel base and top coat on underneath my normal polish and buffing it after curing fully for better adhesion. Then I wipe with rubbing alcohol and apply my non gel polish and top coat. It’s really helped to keep things looking fresh for much longer. (I totally recommend the gel base technique for people who struggle with chipping like me!) This top coat does seem to add an extra layer of protection, but I’ve also noticed “cracking” on some of my nails. Overall, I’m disappointed in this top coat. I normally love Essie, especially since I have chemical sensitivities and they leave out some of the more harmful ingredients. I’ve found that their polishes seem to do well with less coats and last a bit longer than cheaper options. However, I can’t really recommend this one unless you’re looking for a satin finish and don’t mind the possibility of dealing with the white speckles. On a lighter color you might not notice them, but on darker shades it sticks out. I’m also not sure if the “cracking” you can see on my middle nail is the fault of the polish itself or if it’s because I had to put so many layers on. I will be using it again as I don’t want to waste it, so I will update with my findings when I do. If you’re looking for a true matte, I’d skip on this.
