I was really impressed with the quality of this kit for the money. I have gone back to gel after nearly ruining my nails at salons as they use electric files and burn up my nail beds, my last visit was the last straw as i feel they just dont take care and realize theres a human attachednto those finders and drilling a nail file into the nail bed burns and hurts you! Hello... They are thin and brittle right now and I came across a utube channel for a batural salon that recommended gel to protect the nail while your nails grow out 6-8 week and allow them to heal. I have a really bad nail biting habit and when they grow out they tendtoo break. I have had mixed feelings about gel in the past but I thought this polish went on evenly and cured well with the light. I also thought the color was true to the description and so far hasn't chipped. I work in physical therapy and wash my hands a million times a day and use oil based lotions so I will be testing out and update my review. Great color selection and the kit came with many higher quality tools. I also LOVED the buffer file that came with, was perfect on my natural nails that are very thin and fragile right now...will be ordering more colors if this polish lasts more than a week. The only thing this kit didn't include was a primer which in my experience is a must on natural nails to get your base to stick. I didn't use the base or top coats included so I can't speak to their quality I like to use the venalisa brand because it doesn't scratch like others I've used, but based on the quality of the color I'm open to trying the beetle brand that came in the kit. It feels a little thicker but will go on evenly, just do two coats and make sure your first coat is thinner. I LOVE to have my nails painted - they always look so nice. However regular polish won’t stay on longer than 1 day without chipping and looking crappy so I hate wasting time on that. Going to the salon is great - my nails always look good, but it’s not as convenient as at home - PLUS I HATE how thin and brittle my nails get after I have them done professionally. I ask them not to file them so thin but they always do. So I’m left with thin brittle nails that peal and tear so easily. In comes Beetles 😍. I followed the directions EXACTLY (mostly - see below). File nails just to remove the shine (so they don’t get thin), push cuticles back, trim cuticles, and file/shape. I then rinse my hands with water & wipe my nails with alcohol wipes to be sure I get all the oil off. Thin layer of base coat, 2-3 thin layers of color, and thin layer of top coat. Be sure to cap the ends - this can be tedious but is so important to keep the ends from chipping and wearing off. A couple variations- the instructions say 60 seconds under the light. But all the bottles vary 60-120. I do 90-120 on all layers and twice on 120 for top coat (just to be sure lol). Then I wipe them again with an alcohol wipe - that’s it! These will last me up to 2 weeks, although I like to change the colors regularly because it’s fun lol. Taking them off is also super easy with a blue bottle of “Gel Remover” quick remover for gel nails. Highly recommend this - no soaking required 😉 Since Beetles has such an amazing color pallet I have a lot of colors. I did notice some of the colors do not match the color label on top of bottles the best so I bought some nail color things I could paint so I know exactly what each color will look like. If you are looking for a dupe, this is it. I have tried multiple "cheap" gel nail polish brands and I can tell you this is the best one have found. I have used them for over 4 years, and recommend them to all my friends. It is durable, the color selection may not be the best out front, but with time you can start adding to it - since you are saving so much from going to the salon. The media could not be loaded. This came very well packed. Includes about everything needed for a beginner. The only reason I gave it for stars is the gloves show a significant amount of skin. They stop before or at the first knuckle. Also because the light only fits four fingers and not all five, but that is me being picky. The colors are beautiful. I always do left side matte and right side glossy. I would recommend it as I have enjoyed it. Great value for the money and got here on time. I am not a nail tech and I am a self taught DIY'er. I didn't know if foe shade B890 I did not shake it enough, but it did need to coats as the first one was a little streaky. The glitters are great and sparkly. Box came neatly and safely packed together. Packaging itself was very beautiful. Product itself is wonderful for beginners learning to use gel nails. (My first time!) I'm a little tight on cash and love going to the salon to get the nails done, but going every other week for maintenance is ridiculous to me. I usual use regular polish, but it flakes and chips off in 2 or 3 days, and my nails are so fragile they usually break and I end up tearing my nail off. I wanted to try gel nails (no extensions) to see if the they would last longer and help strengthen my actual nails. The kit came with directions to apply the multiple coats (which I did reference often) but I also ended up looking on Youtube for directions as well. (Which, Beetles does have an official video on how to apply gel nails). The kit I purchased did come with a pair or pretty fingerless gloves, but I ended up not using them because of my tiny hands. They just ended up getting in the way. From my research as a gel nail newbie, I did have to separately purchase a nail dehydrator as the kit did not come with it(it helps your gel adhere to your nails and makes it last longer). Not a big deal. The polish colors were all beautiful! I can't wait to try them all. My favorite thins were the little charms that came with the kit. Gemstones, pearls, rosesband flowers in varying sizes. All in all, if you're a beginner too, this kit is a great place to start.
