I hardly ever write reviews but wanted to help anyone who is debating whether to buy this or not so here it goes: After breaking our second Chemex we were on vacation and the Vrbo we were staying at had a stainless steel French press (it was old and we couldn’t figure out the brand). My wife commented on how great it was and it made really good coffee (she grew up in the coffee region of Colombia and knows about coffee!). So when we got home my search began to surprise her with a stainless steel French press. I will say after reading some of the reviews I was a bit skeptical and almost went with another brand. After reading everything ai could find I decided to go with the Espro in 32. She loved the aesthetics and we knew it was built to last. After reading the instructions on the site and some of the reviewers, I began to make some excellent cups of coffee! If you are hesitating don’t, it doesn’t disappoint! So this is long but wanted to address issues posted on here: yes you will get some coffee at the bottom but just pump and you will get every last drop (if you need it lol) It does keep coffee warm for a “reasonable amount of time not all morning!) Thriw it in the microwave if it’s been hours smh) We ended up getting the smaller one for during the week when on the run….Large makes 3-4 cups Small 2-3 so depending on the day (Large on the weekends) oh and we found no difference based on size. I would purchase this and it may seem a bit expensive but other than having to replace the filter this thing is indestructible and you will get your money’s worth over time. I hope this was helpful….I could go into what worked for us but this is long already I would definitely invest in a burr grinder and scale if you don’t have one and prepare to have amazing coffee everyday! ... show more

After doing a lot of research I decided to purchase the ESPRO P7 French Press. I did this for several reasons: 1. It's insulated stainless steel and not GLASS. This was important to us because while glass is pretty, it is also fragile and we would likely accidentally break a glass french press within months, 2. The reusable double filtration system on this French Press practically eliminates any grinds ending up in your cup of coffee. The system is simple to clean and also highly effective. 3. Dishwasher safe. After you brew, simply scrape out the grinds into the compost or trash bin and then give it a quick rinse and toss the carafe and plunger in the dishwasher. 4. Size. This french press is large enough to make 32oz of coffee per brew. This allows enough for me and my wife to share. The insulated stainless keeps the brew warm long enough that we can each have a cup when we are ready in the morning. ... show more

When I get the ratio of ground coffee correct, its flavor is fantastic. Markings inside are helpful. Smooth and mellow just like I expect from a good French press. Much less grounds get into the coffee, and filters are easy to use and clean. The press goes down smoothly. Bit it is heavy, thus a little awkward to handle. Not as good insulation as I would like, e.g., the coffee has cooled down so much after the first cup that i have to reheat in the microwave for it to suit me. Update: After three weeks of use, here's what I can tell you. This press has totally replaced my classic Bodum French press, which has been relegated to basement storage. My initial impression that it was harder to clean than the Bodum one was wrong. Actually, it's easier to clean and I never have to worry about breaking it. My annoyance that it didn't keep the coffee as hot as other reviewers promised (whoever said it keeps coffee hot four hours is lying) has totally faded because the coffee is delicious. While it does not keep the coffee hot like a thermos would, it does keep it nice and fresh and hot if you want to make a press and have it on the table throughout a leisurely breakfast while reading the newspaper or whatever. So, overall, I do stand by my bottom line. Great coffee, might not be worth the extra for the double-wall vacuum-sealed, but I can't see going back to my old press again. Original review below: I bought this after reading a NYTimes Wirecutter review of French Presses. I’ve used a classic Bodum press for two decades, but after reading about the potential cholesterol raising effects of unfiltered coffee, was looking for an alternative. I use a Clever for single-cup filtered coffee, but most days I want to brew more than one cup at a time. Enter the Espro. And as long as I was upgrading, why not go all in with the double-wall vacuum insulated model? This could be my leisurely weekend coffee maker. Well, the coffee is great, but the added expense of the double-wall, vacuum insulation is not at all worth it. Kept the coffee moderately hot for one hour. After two hours, it was unpleasantly cold. I thought this would spare me the need to decant into a thermos, thereby saving me some clean up. But since there are so more parts to the filtration system than a typical press, it’s more of a pain to clean up, and doesn’t keep the coffee very hot. Bottom line: Great filtration, but the glass or non vacuum sealer metal versions would suffice. The top of the line version doesn’t deliver on keeping coffee hot long enough to justify the high price tag. ... show more
