Well like most customers on Amazon, I was nieve enough to think that this thing came charged. Well with a little charge. I believe I charged my phone 2 times and my earbuds once. Then I thought it charged with the sunlight. Haha yes it does. But very slowly. The solar part is for when you actually loose electric. It will recharge with sunlight. Just much slower that the electric from the wall. Battery life is AMAZING! Charges super FAST with my fast charging cord. ( Maybe even faster than when I plug it in the wall) Bought this after my daughter had one when we were on vacation to Florida last month. Best purchase for the price.

This was a waste of money. I regret it 100%. I had bought it because it’s handy when you go camping, so I thought. I was only able to use it once to charge my phone battery. It only charge halfway. Now it doesn’t work to charge my cell phone. The only thing that works on it is the light. I actually bought two. Both do not work. I bought them at two different times. One when I went traveling and gave it to a relative but then it didn’t work to charge cell. I hope this review helps.

It does charge easy. Solar part works good and the light is nice. I realized it was non returnable after I bought it. The compass does not work on mine. EDIT! I've had this for a few months now. Used a handful of times. I thought it was a good gadget and worked well as a cell phone charger but it just stopped charging. Not through solar or stored charge. Turns on for a few seconds then stops. DO NOT BUY. ANOTHER AMAZON RIP OFF THAT CANNOT BE RETURNED

This item is great for anytime, travel, camping, power outages. Solar panel works great, extra feature "no sun" has charging port & cord. Also "C" compatible for newer devices.

First off, a “solar charger” this is not. I don’t even see how they can market it as such because it doesn’t do that at all. Absolutely false advertising. If you want to plug it into your wall and keep as an extra battery pack to charge your phone, it’ll do that one time. But as far as leaving out in the sun to recharge (the little blue LED indicator lights will activate to make you think it’s doing something)—No, it doesn’t do that at all. That little solar panel on the side is for looks only it appears. A couple friends and I bought these with plans to recharge our phones every night on a recent hunting trip (we use our phones for hunting purposes with respect to satellite maps and hunting apps). We would leave these chargers back at camp everyday in a spot that was in full view of the sun for at least 10-12 hours a day. It might—MIGHT—give you a 1% boost on your phone battery but that’s a big if. One time I left it out in the sun for two days straight without using it. Again, no charge at all. By the end of the trip we all had to shut our phones off and only powered up when needed in order to have enough power to finish out the trip. Long story short, if you’re planning a trip to the wilderness, don’t count on this junk to keep your devices juiced up while you’re out there. We’ll be looking into some sort of AA/AAA battery powered charging packs to take with us in the future if there is such a thing because we realized we couldn’t trust these “solar” items at all. One more thing the compass is just for show doesn’t work either.

Bought these as gifts for recipients who travel and go camping. The solar charger was new to me as I have other types (different brand) that really got my family through power outages during hurricane Irma. When I saw these that can be recharged both through solar or USB (modern vehicles have USB chargers) and provide enough power to recharge several items, and it didn't cost an arm and a leg, I found the perfect gift for Christmas, and bought an extra for myself as part of my hurricane/storm pack. They came about 98% fully charged so it didn't take too long to recharge to full capacity. I have a clock in my spare bedroom with USB ports so charged it in there. Since I wanted to see how it charges by solar power, my daughter and her family will be trying it out during their Boy Scout camping spree and will report to me how well it did and I will post an update on the solar charging aspect. However, it did charge just fine by USB so thus my review at this time is reflective of that. The size is compact and not any larger than a smart phone. I just wish it came in a case, even a bag with drawstring so one could pack/transport both charger and cords together. Otherwise, I just keep it in the box as it is small enough and easy to pack that way. Bottom line, highly recommend.
