It's a gas spring monitor arm. It's just like all the other ones all over the place. I guess you could get this one, or maybe a different one. Can't really complain about anything, or give it any specific praise, other than it's straight up average, just like all the other gas spring monitor mounts.

    • Sturdy and Easy to Mount
I just fitted this mount for my wife's ViewSonic VG2739 27inch monitor. The user's manual states that the monitor is 15.65 lbs so that puts it safely inside the weight limit for this monitor stand from ErGear with a top weight limit of 22lbs. The mount comes in an egg-box type cardboard tray with lots of cavities for the various components. There is an instruction manual which is actually an instruction manual and not the usual pile of chiding and scolding and warnings. Decent instructions with clear diagrams. Thank you so much! I did check the instructions but most of the assembly is pretty intuitive. You do have to get the bottom strut the right way round though. When I inspected the desk clamp I did utter an expletive in surprise. It is a seriously huge chunk of metal that is not going to bend or flax or do anything you don't want. It's just going to attach to the desk and not move. But better than that it has three different ways you can adapt to the geometry of your desk. We have limited access to the back edge of this corner desk so we decided to mount in in one of those plastic lined cable access ports. It is a three inch diameter hole in exactly the right position behind the monitor. It took a few moments to get the clamp in the right configuration and cramp it down. The thread is big enough and smooth enough that you can apply a lot of pressure without it jamming. Once the clamp is in place everything else is easy. The universal monitor mount system is a help so that you know when take off the old stand the adapter plate will fit, which it did. They supply all the tools you need such as the big Allen wrench to adjust the vertical holding pressure, so that the monitor floats just right. The advantage of having this type of desk mount is not huge but it does free up the area underneath your monitor which always seems to fill up with thumb drives and other bric-a-brac. We both have wall or desk mounts now and I wouldn't go back. This is a very good quality monitor mounting system and I recommend it highly. ... show more

The major difference between this monitor arm and the cheaper monitor arms is that this one comes with a gas spring. What are the benefits of a gas spring? It means you can adjust the monitor for the exact height and distance without having to mess with the adjustments on the back. With this monitor arm, you can grab the monitor, and adjust it to the height and position you want and then just let it go. This is great for me because I sometimes prefer to position the monitor closer when I'm concentrating and pushed further back when I'm just doing casual work. ... show more

I was wanting a way to mount my 27in monitor on one of my desks at home and came across this. This is a desk clamp arm, meaning, it clamps to the desk and does not have a stand or mount on a wall. It can hold up to a 32in monitor. It is only for a single monitor. The arm is very well made, of steel and plastic covers. It is VESA compatible so any standard Computer Monitor will work with this arm. It can hold monitors up to 22lbs in weight. From the top of the desk to the top of the mount, it is about 17in tall. It can also extend about 15in away from the end of the desk. You can tilt the screen up and down and can even set your monitor vertically if you'd like.
