I have been a cosmetologist for 30 years, and I have two pairs of these scissors. I am criticized by the other stylists because I'm not paying $600 for my scissors per pair. why should I pay that much when I can get shears that work just as good for this price? I love these shears and I have had mine sharpened numerous times by a professional blade sharpener and he is able to adjust them properly and they are sharp enough to cut Asian and Latino hair without a problem. my first pair was given to me as a gift and I used them for three years before I bought another pair with a slightly longer blade but I still use both pairs. The first pair still looks brand new and still gives great haircuts. I would recommend this product to anyone who works in the hair industry, because they work very well for haircuts. First off, I've never had to cut hair until having 2 sons with mop-heads that grow like weeds, so I've learned to adapt in order to save some money. I'm a welder/steam fitter by trade, not a hair cutter by any stretch of the imagination but as far as these scissors are concerned, I can offer this much, when compared to the Sally Hansen branded scissors I used for 3 years before this Equinox pair, the difference is complete night & day! These scissors are so much sharper and cut way cleaner with much more power on each stroke, they can cut with single hair precision and they do so with extreme consistency, they also have quite a bit more heft in the hand than many of the other brands, this makes me feel giddy, after all, nobody has time for cheap lightweight tools! You can also easily adjust the tension on them to your own preference, I found they were adjusted perfectly for my taste straight out of the box. Also of note, the points on these scissors are semi-rounded, instead of the typical "dagger like" points found on most hair cutting scissors, this small design detail is fantastic for my hyper active autistic 8 y/o son that simply WILL NOT SIT STILL!!! His haircuts are much safer now, no more haircut emergency room visits! As a man with larger sized hands and fingers, I'm at a complete disadvantage in the world of hair cutting scissors but these tend to offer more room along with mirror polishing in the finger loops, this combination helps tremendously with overall control and grip. I also purchased a matching pair of Equinox thinning shears to go with this pair of scissors, they offer the exact same qualities as the scissors mentioned, both offer amazing mechanism precision, there is no slop or excess play in the mechanism! Country of manufacture aside, these are top quality hair cutting tools constructed using advanced precision machining technology and high quality stainless steel's (I know steel quite well, I'm a welder). Anyway, I highly recommend these scissors to anyone bestowed with the burden of cutting hair, they will make your life much easier. I quite literally have nothing negative to say about them, hence the 5 star rating. These scissors are perfect for snipping the stray hairs missed by your stylist. I will use them to trim bangs in between appointments as well. They're sharp, easy to hold and control because of their ergonomic design. I've used bad scissors on my hair before and the difference in a quality pair, like these, is noticeable. Overall: This item has plenty of reviews, but I will throw mine in as well. I have had these for a year and a half and wanted to share my experience with them. They have held up really well! Cost: I originally purchased these for about $20 and am here buying a second set to have for back up for $4 less which I was thrilled about. These have saved us a decent amount of money on haircuts and it paid for itself after just one use! These days I will take every saved dollar I can. Usage: I started as a complete novice and found these very easy to use! They feel comfortable in the hand and are great for maneuvering into hard to reach cutting places. I have found them great even for cutting my own hair as well. Cutting Edge: As others have said, this set is really sharp. Unfortunately, I did have one cut with these, so just be slow and steady as you learn if you are new. Potential Recommendation: I also cleaned mine off before use with a sterile alcohol swab the first time which I am glad I did since I did have one cut with them. Hair Type: I have used these with both curly and straight hair with wonderful results. I have recommended them to others as well. Conclusion: These have held up well over time! They maneuver easily and work with different texture types. I have found these well worth every penny. They look much more expensive than what they cost, and I am glad I bought them. No joke, these scissors are SHARP! Great for little trims in between professional cuts, but you could absolutely do bigger cuts with these. I actually cut myself some wispy bangs a while back with these and they look great, very clean cuts.
