My package was received with tape, as though the product had been used and returned. That is not so unusual since Amazon received returns frequently and re-sells the item. However, I bought mine as marked new. Not used. Also, there were hair clippings inside the box. See attached photo. I used alcohol wipes and Lysol wipes to sanitize the shears, hoping there was no lice or bacteria, etc. The shears themselves work wonderfully! Blades are sharp and cut very well. The serrated shears are great for texturizing and layering. Easy to use and feels good to grip in my hand. I wish the products had been at least sanitized prior to shipping to me. Especially a new box without hair clippings inside. I ultimately would have preferred a new product, since that is what I paid for. ... show more

They're Sharp.

I never imagined I would end up cutting my own kid's hair, but my son's hair grows like a weed after a rainy day: it was a pain getting it cut all the time. So our friend, who owns a line of beauty supply stores, sent us a really nice electric hair razor set (about $150 value!). But to my dismay, my son did not like the buzz cut without bangs look. So I tried to cut his bangs, and was very unimpressed with the Dr Spock (I'm not a huge Star Wars fan, so don't know the sp.) look—you know, the straight line across the forehead look. So I serffed YouTube for some hair cutting tutorials, and after some deliberating and comparative window shopping (yes and getting over the high sticker price of some of these!), I settled on this set. Kind of middle of the line–not the cheapest, DEFINITELY not the most expensive, but lots of good reviews. They arrived quickly, and soon I was cutting (experimenting with) my son's bangs with the thinning shears to try to lose the (semi) straight edge look. They worked splendidly! And he (almost) looked like he'd just come from the haircutters place! Armed with my success, I went to work on my daughter's hair. They thinned out her extremely thick hair so well she couldn't believe now light her head felt! But then I started trimming her hair. OOPS. 😳 I'm not sure how, but the hair line (I was trying to do a simple straight across cut) kept getting shorter...and shorter... Darn that line! It just would not straighten for me! Of course it didn't help that her brother was antagonizing her and do she kept having to be reminded to "stay still!" Ugh! I was unpleasantly surprised to see her hair went from waist length to shoulder length in just half an hour. 😱 I braved a smile and handed her the mirror, waiting for the anticipated shriek of horror. "MOM!!!" I cringed. 😖"I LOVE it!!! I've been wanting a short haircut forever now, but I didn't think you'd let me!" (—and she was right about that). Huh?!? 😶 "So you like it then?" I asked, trying to conceal the tears welling up in my eyes. 😩 "YES!!!" she squealed. For the first time in my life, I just really didn't know what to say. They're very sharp. ... show more

Not a sharp tip

Shears are heavy, well constructed and the adjustment mechanism is nice. Thumb hole is too small for my hands and unusable for my husband. Most importantly, the tip is rounded, so you don’t get sharp close clipping action. Haven’t tried the thinning shears yet.

Really great scissors

These are excellent scissors. I have had this set for a while now and they remain as sharp as the day I received them. I cut my own hair and these have been great. Didn't expect this quality at this price

Just as the title states I was very impressed with the initial quality and long-term use. The adjustability on the tension/friction is great as well. We do at home cuts and these have been perfect, wife especially loves them. Cuts like butter so be careful! They're extremely sharp straight out of the box. For this price I'd be hard pressed that you would find literally anything better thats similar on the market ... show more
