This is my 2nd Epson MF printer. Excellent printer but they think a lot of their ink cartridges since you have to pay a premium price for them and update the printer often to keep you from using recycled ones.

    • The Extended Warranty It Does Not Transfer To The Replacement Unit

I bought a printer with the extended coverage. Returned the printer and bought another brand. I called customer service to get information about the extended warranty. What I was told is the coverage would transfer automatically. It didn't sound right, policies do change. When I checked my e-mail, nothing about my coverage for the new printer. Amazon Customer Service told me they don't handle extended warranty. Gave me the number to call. That was on 3-10-2023. I called Asurion and got the correct refund information from them. I was out of the 30 day window to replace the coverage. Asurion did refund my purchase but will not issue a new policy to cover the replacement printer. Epson Printer has been a good purchase.     • Very difficult to set up on a Mac

I searched on Amazon for All-in-One printer/scanner/fax that works with a Mac. I then spent a lot of time comparing the results. Of the choices, the Epson WF-4820 seemed to be the best. I was very excited to get rid of my old Brother All-in-One. Sadly, the excitement turned to extreme disappointment when I tried to set the WF-4820 up on the network. The WF-4820 connected to the network relatively easily, and I could find the WF-4820 when I used the iPhone app, EpsonSmartPanel. However, part of installing the printer driver on the iMac requires the iMac to find the printer on the network, and that simply would not work whether I tried an Ethernet cable connection or WiFi connection. I even used a USB cable, and it did not work. I called Tech Support, and the advice was ridiculous. The technician wanted me to run an ethernet cable directly from the router to the printer, which would not be feasible on a daily basis, or reconfigure my WiFi system specifically for the printer even though it would make other operations more difficult. (I actually did move the WF-4820 to a position where I could connect it directly to the router, and that solution did not work so basically the advice from Tech Support was terrible. And it was frustrating because the technician had the stereotypical attitude of the problem cannot be their device. It must be a user problem.) I was about to send the WF-4820 back and write a more scathing review when I decided to look online for the software necessary to run the printer and scanner instead of using the installation software provided by Epson. It turns out that the software installer provided by Epson is almost 2 years old and designed for Apple iOS 10.4. Most of the Apple world is on iOS 12.4 so the Epson software installer is very out of date. Sure enough, when I located more recent software and drivers for the individual functions of printing and scanning, everything worked fine. And the printing quality and scanning software is far above my old Brother unit. I would not recommend this All-in-One unless Epson updates its installation software. Thank you to Amazon and Epson. This printer was the best decision I could have made. It is already set up and printing. It is already connected for faxing. It has already printed its' first print job and it was perfection. Thank you both so much. I replaced a canon that was always causing problems and it is still in good condition so I am giving it to goodwill along with three other printers, and two old computers today. Thanks to all. Bought another very popular brand and it was junk, nothing but problems. This one seems very good, I do lots of scanning and some printing. It does have a network cat6 connection and wireless. I can print from my pc, iPad or iPhone, no issues. I save most scans to my pc on the same network. Very pleasedโ€ฆ. ... show more

    • Great Printer but too many apps

I'll start by saying the print quality is outstanding. Whether you're printing pictures or plain text in black & white or color, you don't have to worry about the print coming out looking bad. Scanning quality is also great. If you're scanning to a drive, it gives you the option to scan documents at different dpi which will improve the quality of the scan. At 600 dpi (highest setting) you can see every detail of the scanned image with almost no pixelation. The only reason for the 4-star rating is because in order to use ALL the available functions, you need to download a bunch of apps and you need to create an Epson account. I personally hate creating new accounts for anything so I wasn't too happy when I discovered that. As for the apps, though, don't be alarmed. You don't need any of them to use the printer as a printer/scanner, it comes ready to print out of the box. However, if you want to scan remotely to a computer without connecting it via USB or if you want to print something while connected to a different WiFi network (i.e. printing to your home printer from your work computer) then you need to download these apps. Again, these features are not necessities, they are niceties and I'll admit, they are very convenient. But, if you want to use them, you will need to complete a few extra steps to set them up. ... show more

When it works, this is an awesome printer. Unfortunately, it disappears off of my network randomly, and has to be restarted before anyone can print to it.
