Set up was quick and easy over my home wireless network
I did a lot of research on printers before I bought this one, so my expectations were suitably lowered. Set up was quick and easy over my home wireless network, connecting via my Netgear router to Apple, Lenovo and Dell laptops. Image quality for PDF scans is fine, print quality for black and white and color is good, Wifi reception is steady with no drops, and AirPrint works fine from iphone 5, 6 and 7 cellphones. So the ownership experience has been good for the first four days; hoping this is true a year from now. This ink-spewing disposable devise (definite sarcasm here for all printer manufacturers) has a tacky exterior - cheap-looking brittle plastic that is really a step backwards from my trusty old HP 6500 that died on me after 5 years of reliable performance. To be fair, all the current models of printers that I saw on display at Best Buy looked tacky too. The one-star deduction is for the sweat and the smudges that the workers in the hot muggy factory in the Philippines did not bother to wipe off as they were packing this printer up. These marks are etched into the plastic leaving me with a printer that has a permanently marred appearance - small issue in the overall scheme of things I suppose, but hey shouldn't a new printer look new? Note to Epson, I would be happy to pay twice the price for a nice-looking box that would work reliably for 5 years. UPDATE: 15 months after purchase this printer/scanner/copier has worked flawlessly. No complaints, upgrading from 4 stars to 5! UPDATE: 3 years since purchase. What an awesome machine. So reliable. Biggest issue has been the very rare paper jam. 6 stars! ... show more

Day 1 Review - Will Update If Things Go South
I spent 2 solid days looking for a printer to replace my Canon, which I had for only 3 years. Not one printer had mostly good reviews except the ones over $300. I was so damn exhausted from reading all the reviews of how people want to toss their printers. With only 2 1/2 stars, why did I finally decide on this one? These are the features I absolutely needed: 1. Top autofeed, not just flatbed printing and scanning 2. Duplexing 3. Ability to keep printing b&w when color inks run low 4. Ink refills under $70! One printer I almost bought for $129 before I saw that the ink was a shocking $124! 5. Wireless connection (If your computer uses ethernet, you have to either switch to same wifi connection as printer for it to work, or hard-wire printer to computer so they both share ethernet. This sucks in my opinion). 6. Quality color printing 7. Faxing (although I only use a handful of times a year) 8. Large capacity paper tray (holds 250) What I could have lived without... 1. Issue with having to be on same network wirelessly for it to work 2. Amazon Dash Replenishment (I hope it is not auto-enabled. Do not see in my account. No mention of it during setup (be sure to check your Amazon devices and make sure it is not enabled if you do not want the ink to be auto-shipped. You can also disable your one-click purchasing which dash uses, and that will make sure it is off.) 3. Bloated CD that you have to install (even on your Mac) for it to work. Took forever to install In order to save on ink, I am keeping the printer on so that it won't run through a cleaning, or restart which uses up ink. Day one, happy with it. I like the way it looks and it prints extremely fast. Keeping my finger's crossed that it will continue to work without any major problems. If I run into any, I will update here. Most unreliable printer I have ever owned
I had an HP printer for many years and it was a workhorse. It printed thousands of pages over the years for me without a problem until it finally gave up. I bought this Epson just over a year ago, thinking it would be a good multi-function replacement. I have printed fewer than 100 usable, standard written word, pages in that year, but I am already on my third set of ink cartridges. It worked fine when I first got it and then I went out of town for much of the year and it sat, turned off and unused. I turned it on - updated all the firmware - and tried to use it again after it's long rest and it is now useless. The printing is smudged and uneven. Obviously, the ink nozzles became clogged and are malfunctioning so that at the 2/3 mark of the page was always illegible UNLESS I selected highest quality printing for everything I print. If I select highest quality print then the page is perfect. The flaw with that is, only some programs allow the selection of print quality. If, for example, I were to print out a return shipping label from Amazon, the only choice is the default setting on the printing, therefore, the label comes out as unreadable. Performing nozzle maintenance is a waste of time. I can clean the nozzles three times in succession and there will still be no difference in the quality. The ink is unbelievably expensive and the printer burns through it like water. I set the print to black and white and the color ink is still being emptied. I am now faced with having to purchase a new printer and I will be stuck with these Epson ink cartridges. I would not recommend purchasing this product. ... show more

WORST PRINTER EVER!
UPDATE: Epson replied to my review and asked that I give them a call. They offered to send a replacement. I thought what's the point of replacing the same horrible printer but figured it couldn't be any worse and maybe I got a "lemon." I have updated my review form 1 to 4 stars. The print quality on the fast print setting is good and ink is lasting a long time. It would be nice if they had a program like HP's instant ink or if stores around me (granted I live in a town with a population of 25k) carried it for when in a bind but I just make sure to always have spare cartridges and I reorder once my spare goes in the printer (same thing a lot of people do with propane tanks for gas grills). I also noticed pages do not stick together too often either. Haven't had issues with the auto feeder for the scanner either, pages only get stuck when there is a page on the scanner glass, as the auto feeder runs the paper over the top sections of the scanner glass, so it makes sense it would stick if a piece of paper is on the glass. Overall, I'm satisfied with the replacement printer and for Epson's efforts to right a wrong. I think it provides great value for the price. Based off several reviews like mine it seems Epson has a problem with manufacturing lemons so I hope they can work that out. I've had several printers and several different brands of printers throughout the years but this the absolute worst printer I've ever owned. I used the fast print setting with other printers because it uses less ink but the quality is sufficient, with this printer the fast setting is worthless because the print quality is so low. I ordered ink from Epson.com and it took at least a week and a half, HP does next day or 2 day shipping for free. It seems Epson in general and especially this printer is not popular because I needed ink right away one time and several major stores did not carry it, so I had to pay an arm and a leg for a local print shop to print for me and get the ink the next day 30 minutes away from me. Paper always gets bunched up so you'll have blank pages between printed pages. The paper feeder for the scanner gets jammed if you look at it the wrong way, paper can be perfect and it will still get jammed, if it has a crease good luck. This printer isn't sufficient for light personal use let alone work. The odds of me going Office Space on this printer are very high. I beg you not to buy this printer unless you like spending hours and losing productivity trying to get this thing to do what it should do any way. Do you like your printer to work and print on both sides without hassle? Well then this is the printer for you!
I have had this printer for a week and have been using it heavily since receiving it and let me just say WOW! Set up was a bit tedious than most printers I have ever set up. Regardless, it worked flawlessly with all my devices, including my cellphone. All my devices have worked with the printer through wifi without problems. I do have one little tiny con to point out: when printing from my cellphone the quality of the print didn't come out too well. This is just a minor problem and it only happened with my phone. Printing from all my computers and tablets was a breeze and the quality was OUTSTANDING. The duplex printing (printing on both sides of the paper without having to reinsert the paper) has to be the coolest thing this printer can do! I love this feature! Not only does it, do it well, it also does it very quickly! This printer is one of the fastest printers I have ever owned and I am so glad I bought it. The printer is also super compact and saves so much room on the desk I keep it on. I haven't printed a picture yet, but when I do I'll be sure to update my review. Far more advanced features than I expected.
I have been through way too many printers before this.... This one plugged into my networked and worked perfectly. I used a direct ethernet connection to my router and it worked perfectly with my Macs and iOS devices. It gave it a static IP address, and when I type that address in my browser, I get a nice settings page with all the advanced features. If you have the knowledge and inclination, this all-in-one can be highly customized. If you want to just plug it in and use it, you can do that too. I was not expecting to see things like the ability to import SSL certificates or create CSRs in a $99 printer. I know the ink cost will be a bit annoying, but I'll accept that as a small installment payment for a really advanced everyday printer. ... show more

better luck next time.
No matter how hard I try to find the perfect printer, I fail. This all in one printer is only adequate. Scanning into my computer is a hassle. Although it says it’s wireless it does print perfectly sometimes from my phone or tablet. And sometimes it doesn’t. So I have to manipulate and change settings and it finally worked. One of the most disturbing things about it is that the light never goes out on the panel unless you turn the unit off. Therefore when I sleep at night the light goes on and less I put something over it so it doesn’t light up my bedroom. Another thing it does all night long is ham or try to start it sounds like somethings coming through but nothing is. That’s very disturbing also. The ink doesn’t last very long. But of course that happens to most all printers. And the paper jams frequently. I’m going to go by sinner lighter weight paper and see if that helps that issue. I get several sheets of paper blank paper with every print with more than one page. So until this one dies completely I’ll suffer through and read reviews and more reviews until I find my next one hopefully with better results. I’m just happy I don’t do a lot of printing or faxing anymore. ... show more

First no frills no hair pulling printer I've ever owned
You know I've owned alot of printers I'm pretty tec savy printers have allways angerd me especially setting up special settings this thing however its plug it in go to settings wifi enter the password go to windows network and printers and printer it pops up and you're done I wouldn't call the print quality perfect it's not I dont expect it to be for a sub 100$ printer but its alot better than the 45$ black Friday printer it replaced good enough for making a pamphlet if you need to do a family album you need to invest more money the scan quality isn't great but a little better than the 45$ blackfriday special good enough for documents mabie pictures idk I didn't try messing with the settings I only used it once having a printer without bloatware and that I can get 30$ bootleg ink for unlike hp is priceless to me ... show more
