  • Great projo with a few issues
Style: EF-100 White - Renewed
Great brightness, good resolution, only one input, other minor issues. I am impressed. So is my girlfriend. Now she wants one. Good. I use this projo in permanent home and home office applications, which likely are not EPSON's intended uses. So, temper my comments with that. Projo is plenty bright for semigloss white painted wall opposite sunlit windows, day or night, but night is better, duh! Great either way. Not as bright on flat white paint, which also makes sense. Capable of 2000 lumens stated. Similar EPSONs are only 1000. Hybrid laser LED source is probably good for longevity. Fan runs faster when above 60% light output and even faster when above 80%. Fan sound is noticible at all light outputs, especially when projo is close behind your head or noise is reflected by a corner near the ceiling. Resolution is below what I desire, but for off-air broadcast and Netflix, it is fine. I see black lines between pixels when I look for them (which seem odd since projo optics should intentionally blur those separations), but after two weeks of viewing, I don't see lines from this projo unless I look for them. Only one HDMI input. Had to add an outboard HDMI switch. Would be better with two remotely-controlled inputs, but the cabinet does not have space for more inputs, so I understand EPSON's choice. (1000 lumen EPSONs have two HDMI.) Three mounting holes on bottom which are not obvious unless you download the nearly 100-page user manual which is very informative and well-written. As shipped, the mounting holes are filled with rubber feet on bolts, which are different than the angle adjustment foot. No mute button. Remote control mute disables almost everything: video and audio cease but fan stays on at low speed. With video off, you can not see when advertisements end to know when to unmute. Streaming video on the EPSON device (supplied with the projo) proceeds even though projo is not displaying video. That surprised me since the streaming gadget gets its remote-control inputs from the projo. So, to mute during commercials, you have to ramp volume to zero. Old school. Very happy with projo at EPSON refurbishment half price. Great way to see if a projo makes sense in an application. I continue to use it. Happy to have it. I've bought four lesser-quality projos before and I still own them. Annoyed that light output, digital keystone and zoom settings are forgotten when projo is turned off unless you use a "Memory" and disable auto keystoning. It remembers the volume and other settings such as image flipping, but forgets the very important light output, keystone and zoom settings. Light output and zoom can be remembered by using a Memory, but that should not be a required step in the usage model. Keystone can not be put into a Memory unless auto is disabled. Kinda hard to find auto keystone setting so as to disable it. It is on one keystone menu but not on another keystone menu, an unnecessary inconsistency. Should be identical. As you would expect, digital keystoning (instead of optical) discards pixels and creates artifacts on vertical items (I only need vertical correction). Poles and edges shimmer with pixelation. That's just how it works. Especially noticable due to the unnecessary black lines around the pixels, mentioned above. Experience with this and other long-throw projos teaches me that ultra short throw is likely best in most homes. UST will be my next purchase even though UST costs 5x the cost of this projo. Mounting a long throw or short throw is a severe pain. I have built shelves, stacked boxes and used mounts. The #1 problem with a projo is that it is not a TV monitor that you can easily set on a table or hang on a wall. Intend to replace 65" monitor currently in office with ultra short throw projo to free up space on my desk. UST will be mounted above desk, pointing down. ... show more

  • Only has one HDMI input and one hookup for sound, picture is great
Style: EF-100 Black - Renewed
Picture is great, sound coming out of the unit is ok. Epson "fire stick" did not work and frankly isn't necessary for us because we use our amazon fire stick with it. We use this for our home theater, however, in order to hook up our DVD player, Fire stick and gaming console we needed an HDMI port that has 4 inputs to one output. The sound was another challenge and we ended up getting a Bluetooth receiver since this projector has Bluetooth capability. So all in all we made it work to fit our needs but it doesn't come fully loaded with space for all of your hookups. ... show more

  • Great picture quality and brightness in a portable package
Style: EF-100 White - New
I looked at a variety of portable projector options for outdoor movie and sports nights, and I landed on the Epson EF100. I was looking for a model that was compact, had decent built-in audio and could connect wirelessly to a device for streaming. At the MSRP it is pricey, but on sale, I think the product represents a good balance of performance and value. The picture is HD, and while not 1080p, is incredibly sharp and should satisfy the casual user. What I particularly like about the Epson is the brightness - I can display something at dusk on a screen or even the side of my house, and I can still see the picture clearly. Setup is easy and the portability is an enormous plus. Overall I have not been disappointed with my purchase. ... show more

Style: EF-100 Black - New
The set up of this projector was so easy! And the image projected is really great the sound its ok for the price and I ended up having to purchase a blue tooth speaker it also is starting to get really, more than when I first purchased it. OVer all, Im very happy with my purchase. It comes with 2 remotes, one works perfectly the other one I still haven't been able to figure how to add it to the device paired remotes, nor I can figure out why do I need a seccond remote. The manual doesn't say much about it. ... show more

  • EF100 or EF12 Epiq Vision?
Style: EF-100 Black - New
The 2000 lumens and remote are great, but at 720p resolution and so so built in speaker. I returned it and got the Epiq Vision with built in Yamaha speaker, 1080p resolution, great remote, self focus, also firestick compatible. It has 1000 lumens and wish it was 2000, but still a better laser projector. ... show more
