  • showing slides & videos without any internet connection **photos**
Style: DC-13 - 1080p 16x Digital Zoom
Really useful to display in areas with poor or no internet connection. We were able to show slides images, photos, my kids' drawings, and even a live youtube video from my smartphone, when we traveled to the boonies a few days ago (pic 01). We were in an area that had very spotty internet connection so we were able to watch some short youtube videos from my smartphone in an enlarged screen on the ceiling of our little cabin (see pic 02). Thanks to the 3-fold connections of this document camera, our projector, and our laptop. It was a very indirect way of watching a large-screen video on our ceiling but it worked! Without any internet connection at all, this will also work if you have videos or images on an SD card. This document camera would be perfect if it had a USB-A slot for connecting a portable external hard drive. We've only just started using some of the basic art and display functions, after downloading the softwared on our laptop. My kids have been enjoying adding to their art with the drawing features of the software (pic 03). There are multiple features that I still have yet to explore with this document camera such as showing microscopic objects as well as capturing and recording videos. I love the portability of this document camera too, with everything fitting in its zipped bag (pic 04). Clearly recommended. ... show more

  • Great for teachers
Style: DC-13 - 1080p 16x Digital Zoom
My wife has been the big user of this. It was a little complicated as a document camera though. She has mostly used it as a live compact digital overhead projector. Using a rocket notebook or picture like an overhead projector to display on a smart board. Although maybe not it's original purpose she loves it and other teachers always ask about it. ... show more

  • Perfect for creating whiteboards animations!
Style: DC-13 - 1080p 16x Digital Zoom
Perfect for creating whiteboards animations! It records high quality video and sound. It's heavy but it comes with a custom bag with all the right compartments. I also hooked it up to my projector via HDML and it was very useful for giving presentations. This is a great document camera and I find myself using it more and more. ... show more

  • Produces poor still images
Style: DC-13 - 1080p 16x Digital Zoom
Produces poor still images. Does not even offer the possibility of cropping still images before being taken. Similar products (which are much cheaper by the way) usually offer more features and give better results.

  • Versatility, Functionality
Style: DC-13 - 1080p 16x Digital Zoom
The Epson ELPDC13 Document Scanner is a device with many applications from the obvious scanning of documents to presentations (excellent for professors and public speakers) and lesson arrangements to more advanced productions like clay-mation, cartoon animations and more. It is a bit heavy for a portable device but not bulky and comes with a snug fitted, carrying case. It is capable of recording video segments , aside from just snap shots of documents and has and sd card port for you to use for an external storage option. The quality is 16x, 1080p, and can move up to 30 fps. The scanner features 2 VGA ports (computer in and Display out) an HDMI port , a USB-B port and a power port brilliantly placed on the body side. The top side is a very easy to understand button layout that even technophobes might be able to operate it. It comes with additional software for PC that practically sets up fairly simple, my only problem is nothing I have tried will allow me to upright the display to use as a standard camera. The neck is fixed and the output forced on display is also fixed to a top-down position and this limits the potential of the device because the clarity of it would work great for family portrait styled pictures. A remote control comes with it with a few more functions and also easily placed buttons. Overall, not a bad toy for the price, but could be a little less bare-boned in it's simplicity.... Maybe a little wifi and 4k quality might make more people jump at it? ... show more

  • So sad and frustrated this didn’t work as I planned it. Confusing
Style: DC-13 - 1080p 16x Digital Zoom
I’m a teacher. I needed to find something that I could use in my class. I am always showing extracts of books, magazines and newspapers. Also PowerPoint presentations and videos. I like to use as much dynamic and entertaining materials as possible to engage and motivate my students even more. As soon as I heard about this, I wanted to give it a try. I was crazy about the day this would arrive home. So when it finally arrived, I downloaded the software on my laptop (the one that I would be using in school) and followed all instructions. I was so confused. I was frustrated. I turns out that I needed to have a projector do what I needed. So it was this connected to the projector that was connected to my laptop. It was a double expense and double work. Not to mention all the cables and wires that I needed to use. Then I found the software very complicated to use and I still really don’t understand how it works. I normally don’t have problems with my tech toys and it’s not a big deal when I get to use new things, but this one was so hard. It was so bad that I had to give up and just show my class on the projector that I had to buy. I’m still learning how to use this and take the most advantage in my classrooms. For the price, I can honestly admit that I wouldn’t pay for it. I’ve seen others that seem less complicated. ... show more

  • A Good Imaging Device
Style: DC-13 - 1080p 16x Digital Zoom
First things first. I think the “document camera” title/description is a bit confusing for some. It’s not so much a document camera as it is a document imaging device. This device’s primary purpose is to feed a live image of a document or photograph (or anything really) to a projector, monitor or TV. Now, with that said, the device itself does a pretty decent job of what it’s designed to do. Produced image quality could certainly be a bit better, but it’s not too bad. In a classroom/learning environment, produced images with text are plenty clear enough to easily read and learn from. Which, again, is what it’s primarily designed to do. If you’re not expecting this thing to put out crystal clear, high definition live images, I think you’ll be pleased with this device. If you are expecting just that, you’ll definitely need to look elsewhere. If you have any questions about this document camera, please feel free to ask, and I'll try my best to answer. I hope you found this review helpful. ... show more

  • No wide screen and the "microscope" function is not good
Style: DC-13 - 1080p 16x Digital Zoom
I like that this is a compact document camera. The focus and image quality are great. I do not like the software that comes with the projector. It is just too much. The image is square so it does not take advantage of a classroom-sized monitor that is widescreen. The microscope attachment is not as nice or as easy to use as other "real" camera microscopes. If my school did not pay for it, I would have liked to return it/exchange it for something else. ... show more
