  • Absolutely Superb!
Style: Amplifier
While it seems extremely expensive compared to most similar products I believe this is totally worth it. The audio quality is extremely high and doesn't require any software or advanced drivers so it is very easy to use. It also has profile saving so you can easily switch between gaming and listening to music. The thing I most like about it is very hard to describe, and that is how satisfying it is to use this product. The premium build quality just makes it feel good to use, the dial and touch buttons just feel perfect. I actively find myself reaching past my keyboard volume roller to use the dial on the amp instead just because it feels good to use. I paired this with a Sennheiser Game One headset and couldn't be happier with my decision and highly recommend to anyone willing to shell out the money. ... show more

First of all, I consider myself as an average consumer and not an audiophile. I understand that this is not a professional audio equipment for audiophile but it definitely makes a difference in the sound quality. It also looks very nice and the volume wheel is just so satisfying to use. If you want a versatile small dac and amplifier combo, you should try this equipment. ... show more

  • Good, maybe not worth the price compared to dolby.
Style: Amplifier
Sennheiser has finally come out with a premium 7.1 experience and it's quite well done. *You HAVE to manually set up the surround sound per the instructions and select the correct default devices or it will NOT WORK. The main selling feature here is that Sennheiser has come up with simulated 7.1 surround sound (with a plethora of features) to compete with dolby's. Having used both types by sennheiser I can say that this is both better and likely not worth the price. Many lower end games do better without 7.1 enabled (fortnite) while some games give better positional data with it enabled (Overwatch) and this gives you the ability to turn it on and off rather quickly. When you turn off 7.1 surround sound, you still get the games surround sound so it really comes down to playing with settings in each game. The larger benefit is being able to tune the reverberation to indoor or outdoor games to add to the positional accuracy. In Overwatch for example it's much easier to pinpoint that and enemy is 30 degrees to the right and above you with this enabled. ... show more

This little device is amazing. It's very easy to switch between desktop speaks and headphones. When it is connected your PC will detect two different outputs; Headset earphone and Speakers. Choose the latter of the two otherwise the sound gets distorted with crackling and very high pitched whining sounds. I purchased this based off a review by Hardware Canucks which can be found on YouTube and I don't regret my decision. I'm currently using this to drive my Hyper X CloudX headset. It even does ok driving my Massdrop/Sennheiser HD6xx headset. ... show more

  • Very disappointed. Worse 3D sound and 2.0 sound than my Alienware laptop.
Style: Amplifier
Let me start by saying that I have very, very high regards for Sennheiser. I consider them one of the best producers of audiophile level headphones - even the gold standard by many consumers. I own the HD 650s, the IE 800s and the S660 (one of the highest quality business USB headsets). I have owned about a dozen other Sennhesier headphones in the past 20 years. They were (and still are) my first go-to brand for a long time. I own other high end headsets like the Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro and have used and sold high end Shure and Grado models also. So this review comes from someone who has dabbled in the higher range of consumer audio equipment. I had high hopes for this amp. I used a Beyerdynamic MMX300 headset (currently considered the best consumer gaming headset on the market in terms of audio quality and mic quality) and Razer Thresher Ultimate 7.1 headset. Both of these sounds considerably better on my Alienware M17 laptop's built-in 3.5mm plug than on the Sennheiser GSX 1200 PRO. When I say "considerably better" I mean night and day difference. I used Dolby surround sound and Dolby 7.1 sound tests on YouTube (yes I know YouTube reduces audio quality with their codecs). I was excited to run a quick test as soon as I received this Sennheiser amp. What I hear disappointed me. The Sennheiser GSX 1200 PRO had a smaller soundstage and less spatial separation. My Alienware produced a much more realistic 3D environment than the GSX 1200 PRO. Night and day difference. I really didn't notice any separation with the GSX 1200 PRO (I was shocked). The quality of the audio was far superior on my Alienware. Better clarity, better precision and better balance with trebble, mids and bass with the Alienware. I spent about 30 minutes researching online trying to figure out if I was missing some settings. I installed the Sennheiser updater and the newest firmware. No difference. I also couldn't get my mics to work with the Sennheiser GSX 1200 PRO amp. I adjusted all my setting in Windows 10, Audacity and Skype - to try to get any mic sound. The only way I could was if I plugged the headset directly into the mic input on the GSX 1200 PRO - but it was low in volume. Maybe I missed something, but I wasn't gonna spend more time figuring this out. Back it goes! ... show more

  • Product is great although I received the WRONG MODEL
Style: Amplifier
I ordered the GSX1200 but received the GSX1000 instead. The wapping the box came in did contain a label that said "GSX1200" but the product ended up being the 1000. I didn't really care too much since the only difference is the daisy chain to other GSX units and I ordered the 1200 because it was the same price, but if you're looking for the 1200 specifically, be aware you might get the wrong one. Having said that the unit sounds fantastic. 7.1 and reverb for movies sounds like you're in an actual cinema. It's so freaky to remove your headphones and realize you're not listening to speakers... I love the fact that you can store presets and changing between stereo and surround on the fly. Wish Sennheiser did a unit like this with more power aimed for "audiophiles". ... show more
