The plane was pretty much ready to fly right out of the box. Just needed to charge the batteries (you get 2) and install into the battery compartment. Have the other battery handy for the next flight. No need to put on the landing gear unless you have a wide open paved area with no obstacles such as trees or cars. It's very easy to just throw the plane gently into the air (heading into the wind if any). FLY IT IN A VERY LARGE OPEN FIELD SINCE IT WILL END UP IN A TREE OR ON A ROOFTOP IF YOU DON'T!!! My 8 year old grandson and I had a blast each taking turns flying it. I may buy another one soon so we can have air battles or races. (NOTE) after writing this, I flew it way to high on a 10 -12 mph wind and it drifted away into a gated condo complex. Lost it but bought another and will learn a lesson...Fly it high only if winds are calm. That way it won't drift away with the wind when you cut the throttle! ... show more

Controls are horrible. Plane is too lightweight to control. Upon launching this thing, we had it on the neighbors roof in under 30 seconds. Will absolutely not handle in any type of wind - not even a light breeze. Controller is awful and isn’t responsive enough to control the plane. Whole experience with this junk was negative. My husbands and two sons absolutely LOVE this plane! Surprisingly the foam model is light but durable and has been through many crashes. The only thing you want to avoid is getting it stuck in trees or on the roof so wait for a day that is not windy. My husband and 8 year old can fly it just fine from our front yard all over the neighborhood. The yellow is nice and bright to spot in the sky as well. Comes with two batteries which is nice to have a charged backup at the ready. Also has extra parts if the wheels get bent and such. One of the most fun remote toys out there. ... show more

This is a great way to get used to flying drones. Its simple control allows for a beginner to experience what it feels like to control an object in the air. Only a forward throttle control and left and right. That's it, and it won't do any other complicated maneuvers. The airplane does stay upright through all this through its natural aerodynamics from the design.
