  • Useful Tool Kit
Has all of the basic tools in a plastic case. We all know today's products are made as cheaply as possible for reduced shipping costs and plastics replace metal. This one is no different. Has the basic sockets, wratchets and interchangeable bits for hex, straight and phillips. I agree with other posters that is has a good mix of tools for basic work. We're all used to these plastic split cases with parts falling out of the top section when opening. I have two of these and each one has 3 pieces that never stay tight...1/4 driver never did have that "locking" feeling on either of my 2 sets. The case isn't extremely durable, but it strong enough if you don't toss it around in a service truck. After enough use, the gripping/squeezing action that holds some of the box/open end wrenches and the 1/4-in driver will weaken. While opening the lid these will fall out. I only use the set on weekends and I keep it outside in plastic tub, so transporting it limited to a few hundred feet. I keep a piece of 1/4-in foam inside the case that prevents the tools from coming out of the holders and shifting around when I open it. The case is red so I used a giant black marker to write on the bottom of the case, "THIS SIDE DOWN" and on the top, "THIS SIDE UP" and arrows on the side. This is a good visual marker for me to keep the one side flat that has all of the sockets. The labeling on outside of the case is embossed, so the 1-in bold writing helps me keep the socket side down flat when opening. Otherwise all the sockets will spill out. Nearly every tool in the bottom section sits loose. That's okay if you never mess up and open the wrong side first. I have 2 of these, one in the garage and one further outside in a water tight tub. Other than a pliars and needle nose, I can field strip most small engine covers, carbs, fuel tanks, etc., on site without dragging back to the shed or garage. I would buy again. ... show more

  • Tools are great, but the case is so-so
This was the most complete ratchet and socket set I found in the price range, and I’m quite happy with the tool selection. I’m not sure I specifically needed yet another set of hex bits when I already have a master set, or yet another set of combi wrenches, but I couldn’t find a socket/ratchet-only set that compared. Plus I must admit that having a single kit of tools that can unfasten most things is pretty convenient. The case, however, isn’t great. It must be noted that people complaining didn’t get a defective case. The case simply doesn’t have retention tabs or pegs for most of the larger sockets or for the ratchets, and they sit loose in their wells. It is actually designed so that they have to be on the bottom, and need a solid covering of some kind otherwise, otherwise they just roll or slide out. It’s as if Epauto designed the socket portion to have its own lid, but moved it into a clamshell case set with the wrenches, spinner handle, and bits instead where that arrangement makes much less sense. So it’s absolutely imperative that you open the case with the EPAUTO logo up because only the tools in the lid snap in (and make sure you push the spinner handle all the way down when putting it back!). Luckily the cam locks make the case awkward to open upside down so you won’t forget this more than once. But it’s also imperative you do not throw away the foam insert, because that’s the only thing holding the sockets in their wells with the case closed. If you chuck that, the smaller sockets will fall out with the case vertical or upside down. At least it’s all well labeled so it’s easy to put them back correctly. All said, stuff does stay in place as long as you follow “the rules,” and they’re nice tools with an unusually useful selection. For the price, I can recommend the set. ... show more

  • SOCKETS FALL OUT
THE CASE DOES NOT HOLD THE SOCKET IN PLACE.WHEN I GOT IT IN THE MAIL I OPENED IT UPSIDE DOWN AND ALL THE SOCKETS FELL ON THE GROUND.

  • Ratchets are bone dry.
Overall I am satisfied with this set though I haven't used them yet. The finish looks excellent on ratchets, sockets and wrenches. However, I wish that the sizes were etched in a larger font. Also, the 3/8" ratchet is really loud. So loud, that I thought, "is it even lubed?" Well, I opened both ratchets up and neither were lubed. I lubed them both with Super Lube on the gear and a drop of 3-n-1 on the back-side of the switch. They seem better but the 3/8" ratchet still seems louder than any other ratchet that I own or have ever used. The kit comes with Torx bits and to open the 3/8" ratchet, I used the T10 that came in the set. However, the 1/4" ratchet required a T8 which doesn't come in the set. I thought that oversight was ironic. Another interesting point is that the set says it has three (external) Torx sockets however the E-sockets have 8 points. I'm pretty sure Torx by definition is 6 points. I believe 8-pts are for square nuts like you find on antique furniture. Doesn't matter to me either way cause I doubt that I will use E-Torx or 8-pts. Overall, I'm happy with the set and believe it was worth the money. ... show more
