My Cricut Maker 3 doesn’t recognize it as a debosser, so I have to use it on the cutting function, even then it’s barely noticeable. Not worth the money.

I'm reviewing "Engraving Tip + Scoring Tip + Fine Debossing Tip + QuickSwitch Housing for Cricut Maker 3/Maker/Venture/Explore 3/Air 2/Air, OVAN 3-in-1 Tool Set for Cricut Engrave/Score/Deboss Designs on Materials" which I received via the VINE program. I have a Cricut Maker 3 and this states it's compatible with my Maker 3. It's not. Not at all. Or so I thought, until I read the instructions. I was using these tools in my Maker the way I thought they should be used. I hadn't fully read the instructions. You are supposed to use the FOIL setting for the deboss and score tips and cut for the engrave tips. When I wasn't doing that, my Maker would NOT detect the tool and I very nearly chucked the package in the garbage. But then I stopped and read the instructions…. After that, they worked exactly like the instructions said they would. The images may be hard to see, but one is the deboss tool on foil bold, the other is the score tool with foil medium settings. Works great! I didn't have any acrylic to engrave so I didn't test that tip but assuming it would work just as well.

The media could not be loaded. Engraving Tip: I am impressed with the engraving tip in this set. I honestly did not expect it to perform as well as it did. I picked an extremely detailed and large image to engrave on an acrylic plate. I was quite nervous at first but I taped it down to the mat for extra security and it took about a half hour, taking two passes on each stroke. I set the prompt to Cut (not engrave) just like the instructions said to and I really thought it would not go well based on the acrylic being around 2 mm thick. But I was very wrong. It worked out great! I used compressed air to continually blow away the acrylic shaving off the tip and the mat. Pictures are below. Scoring Tip: This was the first tip I tried. I does make a concerning sound when applying pressure down to score but everything was fine. It scored the perfect amount, not too deep that the paper would rip and not too light so that I couldn't bend it. I used regular scrapbook paper, so relatively thick paper. I was able to construct a whole box very quickly. Again, I used the setting the instructions gave. Do not set to Score. Set it to Foil > Bold. It will not work if you try any other setting. Pictures below of the box. Debossing Tip: I was not as impressed with this tip as with the others. However I only tried it on a couple types of paper. Tim Holtz Kraft Stock, which is quite thick and scrapbook paper. It went deeper on the scrapbook paper but I could barely see it still and it pushed down hard because the paper ripped on the back where it was pressing and some stayed on the mat. I think really thin foil would be a good choice or very thin paper perhaps. I think you could also try doing more passes or more pressure? The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the debossing tip did not do great. I also asked if they have replacement tips for when the tips wear out but they don't have any and I couldn't find any anywhere. I was told they are hoping to have them soon though. I'm not sure that it is worth the cost completely if you are unable to buy replacement tips but when they are available I will be getting some of them for sure. It's not terrible exciting but I did include a video of the scoring tip as well.
