The rubber straps that lock this down decay and tear in just a year. They do not stand behind their product and replace these under warranty. You may save money up front from a yeti, but after spending $30 a year on straps each year to keep the cooler closed you spend more in the long run. Hopefully they will make better straps or this is a really expensive cooler that doesn’t stay closed. But a Yeti until they step up and take care of their customers.

Just received our cooler. Very high quality in general but especially the seal. We love that it’s certified bear resistant (when used with bolts/padlocks at the corners) because we’re doing some camping in Canada. Supposed to keep ice for 10 days- hoping it does! Will try and update after our trip this fall.

Well insulated, rugged, good latch system, nice tight seal. Should last many years. These coolers have come a long way since those cheap plastic Colemans.

I love this cooler. Its huge and heavy. But it keeps ice for a week! Remember to latch lid to get the most out of ice. Vacuum seals itself to the point of making it hard to open. Sometimes I will crack the drain screw to allow air in to be able to open the lid! Great cooler!!

I've had my cooler since March 2016 (about 4 months as of this review). One of the rubber latches already broke off from what appears to be dry rot and another is about to go. Way to soon for this to be happening on such a high dollar cooler. It should be noted though, I have a yeti that I've had for about 3 years and it's still fine, latches and all. I do use them both a lot. More than most I would suspect. I think when the latches are on it the Engel held ice better, but I'll venture to say the yeti is more durable. I contacted my Amazon seller (American Legacy Fishing Co) about the issue and they said they were no longer able to handle warranty claims. They sent me to Engel direct. I called Engel, and while the lady I spoke to was very polite and expressed concern over the damaged product, they "just ran out of replacement latches this morning," so they were unable to send me a replacement. Said they wouldn't have any more in for about a month. Maybe a common problem? So now I am here in baja Mexico about to go fishing with a very expensive piece of plastic that won't hold ice any better than a Coleman. I know what my next cooler purchase will be... or rather, won't be.
