Keeps habitat like a cooler should

Loaded the cooler to the gills with ice last Friday (January 26, 2024) around 3:45pm. Shut the lid and left the cooler in the back of my 99 4runner. The weather has been moderate for the last ten days with colder mornings but getting close to high 70s almost 80 some afternoons (Pinellas County FL). My car gets full sun all day at work as well. I didn't open the cooler until today (February 5, 2024) around the same time 3:50ish pm (attached picture). The cooler still had a lot of ice in the water (especially for ten days) and the water was still perfect habitat to keep beverages the perfect temp. I did take the basket and divider out before filling it with ice but those both come with the cooler as well. I plan to run the same test again in August when it's the hottest time of year here. Over all the cooler is lighter and more roomie on the inside compared to competitors and ide say holds ice just as long if not longer. I can easily one hand it around empty and filled completely with ice it was still light enough to pick up my self and put it in the back of my SUV. Another great product from Engel. Only complaint ide like to see more colors options but I'm sure that's in the works. ... show more

It's a great size and quite durable

I haven't seen that it keeps ice 7 days yet, but I also didn't take the time to prechill the inside before using. I ordered the 60 qt to replace the standard red and white variety store Coleman branded ice chest. While the lower end ice chest is lighter and easier to carry around, it's also less durable and doesn't keep things as cold for as long. Try as I might, I've never been able to find dividers for the variety store ice chests. They're all made to hold them, but try and find one. I appreciate the included basket on this. Things like candy bars stay cool without getting drenched down in the ice and water. I have several of the blue ice blocks I'm also looking forward to trying out. I'd love to see if those stay frozen solid for a few days too. It comes in many colors. I bought dark gray. Love the rubber feed on the bottom that keep it from sliding around the car. Love the rope handles that are just long enough to make finding a helper to carry practical. Best part of all is that this is a much better value than the big name one. On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate it a solid 10. I realize it's only 5 stars here, so it get 5 of those too. ... show more

Highly recommend this cooler upgrade

Our Engel 60 Qt replaced an ancient Igloo that we thought was just fine. Once we upgraded to an Engel, we understood how good a cooler could be, without being heavy and awkward to move and transport. I waited to write this so that we could really use this product: A trip to the Keys, two trips to Cocoa Beach, several family parties, and an upcoming trip to the Everglades. We really are enjoying this purchase. It has a beautiful design, stays cold for a few days, and we love the included divider and basket, integrated bottle opener, and the handles, latches, hinge, and drain, are really well planned. Heavyweight performance in a lightweight package.

This cooler is the perfect combination of weight, capacity and price. The heavy duty rotomolded 10 day ice retention coolers are awesome for extended trips, extreme heat, etc.- I own several of them, but that extended ice retention comes with a high price tag and some serious weight to lug around. Often (and most often) I only need to keep things cold from 1-4 days. I've used this cooler a couple times now, and once was for a long weekend. I did pre-chill the cooler overnight as I always try and do, but it lost less than half the ice over the 3+ days with the lid being opened repeatedly. I didn't really notice a difference in ice retention from my standard Engels or YETIs in that duration. I'm guessing 5+ days wouldn't be an issue. The reduced weight is appreciated when lugging it around (it weighs the exact same as my YETI 35, and has twice the capacity), and the price is right- bridging the gap between HD rotomolded monsters and cheap off the shelf semi-disposables that don't last or keep ice well. My standard Engels will still get the call for week-long hunting and fishing adventures, but this new "lightweight 60" is the perfect size and weight for daily to long weekend use. The included divider, basket, and built-in bottle opener are bonuses, as is the fact that most 750ml-1L wine and liquor bottles fit inside standing up- something that always annoyed me about most 50-65qt coolers.
