Although this case is made for 2nd gen readers, I'm still able to use it for my 1st gen reader that has the micro-USB port. Even though the power button is on the left side of the reader, they kept the button indents for both versions on the inside of the case, just not on the outside (as shown in the attached pic). All I have to do is press firmly on the left area of the case where the outside button should be for the 1st gen readers. Not sure who’s idea it was to make this, but that person deserves a raise! This is a simple yet functional product. I help my Dad with his business on the weekends and this makes it so much easier to have the square attached to my phone and not in a separate location where I would often have to try and find.
