My living situation calls for a convenient yet comfortable sleeping situation. I have done plenty of research, and determined that a shikibuton was the ideal solution for me. I have been using a mattress pad directly on the floor for 8 months or so. The supposed health benefits and comfort of a shikibuton were definitely attractive. Thickness - not the thickest, but I received exactly what I was expecting. Thinner than my mattress pad, but significantly more comfortable. Comfort - I have grown accustomed to sleeping on the floor, but this takes it to a whole new level. I love it. I definitely recommend giving it a few days to decompress before you will really see how comfortable it is. Warmth - the blanket is incredibly warm. I love it. Pillow - perfect height and head support for sleeping on a floor futon. Sleep quality - My sleep qualify has been great. I'm not accustomed to sleeping on my back yet, but I feel that is the healthiest way to utilize a shikibuton. My posture has already improved. My posture had been suffering due to sitting at a desk all day and little to no exercise. I am of slender / athletic build. I am not sure how someone with an already arched back would fair in a shikibuton. Despite the horrible delivery experience (at no fault of the seller), everything has been perfect. The delivery man delivered it to the other end of my building. I assume he climbed the stairs, and was too lazy to bring it back down - so he just bailed. This is all speculation.. I would like to give the benefit of the doubt, but the units are clearly number. You would have to be blind or lazy to not see the unit numbers. I would highly recommend this purchase. My girlfriend love it too. Once my current living situation comes to an end, we have committed to purchasing a king size shikibuton and tarami mat. Cannot wait. I love this thing so much. Would highly recommend and purchase another in a heartbeat. I am never going back to a bedspring and mattress.

Thank you very kindly, Emoor! I enjoy the futon and tatami very much! Futon is very comfortable and the duvet is weighty and soft. Being able to sleep in comfort on the futon has helped me rest more fully. I have noticed considerably less back pain from sleeping on a traditional futon than on a Western bed. You must want a firm surface if you consider buying this mattress. I love a firm bed and this mattress is exactly that. It helps align my back and I sleep soundly on it. Well worth the buy!

My husband and I built a tiny house with a loft as the bedroom. He surrounded the loft in cedar and we decided we wanted to go Japanese, as he is Japanese and I am mixed Japanese-American. We were ecstatic to see it came packed as you would expect from an authentic Japanese company and the turnaround was quick. We purchased a thin tatami mat to place over the cedar and this futon set fits perfectly. One for each. It is the type of futon we recall growing up with. You can tell by the quality and care that went into making it. He uses it alone, but I put a 1" foam topper on it. It has been exactly one year since we purchased it and it still holds up as if it were near-new. Mind you, we do put it out in the sun every few months or so to give it life. We love it so much that we recently bought another set for guests who may come to stay with us. Highly recommended!
