Description

This innovative resource for therapists trained in Standard EMDR delivers a powerful set of EMDR-based “Tools” - useful strategies for helping difficult- to-treat clients with complex emotional problems. The second edition reflects the author’s ongoing efforts to design treatments that can significantly extend the therapeutic power of methods based on an Adaptive Information Processing model. It describes new discoveries that promote effective ways of structuring therapy sessions and refines original treatment procedures that can facilitate and safely accelerate therapeutic progress. EMDR Toolbox provides an overview of the principal issues in treating these complex emotional problems and describes highly effective methodologies with a wide variety of clinical presentations that originate in or include disturbing traumatic memories. It also describes how to integrate specific EMDR-related interventions with other psychotherapeutic treatments. Each intervention is examined in detail with accompanying transcripts, client drawings, and case studies illustrating the nuances and variations in intervention application. Bolstered by supporting theory and current research, this EMDR book also discusses how the concepts and vocabulary of other models of dissociation translate directly into EMDR's Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) language. • Highly advanced modifications to EMDR
Jim Knipe is an amazing author, writing about very advanced updates to standard EMDR. In this book, you will learn about breaking EMDR down into such small pieces that even the most sensitive and vulnerable clients can still receive the therapy. Jim is humble and knowledgeable, writing about different theoretical perspectives without over privileging any. You will NOT regret buying this book. ... show more

  • The reviews are true
I used the techniques from this text to treat highly dissociative clients and those unable to tolerate the standard EMDR protocols. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to improve their therapeutic skills with EMDR.

  • Great book
I have been dealing with Complex PTSD pretty much my entire life and have had EMDR and read a ton of books on that and other PTSD subjects over the past 10 years, and this book was still able to open my eyes into one important aspect of my life, which I am in the middle of trying to tackle now. It's very hard, but without this book I would have never realized this very very important self-destructive habit that I have that is keeping me feeling worthless and stupid. Which I know I am not as I graduated valedictorian as an Online Media Specialist in CA (and English isn't my native language, I did this course when I first came to this country), and I graduated with honors from a German hotel school, and worked as an Executive Secretary at a major movie studio and credit card company..... After becoming a stay-at-home Mom I kind of got lost I guess...... Never thought I was a good enough mom, and then I felt like I could never do anything good enough anymore... I am very glad I came across this book! ... show more
