It works if you use it properly. I've had tremendous success using this for my hot flashes and night sweats. You can customize the cooling intensity and cooling times on many of the sessions. Start with the 1 minute Turbo Chill and you will get it! It has 1 button for cooling and 1 button for heating, and you can customize which session is activated by each button. You can also choose the brightness of the light, or turn it off completely. I only take mine off to shower and its been working great since I bought it in October. There was 1 time it wouldn't connect to the app, but I just reinstalled and it was fine. Two tips: you have to keep your hand OUTSIDE the blankets when you are sleeping to get the maximum benefit, and if you wear it for a long time in the same spot, your nerves start to get fatigued and less responsive, so after a bout 6 hours I move mine to a new location and you can really tell the difference. I find my most sensitive spot is on the inside of my arm, about 2 inches from my elbow. The wrist doesn't work for me.

How can a tiny cold spot on my wrist/forearm stop the hot flashes I have been battling for years? This is crazy! I have been on estradiol hrt patches for too long, and have tried to taper off -- reducing stregth and adding menopause relief supplements (estroven, amberen ...) with no relief until now. I was skeptical and figured I'd try it for a couple of weeks and return it. I won't be doing that!! It was charged when it arrived so I read the very short and simple printed instructions and put it on. At the onset of a hot flash I double tapped the little button on the left for cooling. Immediate waves of delicious iciness kicked in. At first it was a little confusing. I felt I was kind of having a hot flash but was distracted by that wonderful cold feeling. At the time I thought wow, if I had one of these on each limb, and on a necklace and a belt -- this could work. I continued throughout the day using it. When I downloaded the app and looked at the options I decided I better charge it so I could use the All Night Session. That's when I realized IT REALLY IS WORKING because I had another hotflash without the embrwave2 on and I felt a desperate need to run and get it off the charger and back on my wrist. I have been using it for 5 days and 4 nights now. The downside is that it doesn't feel great to have it positioned above my wrist, but the band does keep it securely positioned in place. That is small price to pay for the relief from the torment of hotflashes though, so I unreservedly give the embrwave2 5 stars! Lol this may work through some kind of self hypnosis. I am one of those people who can't be hypnotized BUT I think for me this works because I become so fixated on the icy sensation that my mind overrides the hot flash. I really don't care if it's a placebo or if there is a real physiological basis - it works for me.* *After using embrwave2 for about 6 or 7 weeks I need to add to this review. It DOES WORK just as I described above. The problem lies in the 'All Night Session' which is a programmable setting using the app. This session is supposed to deliver a milder 7-9 hour cooling session to alleviate hot flashes that wake you up. It only works for ME for about 4 hours, and unfortunately my 4-5:00 am hotflash still disrupts my sleep. After much contact with customer support it was determined the embrwave2 is still functioning properly. The problem was not a battery issue, it is a self protection mode to keep it from overheating, so it shuts itself off. There are suggestions to keep that from happening; not being fastened too tight, keep it out from under covers ... but those didn't work for me. All that said, I just skip the all night session and tap the button when I need. It does not overheat and shut down just from wearing it all night, it's just when it's programmed for the 'all night' session.

The concept is great if it worked. I don’t know where to begin. It’s not too big if you’re wondering I wore it with my Iwatch same wrist. It’s just not super comfortable because you need it to fit snugly to be in contact with your skin and if you are menopausal you wear it all day. I really thought this would sense when your pulse starts to race signaling the start of a hot flash and the cooling process would kick in but no such luck. Other reviewers said it gets hot that is true it heats up to begin the cooling process. Now the cooling is just not cold enough nor long enough to stop your hot flash. Using it with the app is great because I could never remember which button does what. However, if you wake up middle of the night sweating expecting facial recognition to work and it doesn’t, its too dark to see to type your password because you are near sighted then the app not as helpful. I love the idea of the 8 hour cycle I use that at night thinking it will prevent the flashes from starting if I were constantly cooling but that was the biggest dissatisfaction. First the bright blue light stays on for the full 8 hours I found it annoyingly bright. Next it will kill the battery around 4 am. Then the unit will overheat duh the light and it’s motor going for 8 hours was not tested properly this thing is more hot than cold. I did not test the hot feature I’m a walking oven. When you’re asleep it’s hard to keep the unit from being in contact with your body and that also contributes to it overheating. The bottom line - this will NOT prevent a hot flash from happening and the cooling is not cool enough or long enough to stop it before you are covered in sweat. A total fail I’m so sad

Had a patient rave about this device so I had to try it. I’m only one week in and not sure about the device . It was great the first few days , but started overheating in sleep mode last night. Reading the questions asked guide, it said not to have it covered during sleep basically. That defeats the purpose because it’s very uncomfortable to sleep with my arm uncovered . 🤔 It defeats the purpose of I’m still waking up drenched because the Embr is hot on top as well as at my wrist ! And yes it was blue for sleep cooling . I have zero need for heat . When I removed it, it put out cool vibes again but then warmed up shortly after. It does stop my hot flashes when they start. It lessens them if it’s cooling already when one starts. Gonna give it another week or so. Update to follow Update: returned this device. Even after the update, it worked or didn’t the same. Still warmed up if worn all day and/or night. Worked better if not worn consistently but that defeats the purpose. Ultimately not worth the money .

I have been dealing with heat intolerance for the last two years which recently got worse. I saw an ad for this product on Instagram and waited until there was a sale to purchase it. Being able to use the app is key to the performance of this device. I did have a problem where it wouldn’t connect once and I had to delete and repair the device with my phone. Otherwise, it’s been reliable. I’ve used both the heating and cooling functions and have found them to be beneficial. The cooling works better when I’m indoors, but that is probably more that it’s not having to work against higher temperatures when I’m indoors. I’ve found the cooling comfort setting has been helpful in stressful situations, too. I do use the one-hour cooling setting to fall asleep and have found I sleep better than before. I haven’t had a night sweat in a while. That said, I don’t love the wrist band it comes with. It’s a bit uncomfortable and difficult to keep in place. It also takes a long time to charge fully, and an extra charger is $50, so I won’t be buying one. Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase. It seems worth the investment to me for the improvement to my comfort level that I’m experiencing.

Update 9/2024: I still love this, but it had to be replaced once because it wouldn’t connect to the app, and now neither of them stay connected to the app. I still wear it because it’s great during hot flashes and also has the warmer function to take the chill off. It only works for the shorter sessions that are a couple minutes long since there’s no app capability. I’ve tried dozens of times to get either one to connect and they just don’t after a while. The original one got replaced because it wouldn’t stay connected and now the replacement also doesn’t connect. This is a functionality issue they need to work on. I’d still buy it because it’s an absolute lifesaver during a hot flash using the manual setting. But it’s disappointing that I can’t use all the functionality it’s supposed to have. Also, I’d buy it directly from the company because Amazon is considered a third party seller and they don’t want to honor the warranty if purchased through Amazon. Original review: This is a better purchase than I expected. It remains to be seen how long it lasts, I’ve only had it for just over a month. I bought this for support during hot/nauseous flashes. I will say that it doesn’t “make you cooler” or warmer, but it does distract you and make you more comfortable. I don’t really understand the “why”, but I’ve been using it on the all night cooling setting every night and it helps me sleep a little more soundly. I’ve used the warm wave in cool rooms and it’s ok. It kind of takes away the shivering feeling, which is helpful. I’ve used the cooling in different situations and I wish it would continue to flash as cool as it does when you first turn it on. It seems to only be super chilled for the first wave, and I want it to be that chilly for every wave. I don’t think it’s supposed to be that cold every time, but I wish it would. It’s large and could be a little more discreet, but I don’t care since it works. Overall, it’s a solid purchase as it provides some relief. I’ll continue to use and recommend it as long as it lasts.

My cousin has one of these for hot flashes. I am older than her and thought I would try it for "cold flashes". I have a time every afternoon where my hands get so cold that my fingers go numb. This works for that problem, better than I expected. It is a little bulky because you wear it on the inside of your wrist. Charging is quick. I like the rose gold color . Setting up the app and connecting to it was easy. The price quoted here is less than usual, which caught my eye. I don't wear it full time because I don't need it full time. Works great for my afternoon chill.

i purchased this to combat hot flashes and also just being generally too warm all the time. it was easy enough to hook up and get started. and i gave it the old college try for about two to three weeks. when i pushed the button to start a round of cooling, i will admit that for about 20-40 seconds it definitely felt cooler under my wrist. however, that was short lived and it never was cool enough, long enough to help me get control of my temperature. i REALLY wanted this to work! it worked kinda, but not anywhere near well enough to justify the cost of it! i also hated how heavy and bulky it was. because it has to be worn on the inside/under part of your wrist, it was constantly getting in my way. and whenever it was running, i had to be careful not to touch the top of it because it would become very warm, almost too hot. i sincerely hope that the next few generations of this gadget can work out the kinks, because if it REALLY worked, it would be worth double the cost to me.
