I had one requirement when buying earbuds. Long battery life. Every brand says “48 hours” but they mean 6 hours with 8 charges. Not with these and I’m super happy about that. I work in a data center environment. Noise levels are a consistent 90+db and I love my music. I hate stopping to charge. My coworker bought a pair first and after debating, I pulled the trigger and I’m glad I did! First off, the battery. 12 hours easy on the bud charge with several days worth in the case. I have zero complaints on battery life. The case: the case is nicely built. I find myself fidgeting with the lid and it hasn’t broken yet. USB-C charging is something that is wonderful to see as it’s becoming the norm. I had originally thought the flashlight would be a gimmick, but I use it a lot. In a data center environment it’s nice to have a bright light handy for the dark server crevices. The earbuds themselves. The noise cancellation is top notch because it’s passive rather than active (also helps the battery life. ANC is a power vampire). If I don’t want to listen to music, they function as earplugs, albeit a bit bulky compared to foam ones. The several included tips made customizing to my fit easy as well as the in-ear hooks. They don’t fall out, they don’t feel loose. They can be used as a pair or on their own which is a nice touch, even if it makes me look a little pretentious. Sound quality is excellent. It’s not 7:1 by any means but I can hear my music, it isn’t muffled or muddled by overzealous bass. They did well. As noted in other reviews, there is no volume adjustment. I use my Apple Watch to adjust volume. It’s really not a deal breaker. Considering they’re earplugs, you don’t have to adjust the volume much anyways because the noise outside stays constantly quiet. I also use them when cleaning. It’s wonderful to be able to vacuum and hear my music without turning it up to 112%. Now for the downsides. All of which I don’t deduct stars because I (somewhat) expected it. Pairing issues. Every now and then when removing them from the case they don’t auto pair. Putting it back in the case and removing again allows it to power cycle and connect. Usually one time does it. Most I ever had to do was 6 times. Annoying, but manageable. On the note of pairing issues, usually when paused, one will drop. Usually the right earbud, but sometimes the left side. It will reconnect on its own but it’s jarring to be in silence when talkin to a coworker and hear “PAIRING”. It’s got me good a few times. Since it pairs itself again, I don’t mind. I know pairing issues tend to arise with wireless buds as one tends to be the “relay”. I’m honestly not hard to please so this doesn’t bug me but it may bug you. Overall, this is one of the best purchases I’ve made. It’s improved my quality of life at work and meets their NRR -25db requirement for earpro. I got them on sale. If they’re on sale for you, grab a pair. Even at full price, they’re well worth it. PS. Elgin also makes over-ear versions if in-ear isn’t your style.

I just received my Elgin Rebels today and so far I'm impressed. There are plenty of options for ear tips included. The case is nice and beefy and feels like it will take some abuse. I settled on the tips that came installed and they fit my ears great. I'm used to in-ear earbuds and plugs so I don't think there will be much of an adjustment period for me. I was surprised at the sound quality. I will say they tend to be slightly bass-heavy, but some tweaking in my Amazon and Android equalizer gets them to where I think they sound really good. I'm looking forward to seeing what the actual battery life is compared to my Monster Air Link and Soundcore Liberty Pro buds. I can get about 6 or 7 from the Monster and a disappointing 3 or 4 from the Anker Soundcore. The claimed 15+ hours per charge was a big selling point with these as that is a very difficult run time to find at any price point. The fit and finish are very good and what I'd expect for this price. One drawback is that you CAN NOT control the volume via the earbud buttons. You control the volume either manually through the device they're connected to or by voice command via Google Assistant or Siri. If Elgin USA reads these reviews...PLEASE, do a software update to allow button mapping similar to the Anker Soundcore app. It makes it so nice to set up the buttons to do precisely what you want them to! *ONE NOTE* If you read other reviews here and find the one where the genius claims that they are poorly made due to "water spots" on the case, please ignore it. There are no water spots. It is part of the design of the case to break up the monotonous black and provide some grip. You can see it in the product photos at Elgin USA and also if you zoom in on the Amazon photos. I just seriously had to address that comment. Overall, I'm very happy and look forward to seeing how they handle daily life on the job and at home. Right now I'm giving all-around 5 stars and will change those in the future if I feel the need to. Give them a try and you may be pleasantly surprised! Just as a side note to all those who say these are made in the USA. I can find nowhere that says these are US-made. The only information I could find is in fine print on the box that says "Designed in Fort Worth, TX" and "PRC Manufactured". So, while the company may be USA based, this leaves me to believe these are actually made in The Peoples' Republic of China. Hopefully, I'm wrong, or Elgin USA will clarify or correct it, but it is what it is. That said, I still think these are solid earbuds with great sound and a good deal of passive noise reduction. 25db is as good as my earplugs. I'm looking forward to giving them a workout and see how long the batteries actually last!

I work at a sand and gravel mine on 12 hour shifts. The work is muddy, hot and dusty in the summer and freezing in the winter. I needed something tough with a long battery life and IP rated. These fit the bill perfectly with their NRR rating. Too bad they don't work. I returned my first pair because the right bud disconnected one day and wouldn't ever reconnect. I did all the troubleshooting steps. Repaired. Wiped my network settings and factory reset the buds, still wouldn't connect. Opened up developer settings and tried new combinations of the Bluetooth settings. Nothing. I reached out to Elgin support, shot off an email and waited a week. Nothing. Tried again, no response. So I returned them, thinking maybe a faulty pair. Nope, same issue two months in. It's sad because these are perfect for my application. Perfect. If they actually worked. There's no way the firmware can be updated, so if one loses connection to the other, they're worthless except maybe for audiobooks. The fit was great, they block out noise just like real hearing protection, and they're great sounding, when they work. Which they don't. And they don't even have the decency to reply to emails about their shoddy product. They know what they did.

I work in sheet metal fabrication, which can be one of the loudest trades out there. The air hammers we use to close Pittsburgh seams on duct are unholy loud—how many decibels, I don’t know, but I know your ears will INSTANTLY be ringing if you use one without hearing protection. I know plenty of guys in our local who have hearing loss and several retirees with severe hearing loss. I mention all of this because these Rebel earbuds effectively bring the noise of those air hammers down to within a comfortable range. So, unless your trade has you working near active jet engines, your ears are probably safe (with proper insertion of course). Which brings me to my first lament: the foam tips on these earbuds are considerably stiffer than the soft foam earplugs that I’m used to, so right off the bat they’re less comfortable. A second lament is that their attenuation (25 dB) isn’t quite as good as the latter (30-32 dB). I’m not speaking from numbers but from experience alternating between the two. If your work exposes you to noise consistently at 115 dB or greater, that difference is crucial. One other lament is that unlike with the foam earplugs we use at work (Radians specifically) with the Rebel foam tips there is some conduction (i.e. inner amplification) when you speak. If you work mostly by yourself (e.g. self-employed, shop work), this may only be a minor annoyance but for someone doing field work I can see this driving them absolutely crazy. (Then again, I can see someone in the field who can’t hear anything over the music in their earbuds driving their COWORKERS absolutely crazy.) Now, onto the good stuff. First, these earbuds sound GREAT. I’m not an audiophile, but I’m not a casual listener either. I have my preferences when it comes to audio equipment: Yamaha for receivers, Grado for headphones, and though obscure today, Athena’s SCT series for speakers and subs. To me, these earbuds are well-balanced with rich bass that isn’t boomy. I wasn’t expecting all that much at $130 so I was impressed. Bluetooth connectivity was also great. Initial pairing was easy, there’s no time-out (that I encountered anyway), and they automatically pair and unpair when respectively being removed from or placed back into their charging case. One firm press on the right earbud is all that’s needed to pause/unpause audio. When you’re wearing work gloves all day, that simplicity is very convenient. So, why four stars? Discomfort, even with the smaller set of foam tips. And I don’t mean mild discomfort. We’re taking ear canal cracked-and-bleeding, please-pass-the-naproxen levels of pain. No, seriously: I actually took naproxen at one point to deaden the pain from wearing these. What’s more, the foam tips trapped perspiration in my ears, which found its way out while I was sleeping (which was a pretty jarring discovery at first until I realized what it most likely was). Days after I had stopped wearing them my ear canals became encrusted with flaking, scaly skin due to the irritation. At that point I called to schedule a visit with an ENT physician. Fortunately it resolved on its own, so I cancelled. I’m still not sure why these hurt my ears so much. There are only two foam tip sizes and the smaller ones had just enough rebound to create an acoustic seal, so I don’t think it’s a sizing issue. I’ve since bought Elgin’s Rampage headphones but their attenuation is disappointingly insufficient for my type of work. So now my choices are listening to headphones (any kind) while wearing foam earplugs or, well, just wearing foam earplugs. All of which is to say: these earbuds are fantastic IF they fit your ears. There’s no guarantee they will, however. I would recommend starting with the smaller set of foam tips (the larger foam tips were on mine out of the box) and first see if those work for you, both in terms of attenuation and comfort. If you find the size that works for you and three shifts in you’re not experiencing any aches or pains, then lucky you. I only wish I could say the same.

This is the Elign product I have been waiting for! I've also used their Ruckus and Rumble ear buds and can attest that Elign just keeps improving upon their product. With each product I have appreciated the functionality and quality but am ALL IN on these Rebel wireless earbuds! The wire around the neck and ears getting tangled/caught is a thing of the past. I use this product for so many things (shooting, DIY projects, yardwork, audiobooks and music) and have found them to be invaluable in protecting my ears, which is not something I have been very good at in the past. With other earbud products I have had to turn the volume up in order to hear, which really wasn't protecting anything. With Elign I can listen to my audio at a reasonable decibel because the plugs do their job protecting/reducing the external sounds while providing crisp audio. The Rebel line really stepped up the bass-game too, which is nice. I love the convenience of being able to pop these in and out easily and use the ear button functions to start/stop audio and calls (I have had no issues w/ call clarity either). By far the must FUN feature is the flashlight built into the case! Since I have these in my pocket pretty much constantly, it's been so nice to have a flashlight handy that surpasses the brightness of my phone and is MUCH easier to manipulate and get into spaces my phone would not otherwise light adequately. I'll never be in the dark when camping again!

When the package arrived I opened it and charged the headphones, and case. Tried them at home and loved how they fit, and the sound quality, even had zero issues in my work uniform with my phone in cargo pocket while I made dinner, never skipped, connected quickly, great sound quality. Then I arrive at work, bragging about how awesome they are to coworkers, then go out on the floor in the plant and BOOM!!! Left ear keeps dropping, music is skipping, only good is they do function as regular earplugs, blocking the sound of the machines. ABSOLUTELY disgusted with the fact that my $30 JLAB ear buds from WALMART stay connected 1000x's better than these $150 (with shipping) ear buds do. Against my better judgement I purchased them and now after 30 minutes at work I am ready to literally throw them in the crusher, as I just wasted all that money for nothing. They need to load up better software or something to get these to stay connected better. Would not recommend them to my ex-wife! Absolute trash!!! Edit.... After 2 shifts with the product, as long as you pick ONE ear to listen to music in and turn the other earbud off then there is zero skipping and dropping of the music. So still VERY disappointed in the product for $129. 2nd edit..... Customer service reached out and sent another pair and they were better, still issues staying connected, however they also had reached out with an updated version of the wired headphones, and I must say HUGE improvement over previous version. Loved them!!!! Only downside is that the company I work for wanted to see some kind of proof of the passive noise reduction rating. And after many attempts at getting some kind of test result, I am left with over $300 spent on Elgin products that I cannot use at work. They are great for mowing my lawn once a week, but would have been better used for 12 hours shifts 4x a week at my job.

Updated 4/12/23 Ultimately I returned these. It seemed like the more I used them the more issues I had with them disconnecting or not pairing both buds. Even with the tricks I figured out to get them connected again it was just too much hassle for this price range. I also ordered replacement tips but they're a different foam than the ones that come with the buds and are so hard/firm they hurt my ears after just a couple minutes. I emailed about this and the guy said he'd mail me some that come with the buds but I never got them, now I'm out $25 for replacement buds that are garbage. Initial impression was actually pretty terrible, because the ear plugs that they ship with were nowhere near my size and neither were the large version, and with those installed the sound quality was about as good as two Coke cans held up to my ears....no bass and terrible tone. I switched to the largest foam plugs and once I got them properly into my ears that's when the sound started coming through. You can't put these in your ears like other earbuds, you have to put them on like safety ear plugs (especially if you use the foam tips). With the foams I roll them in my fingers to compress them, then with my other hand reach around my head and pull my ear up/back which opens your ear canals and then you can get them inside your ear as far as they need to go. This is how you achieve what is probably the best bass I've ever heard from earbuds without sacrificing any of the mids or highs. This is what really sets these apart from other earbuds, they seal to your ear and just like a sealed speaker box that helps to create awesome bass, so good I actually turned it down a bit from my normal preset. The cons....well the case is a brick, but if it means more battery life then I'm ok with it (time will tell). Pairing worked perfectly the first time and then after trying them out on my PC and going back to my phone that's when I started getting sound from only one side. Another review recommended pressing both buttons 3 times at the same time and indeed that does pair them, but be patient because it does take a few moments. They're more finicky to pair than iPods but I haven't had any issues once they're both paired. Switching between devices definitely causes hiccups so if that's something you do often these may be annoying. I think these would be awesome for any loud environment, not just work. I can see myself mowing the lawn with them in and the best part is you don't have to blast them on high volume to hear your music over the noise...that's the best thing about these buds, basically they take noise cancelling to a whole other level (once you get the right tips for your ears and you get them in properly). Lastly I don't think it's even possible for these to fall out, you could probably get tackled by a professional NFL lineman and they'd stay in your ears. With the foam tips I have to deliberately pull them out (if you've wore foam earplugs you know what I mean). Anyway if at first they seem to not work out, try out different tips, make sure they're in, try to get over the pairing hiccups and then I definitely think they have advantages over other options even 3x this price.

2 weeks into ownership of the Rebels and I am loving them! The foam ear tips seem to be the best fit for my ears but wish they came with more. They fit well in your ear and don’t fall out. When you get them put in right the audio quality is way better over my AirPod pros but very bass heavy, which I like but definitely would like to have some more mids for vocals. Bass seems to drown out certain songs. But overall amazing quality product. Flashlight is bright and I tend to use it all the time because the case is on me all the time very handy.
