  • Big bang for the buck!
I'm on crutches for a few months. A friend loaned me a different knee scooter. That scooter had smaller diameter front wheels, a brake that doesn't lock and the basket was missing. I went looking for a new scooter and found this one. So what do I like about it? This scooter has the largest diameter front wheels I could find. They do a good job of comfortably rolling over door sills, rugs, and other things that could catch a wheel. Catching a wheel is bad. You still need to be cautious and you need to stay on smooth surfaces if possible. The front track is also wider. This adds to overall stability but likely increases the turning radius. However you will soon learn to lift the scooter at a standstill with your good leg to get around tight corners so this is not a problem. Keep in mind that this is a folding scooter so it is easier to transport in some circumstances. However requires 3 extra quick releases. One is on the frame and are on two front wheels. Proper assembly is critical but not difficult. There is a very basic assembly sheet provided. Watch for two small loose parts when you open the box. These are key to making the handlebar quick release work. They belong in the top of the quick release lever and are easy to install. The front wheels DO NOT fall off on their own so long as the scooter is assembled and maintained correctly. The axels for the front wheels are installed using quick release levers. as this is a folding scooter to make transport easier (see above). These need to be installed correctly and inspected regularly along with the main frame quick release and the handlebar quick release. I installed the front wheel quick releases with the levers closing on the top side of the frame up so you can readily see that the levers are in a closed position. You should check the quick releases every time you use it. Pull on the front wheels as a double check. The brakes work off wheel friction on the rear wheels rather than a drum brake that is sometimes found on more expensive scooters. The wheels are very smooth so you need to make sure that their surface is roughed up for good braking. Be careful on wet ground. The brakes are direct acting, on the wheels and if the wheels get wet braking is tougher. This scooter is a bit lighter than other scooters which makes it getting in and out of the car easier. The basket isn't wire but it works. When assembled and maintained properly this is an excellent scooter especially for the price. The blue color is as advertised and the wheels are very racy. It's a chick magnet! (not really). If you are prepared to be the envy of the knee scooter set order one today! ... show more

  • Very well constructed knee scooter
I have been using this scooter for a month now to maneuver around the house after ankle surgery. I like the larger front wheels, but be prepared to help it over thresholds and edges of area rugs. Keep both hands firmly on the handle bars if you have ceramic tile floors as the wheels tend to catch in the grout lines and jerk suddenly left or right. I haven’t taken it outside, but I imagine there would be similar issues with seams in your driveway and sidewalk or if you hit a small stone or a twig. The tires are solid, like on rollerblades, maybe even a little harder. The brake is adequate but don’t rely on it to stop very quickly - it’s more of a gradual slow down. Most of the time, I just use my good foot to stop. It was easy to assemble in about 15 minutes, although when I was done, I found that the handle bars were a little crooked (turned to the left when the wheels themselves were going straight). This wasn’t a huge issue and doesn’t affect the overall functionality of the scooter, but when you point the handle bars straight, you want to be going straight, not slightly to the right. I was able to correct this myself with the help of a 6mm hex wrench. Before you click the steering column into place, install the handle bars tightly into the steering column and put on the front wheels. That way as you raise the column up into place you’ll be able to tell if the handle bars are aligned or not. If not, just slightly loosen the hex bolt found inside the bottom of the steering column, turn the handle bars until they line up correctly with the front wheels, then carefully tighten the hex bolt again. Then click the steering column-handle bar assembly into place. I’ve found it more comfortable to place a folded bath towel on the kneeler for added cushioning and to prevent your bare skin from sticking as it starts to sweat with prolonged contact. Also, to me, the rubber handle bar grips have an off smell to them which then leaves your hands smelling funny, almost like you’ve been chopping onions. I’ve covered mine with a pair of running socks which helps tremendously. Overall I really like this scooter. It’s very sturdy, comfortable and priced well - a great value. ... show more

  • Modifications needed to keep handle bars from sinking down..
So overall very nice scooter for the price. My wife has been using the scooter everyday for the past 6 weeks. We have really only one complaint. The mechanism that locks handle bar position is not up to snuff. Handle bars drop slowly down overtime. Enough that I felt it was a saftey concern for my wife. When you need to use a device like this you put a lot of weight and strain on the handle bars. You can only tighten them up so much, in fact I stripped the bolt that clamps the bars. My fix was to replace adjustable clamp bolt with an 8 mm bolt and nut to keep bars from turning back and forth. I drilled a 5/32 Hole through steering shaft and added a clevis pin at the height that works for her. Problem solved! I would recommend marking shaft to collar after you set your height for handle bars so you can see when it starts sinking. Recommend buying additional pad for seat worth the money. ... show more

  • Glad I have it but Wish I bought better
So much better than crutches for weeks non-weight bearing recovery but wow - wish I’d bought better model. 1. First thing PT said “ narrow rear wheels not very stable”, Correct! Wiped out twice, 2. Lockable brakes. Hardly. You have to squeeze hand break very hard to engage locking spring. Friction brakes do not stop or hold the scooter, just somewhat impedes your roll 3. Better leg rest, only had a week & sinking in already. 4. Not much from turn radius, unless you have a huge house you’ll be pushing the back away from you to turn around in bathroom, kitchen, foyer etc. 5. Rubber tires. Catch your toes under these front metal wheels no you’ll remember it - ouch! 6. Foldable? Not hardly for a person standing by their car on one leg trying to load scooter into hatch or trunk. Fooling w multiple “quick-released” takes a long time & strength & leverage where there is none. If you have someone helping you maybe but my goal was Independence. Ag ... show more
