  • Awesome kit
This was a lot of fun to build. Camera quality is superb. nice instructions. strong quality components. i am new to robots and coding and this was not too easy and not too hard.

  • Good
It was easy to build with an hilariously large instruction guide

  • Great project for pre-teen kids
We got this for our 8-9 year old boy for Christmas and he couldn’t wait to open. Very well made. Took a little bit of help from dad to do the electronics part but more so just to make sure he didn’t break off any of the connectors. His 11 year old sister enjoys playing with it as well. Product is very well made and sturdy. Battery life is pretty good for this having a metal chassis. He has run it for 30-40min with no sign of battery running low yet. We have taken it off road and goes through about any rough terrain however the bottom sensor hangs low so it will bottom out. We removed that and just drive using the phone instead of using that mode. Overall recommend this product to feed any kids curiosity and creativity. ... show more

  • Lights would have been nice.
I have an issue at my place that requires my inspecting down in the crawlspace. I found a nice from scratch build on the internet that gave me a really nice idea. I will still be building one like that one. I can safely say that this kit will do nearly everything I wanted to do. It only took a little drilling and tapping but I was able to reduce the height of the unit by nearly 4 inches by moving the camera assembly to the front from the top. It even allows me to peer around corners just in front of the treads. Adding a flashlight to the top gives me the ability to see under the house. it is far cheaper than buying a dedicated crawler for that purpose and since it can be controlled from a phone, it is quite useful. I did have to make a longer UART cable, but all in all, this is very nice kit fpr a purpose completely different from what it was sold for. I even showed it to a couple of plumbers and they are going to buy one now as well. All the niceties aside, the tracks roll too fast, and control across both sides isn't consistent. This is the reason I took away one star. I am going to try to stick a raspberry pi in there. The case is big enough to add a bunch of sensors within it and still have it be protected. Definitely worth getting. ... show more

  • Very nice item, complicated enough to be challenging, but looks great
the item arrived quickly and had a lot of stuff in it. It was well-organized, and my daughter's class was able to put it together, but they had issues with a piece or pieces burning. So, carefully follow the instructions. It would be best if they had better instructions. For the price, it is not very user-friendly, but the item looks great once assembled. it is definitely a worthwhile project to take on. ... show more

  • As described
Exactly as described and fullfills expectations. One thing I'll note is that devices like this tend to be confusing for people to connect to, but here's the trick, if using a smartphone or tablet with data: your cellular data, or mobile data, has to be be turned off when you are connecting to this device's wifi. If you don't, the phone will fall back to cell data even if you "successfully connect" (but the app says you aren't connected) hopefully that helps someone! ... show more

  • Neat little tank project for starters
The tracks on this kit are from a Henglong RC Remote Control 1/16 Tank (M26 Pershing 3838) and are a little short, the suspension is forced compressed on the back and this makes the plastic bend causing the rear wheels to warp outwards bending the tracks. Getting some extra segments or longer track might help as well as moving the mounting points of the pivots. It is possible to get an upgraded set of metal wheels from the tank manufacture but they are about $80 or so. This kit works with the remote and can cycle through different modes, forwards and backwards on the remote makes the tank turn while trying to drive so I don't know if it's a bug in the code or what, left and right works fine so it can can steer in place. The metal frame is sturdy enough once assembled and could be used for wheeled vehicles as well. Going to gut the project and toss on something more beefy like an Nvidia Jetson of some kind and replace the suspension with metal ones. ... show more

  • great easy kit
some of the pieces are thin and easy to break. I broke one of the axels trying to tighten the screw that holds the wheel on. I used some krazy glue and a small clamp and repaired it. a great kit for beginners. no code needed to operate but can be controlled with code. works better with app than the remote. with the remote you need line of sight to IR receiver but not wth the app. that said the configuration the instructions lead you thru puts the battery in a place where you can't plug in a charger,.. or if you install it where you have access to charger port you can't reach the power switch. with very little with you can place the battery pack to where you can reach both. has a great camera for a less expensive kit- again works better with the app. ... show more
