  • Best in the business
Color: Black Pattern Name: Microphone
This thing is amazing! The sound quality is unreal and there’s a reason why you see so many professionals using it. It gives you that radio sound you’re looking for and it’s built like a freaking tank. I cannot recommend this thing enough.

  • Not a single problem over years of use with many mics
Color: Black Pattern Name: Microphone
I have been working with 5 different radio stations in my area for about 15 years. I regularly play with a large variety of audio equipment. The Electro-voice mics have been rock solid, and the best sounding of all. The bigger station I work with has 15 or so RE20 and RE320 mics that they use for all of their voice work. So far, I have never had an EV mic come with a buzz or hum problem of any kind. They have all been perfectly dependable right out of the box. When I decided to setup my own personal studio, I went with the EV mics. I bought one of each the RE320 and the RE20. At first I did have some noise problems, but I discovered that the issues were coming from a problematic mixer and some incorrect settings with the audio processing equipment. Once I got those ironed out everything has been great. I would recommend EV mics every single time, especially the RE20. They really are fantastic. ... show more

  • You cannot beat this mic for the price
Color: Black Pattern Name: Microphone
The tonal range of this mic is simply amazing. It's built like a tank but faithfully reproduces my voice. Paired up with a Rodecaster Pro II, there's little else to say other than "wow". You really can't ask for more. I'm glad I got this mic and will get more for our studio once the budget allows.

  • Pricey but Worth It for Professionals
Color: Black Pattern Name: Microphone
I'm building a home studio, and I chose this mic because it's the exact same one we've used at all the radio stations I've worked at over the past 23 years. The sound is rich (not hollow or tinny), and there are versatile stands you can use with it. For professional quality voicework, this mic is the way to go! ... show more

  • This is the MIC and the Sound you are looking for!
Color: Black Pattern Name: Microphone
Wasted your time with cheap mics like Yeti Blues or $100-200 mics? Well, I did too and I wasn't happy about it. I spend a ton of time watching reviews and comparisons, history, and sound samples and this is where I ended up at. Having been used for vocals on several famous records in the 60's alone and continues to be used in just about every studio. Not to mention that it's a staple in just about every radio station or broadcast session. Here's my big takeaways and why this is my fav mic: 1) Cost is relatively low compared to high end mics. Expensive for small time or beginner podcasters or musicians but will last you a lifetime and you'll still be at the top of your game. 2) Rejects background noise VERY well. If you are in an untreated room (i.e. you don't have acoustic panels etc.) this can still sound really great. 3) Built in Pop filter that can handle most plosives without requiring a separate Pop filter (your mileage may vary though depending your voice). Speak into the mic off center if it's an issue. 4) Great at handling proximity effect - you don't have to worry about your tone changing if you aren't always on top of the mic. 5) Built like a tank - this thing will be around after the bombs drop with cockroaches and Keith Richards. ... show more

  • That FM voice that you did not know you had
Color: Black Pattern Name: Microphone
This microphone did not disappoint. It even made me believe my voice is great, with that warm late night FM voice. If that is what you are looking for, go for it. It produces clear, intelligible recordings with pleasant, rounded, not over the top, non-fatiguing basses and trebles. I was torn between this and the Shure SM7b, and am glad I got the Electro Voice. I have not tried it for singing yet but on my preliminary tests it seems to perform well on acoustic guitar, and is much less sensitive to room acoustics than large diaphragm condenser mics. ... show more

  • Just buy it.
Color: Black Pattern Name: Microphone
For all the naysayers about this mic, use it correctly. This mic is amazing. I mean, it’s used on ESPN every day. There is just enough low end on this microphone to create a presence. The highs are perfectly set for clarity and the lows decrease the muddiness to an exact level. It sounds amazing. It looks amazing. I’m here for it. Do yourself a favor and buy this mic. ... show more

  • Electric noise/buzz/hum. Look up "RE20 electric buzz"
Color: Black Pattern Name: Microphone
Although this microphone has a lot of potential, the microphone has issues that have not been addressed by the company. I had seen complaints online about it beforehand but was hoping they were a small percentage. It's something to do with manufacturing changes made after 2012 that leads to the microphone sometimes accentuating and boosting the electrical noises that it's meant to get rid of. Regardless, i bought this microphone to replace my SM7B because I liked the audio overall more than the SM7B in the comparisons I saw online for voice/guitar and was hoping I would not get one of the faulty mics. I ended up with the annoying coil/electrical noise sadly. Not worth the risk of investment/time to repeatedly go through a return and replacement process to receive a working one for me. I've seen complaints that even if you get a working one, it could be faulty within a few months. Maybe that risk or extra effort isn't as annoying for you. Edit: I ended up getting a replacement because I just like the audio so much more than the SM7B. The buzz still exists with this model if I have the chain as microphone -> cable -> fethead -> interface. However, this time the buzz gets removed if the chain is set as microphone -> fethead -> cable -> interface. With my first mic, the noise persisted regardless of how I set up the chain. I am happy with the results so far. Hopefully it doesn't malfunction. Will update the post if it does. ... show more
