This warmer is just ok. I was not entirely pleased with the quality and material of it. The setting button was also hard to push and adjust. There are 3 timer settings (1hr, 2hrs, and 4 hrs) and only has 3 heating settings (140°, 175° and 215°) so you really cannot adjust much. It did however heat up fast. I'm not sure what the purpose is the lock setting is for. It has very tiny silicone legs so it doesn't touch the counter but they're a bit on the shorter side than I would like so you would need to be careful that it doesn't harm the counter. It is a portable pad that is easy to wipe clean, easy to plug in and store it away by rolling it up. This is probably not the best value for the money.

This is one of those things I didn't know I needed until I started using it. I came across this while browsing. It looked interesting, so I bought it and I'm so glad I did. It was the talk of a recent party that I hosted. It kept the food warm, allowed me to control the temperature and length of time of it being on. The lock function is neat - if locked you can't change the settings until you unlock it. Very easy to use, clean and put away. I'd recommend this over others out there.

I like the concept of this for buffet serving, which I often do if having dinner parties. It's large enough for perhaps three dishes, yet stores compactly. With the mat set on highest temp setting (215F), with a thermal scan instrument I measured a range of 165-195F across the surface of the mat. The mat has ridges on the bottom creating air channels to help reduce heat transfer to the surface it is on. My black granite counter had a temp reading of 114F directly under the mat. That certainly isn't going to be problematic for a countertop. Still probably not great if you have an antique wood sideboard you want to serve a buffet on. One could add some thermal padding (like buying a cheap yoga mat and cutting to fit). I did some tests to see what temp could be expected in food in various scenarios. All of these I did by adding 165F water to the serving dish, letting temp stabilize and reading with instant read cooking thermometer. Uncovered ceramic bowl with ridge on bottom: This was a typical bowl where the only direct contact between the bowl and the surface it is on is the ridge that rings the bowls bottom. The stabilized temp was 110F. While this is nicely warm for eating temp, it is well below the 140F considered "safe" for extended buffet service. Covered ceramic dish with flat bottom (no ridge): The stabilized temp was 145F. Covered metal skillet with flat bottom: The stabilized temp was 148F. Would be nice if the highest temp were a bit closer to what is stated or at least more even across the surface. Definitely good for keeping food warm for shorter periods as other dishes finish cooking and for buffet service where you aren't expecting to keep things "food safe" for extended period. For longer periods, be careful to check food temps with a thermometer.
