This would have been a 5 star rating if the cabinet had been heavier built and the 230/115 volt conversion was a switch and relay rather than an RV cord adaptor but all in all it is a good value for the money and is a great starter unit

It is a good and useful tool. I have used it on multiple occasions with 7018 rods, and it gives a beautiful weld. To get the price down, the leads were severely compromised. They are barely adequate for the job. Count on upgrading them. They are too short, too thin, and the cable hardware really needs some 'beefing up'.

Unfortunately i was not able to use the tig for the lack of arrgon tag didnt happen as planned but as for the arc weldeing and the size and weight are very nice. Nice clean welds with very nice penetration with nice duty cycles i have not ran into any issues as of yet with the arc welding as for the size and weight wow im used to heavy unfriendly welders difficult to move and position but this is so light and small it fits anywhere its great.

This review is for the blue S7 HF TIG Welder - so far this little machine works really well for me and I have been using it for a month to weld the frame and fabricate parts for my bobber build. I dropped a star only for the ridiculous ground cable and zip-tied trigger. I included a picture of the first try out of the box (itโs been 15+ years since Lincoln Electric welding school...). This was done with the welder plugged into 240v, 85 amps, 15 CFH Argon, 1/16โ Tungsten and #5 cup (I didnโt test it in a 120v outlet). It is very simple, easy to use, HF start, BUT BUT BUT this is NOT a โbuy it and weldโ purchase...there is quite a bit of stuff I needed to obtain to get to that first weld bead... Hereโs a list of what I used, hope it helps the new welders out there. Argon cylinder โ I got a 40CF pure argon cylinder which at 10 to 15CFH is around 3 hours of arc time... plenty for my project. $180 Argon Regulator โ I had one laying around from my Lincoln days. Argon hose โ This confused me as there is a barb attachment on the back of the unit. I found that a standard propane hose worked great and was super inexpensive. A 5โ hose with 1/4โ male pipe thread x 3/8โ female flare was $16 โ I just cut off the flare fitting and put the cut hose on the barb fitting on the welder with a pipe clamp, other side with the 1/4โ male to the regulator with the following fittings. Flare Union: 3/8 in FL x 1/4 in MIP Brass Pipe Coupling: 1/4 in FIP 3/8โ-5/8โ hose clamp for the barb fitting (the propane hose is 1/2โ OD) Teflon Tape Tungsten - 1/16โ 1.5-2% Lanthanated. 1/16โ is the only size that fit into one of the two unmarked (metric?) collets that came with my welder. 1/16โ TIG Filler rod โ I used mild steel ER70S-6 (match the rod to the tungsten 1/16โ->1/16โ) Welding Helmet โ Definitely get a quality auto darkening helmet as TIG welding is super precise and visibility is key. Forget that old โcanโt see a darn thing without the arcโ stick helmet, TIG is a different animal. And of course - leather gloves, a grinder to sharpen tungsten, pieces of steel to weld together, a three prong 240v outlet and a ton of patience. Hope This Helps...
