I am impressed with the speed in which we received this item. it is a normal plug in Electric fence, but I appreciate the orange color. It reminds me to remember to be careful around it! It has worked quite well for us. Our cows had started jumping our fence, into our yard. They were ruining our metal chain link fence in short order. We have had an unusually wet spring and early summer, so it not that they have no grass, it's just that for some reason, our cows are certain that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. They did tremendous amounts of damage before we bought this. The price was right, and it has finally convinced our cattle to stay OUT of our yard. So many places selling electric fencing are going to solar, which is quite expensive. I appreciate AMAZON for keeping a supply of this type on hand for a reasonable price. I bought an extra, so we'd have one in case of emergency.

I plugged it in. The flashing light on the unit suggested it was working; I connected the ground and hot wires correctly, but the squirrels were not fazed by it. I viewed numerous videos to ensure I had run the ground and hot wires correctly, thinking that the electrifier could not be faulty because it was NEW. When I got around to checking the unit with a fence tester, it was not generating voltage either AT the unit or at the ground/hot wires. Unfortunately, I cannot return since it has been just over a month since I purchased it. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS ITEM.

Solved my squirrel problem! I had a problem with squirrels climbing onto the roof of my plastic Bird Feeder and was so tired of chasing them away. 3 of the same squirrel where relentless and constantly hanging over the roof of the bird feeder to get to the bird seed. PROBLEM SOLVED! I zip tied this to the bottom of my bird feeder, ran bare wires across the ROOF of the bird house that the squirrel hung over and attached it to the energizer , connected the power cord to a WILAWELS Wireless remote switch that I purchased here on AMAZON for $9.99 with a light in the window of the bird house to see if it is in the ON/OFF state before filling it, and after one shocking experience they all now stay away. No more constant chasing them away. This device does it 24/7 and I love this solution to what was a problem in my garden. Now they just hang out for scraps on the ground that fall when the birds use the feeder and I am OK with that.

The voltage of this unit didn't provide enough power to deter our deer who were obviously shocked, but kept coming back. Yes, I grounded it properly. I replaced it with an 8k - 12k unit that did get the job done.
