Is it American steel, no. It’s Chinese plastic, but it 100% does the job that it claims to do. It’s easy to use (literally get the spout in the drum, plug in the power supply and hit the switch. The price is a bit high, at $165, but if you go this route, you will not be disappointed. It does work well. It is quiet, continuous flow; I only gave it -1 star because I cannot figure out how the nozzle holder works. In all, though, it fully does everything it claims, but using materials that are 100% plastic.

Purpose for Product: We have multiple 55-gallon drums of fluids, diesel-DEF-antifreeze-etc. Each fluid has its own designated pump so the fluids don't get cross contaminated. New barrel requires a new pump. Product Inspection: Pumps major components are thermoformed plastic that appear well manufactured. Note that this is plastic and does not have the robustness that you may be accustomed to with steel. Product Performance: Attached hose and select power sourcing and you are ready. First problem: Instructions inform the user to NOT pump gasoline- they don't really expound on that admonition- guessing there is chance for an explosion, they just state not to use with any material not compatible with the pump construction. If you put this thing in a working environment of multiple workers, the odds are: If it can happen- It will happen - a rule to live by. If you are the sole user of the pump, it probably will be OK, but you know SOMEBODY is going to stick this pump in a can of gas, but that is their choice. We decided to use the pump for anti-freeze and cable lock the pump to the wall with a tag hanging off it stating for anti-freeze use only. Five gallons per minute is adequate for anti-freeze and this pump handles that easily with no problems reported. Telescoping piping functions easily. On/off switch works fine. Got lucky with the bung adapter. The duty cycle of 15 minutes on with 15 minutes off for recovery is bothersome. I will not need fifteen minutes to pump antifreeze but why a 15-minute limit- makes me think that the pump is prone to getting hot and obviously they know it. Summary: This pump is NOT made to haul around. You would have to build a rigid carrying case of some type. It requires TLC if used on a daily basis. I would not order another of these pumps for commercial or industrial exposure. Home use- YES. It appears that there are multiple sellers of this same exact pump with as many different price points which are much higher than my perceived value related to quality.

I can use it to transfer diesel and water to tractors and sprayers. The intake tube extends to reach the bottom, and the strainer plus anti-clog valve actually work – even with some gunk at the bottom, no jams. Good pressure control, and the handle locks so you don't have to hold it down. On dual power, just hook it to a 12V battery outside – the cord's about 13 feet, plenty of reach. Runs quiet too. Way easier than manual pumps. One heads-up: the manual says don't run it over 15 minutes straight, but that's fine for normal transfers. Overall, solid performance and portability for the price.
