I own the 1st CrowPi and love it. The built-in screen is smaller than I prefer, and I am 68. I got this CrowPi2 and love the larger screen. Elecrow made some great improvements with this one. The keyboard sits inside the case and removes to expose the hardware for the experiments. One of my favorite upgrades is that the 8X8 LED matrix uses RGB LED's instead of just red ones. You can program it to make some really awesome colorful displays. The basic version does not come with a RaspberryPi, but it does come with an SD card with everything you need already loaded on it. You just insert the card in your RaspberryPi and it is ready to go. I did find out that I had to remove the heatsinks I had put on my RaspberryPi so it can fit inside the CrowPi2 unit. There is a cooling fan in the CrowPi2, so there is no need for the heatsinks. The software makes it convenient to go through the lessons as you don't have to go online to download and view a PDF file on your computer like other systems require. Both the 1st CrowPi and the CrowPi2 are well designed and are high quality units. They make learning to program the RaspberryPi to be controlled by a joystick or buttons and control motors and read sensors easy to do. Most of the sensors and buttons are already wired and ready to use so you can jump right into learning to program the RaspberryPi. The lessons on the CrowPi2 are laid out in short paragraphs that you advance one by one as you learn. You advance to the next paragraph with a forward button. They explain the python code line by line and have you type them in the program area of the screen. They also allow you to copy and paste the code if you do not feel like typing them in yourself. Besides the lessons, there is a section with more experiments you can do. There is a lot more you can do with this, including learning to modify a Minecraft game or go on the internet with the built-in Chromium web browser. Overall, I think this is well worth the price making it convenient to learn and program a RaspberryPi.

This has been by far the most entertaining method of learning/practicing my programming. As well as introducing multiple mechanical mechanisms that can be programmed or worked with for different projects. I know the price tag may scare some people but I assure you it’s worth the money if you are serious about learning something it’s offering. Contains hours/days of content and then you can go off the books and use it to play around on your own.

The build quality is excellent, It feels like a quality computer and should stand up to reasonable use. Unfortunately, the sound and camera won't work with a standard Raspbian image. If you're just planning to use the educational software they provide, that works well enough but the machine isn't a great value for that. They also thoughtfully included a RetroPie image card - the one included wasn't compatible with the Pi4 I purchased preinstalled, but I reloaded the card but then found that RetroPie couldn't be configured. It could be useful as a portable Raspberry Pi. Without a battery it's not really a 'laptop' though. It promises to be way more useful than the previous CrowPi (which is a great piece of hardware) but this is just too expensive for the limited use. I'll be sending mine back to Amazon. --------- Update: After talking with customer service at Elecrow, I've heard that they are addressing the card image issue. They also responded in a user forum about the sound and camera question. I have to say its rare these days to get rapid, high quality customer service and I'm impressed at how committed Elecrow is to making customers happy.

This product is great for helping beginners learn about electronics and programming. The guided lessons are quick and informative. The buikt in keyboard and screen make the system easy to use. The biggest issue I have seen so far is the warnings in the instruction booklet being very easy to miss and given late in the assemblyprocess. You can not use both battery and outlet power at the same time. I ended up frying my battery pack. I have used other products from this company and ended up needing two power supplies to make them work. The rest of this kit has been excellent. It is great for anyone old enough that the small parts won't be a choking hazard.

I liked it, but the keyboard was broken. I tried to Contact the n manufacturer , but it was during the Chinese new year. So I did a return. The manufacturer contacted me and offered to replace the keyboard but it was too late. Amazon was great to pick up the return and will refund when they get the product back.

Even though there is NO Raspberry Pi with this kit and the current shortage of Pi’s it is like buying a car without a motor. I bought it not reading the whole ad and missed the no Pi statement. Luckily I have a Pi 4 already. Does it work with a Pi 3?

Currently , refurbished Dell 7390's sell for $220 with an Intel i5, 16gb ram and 256gb ssd. These are enterprise level laptops. I appreciate development platforms, and I understand the expense of raspberry pi boards right now, but how can this price be justified? I think this price would be perfectly reasonable with the highest, or nearly highest, components. It's basically a breadboard with a display and a hinge. A lot of people, including myself, would love to use this development platform.
