The replacement needed. Other than the graphics molded on top and the lugs for install and removing they are an exact match in every measurement that matters. Worked perfectly on my tanks and with the different lugs are easier to install and remove.

I just lost the original fuel cap to my 1993 Craftsman GT6000 the other day. Although, I expect to find it again while mowing or tooling around the garage, I decided to buy and use this one until I can hopefully recover the original. It fits alright, but has a shallower profile (fewer threads) and is less substantial than the original. The plastic is definitely thinner than the original and feels like it could be a bit hard and potentially brittle. I was happy to see that the pitch of the threads matches nicely, but the cap bottoms out after only slightly more than half of a turn. The cap does have a rubber seal and is vented. Any OEM caps I was able to find on line were in the neighborhood of $30 before tax and shipping. So, $9 and free 2-day shipping wins hands down. As much as I would like to stick with original parts, I would use a plastic bag and a rubber band before I'd spend $30 on a fuel cap. ... show more
