This ecoflow works fantasticly. Not to happy about the extra smart battery though it's not compatible with as many ecoflow unit's as the prior 2nd gens are. I probably wouldn't have purchased the newer gen 3 smart battery if I knew this in advance and would have probably just purchased another power queen battery with Bluetooth for less the price instead. Lesson learned.

Style: DELTA 3 Max Plus+Extra Battery
The media could not be loaded. Ah, the Delta 3 Max Plus! The long-awaited sequel to the Delta 2 Max, a sort of Goldilocks unit that has enough power to run any medium-duty appliance for a day and change, while still being small enough to port around. I have run my Delta 2 Max daily since I got it two years ago. Fantastic machine. When I had the opportunity to test out the Delta 3 Max Plus, I was very intrigued! It has almost the exact same dimensions and weight as the D2M. What new features have they added that would be worth upgrading for? The GOOD: -This unit is much more efficient and quiet than the Delta 2 Max. The fans only turn on when it is really cranking, and even then it isn't nearly as loud or run as hot. In a typical day, the D2M would run around 90-94 degrees F with incoming solar and a few hundred watts of outgoing AC. The D3M+ doesn't break a sweat until you start cracking a kW in either direction. It is consistently around 84-88 degrees F with the same load. -The brand-new "priority" switching allows you to turn on or off left and right side AC. This is a long-needed upgrade that unlocks a LOT of potential. Up to this point, I had been mimicking this by using smart plugs. It's still not perfect- each button controls 2 AC outlets, but that does open a lot of possibilities for interactivity. -The app and controls are part of the Delta 3 line, which include (long overdue) historic data. This lets you track input and output and see what your daily rates are. Want to run a fridge for a power outage? Plug it in to the D3M+ and run it for a day in pass-through mode. That will tell you exactly how much battery you'll need. -The smart extra battery is a much preferred sit-atop unit with a modern cord. This lets you swap the battery out (or even charge it) with the Ecoflow Smart Generator 4k or 3k. This is much more efficient (and quicker) than standard AC charging. -This price of just over $1k is a great value compared to what the D2M was upon launch (double that). It's still comparable or even less than what the D2M is selling for today! -This remains the perfect size and power to run almost any appliance for at least a short bit. I ran a microwave, coffee maker, even fully charged a smaller Delta 2 unit off of this. The Delta 2 and 3 are fine for their size, but for actual back-up and peace of mind, the Delta2Max and Delta 3 Max are ready for action. -This is compatible with the Delta 3 Pro Smart Extra Battery, which is 4kW of power. I tested it and this works. The BAD: -You actually get LESS outlets, LESS USB ports, and LESS DC output ports. This kinda blows my mind. -You can't (yet) expand this with more than one smart battery. This also blows my mind. Right now you can have 6kW in storage if you max out the two battery ports on the Delta 2 Max. They are planning on releasing a two-battery-hub, but that's a really wonky solution that isn't ready yet. The UGLY: -This is a great, very able machine. But it's got some flaws that need to be ironed out with firmware updates. Number one - I have used it as pass-through power for just over three months. It has decided to turn off the AC power five times in that span, and 3 of those were in the past 3 days. I have tested for variables, and there were no surges, storms, or outside reasons for this. I've uploaded my data to Ecoflow and haven't heard back for fixes. Essentially, it has been shutting off my fridge at random times, and I have to notice it to turn it back on (app or button). In my two years of running the Delta Pro 3, that has happened maybe twice. -The solar/car input isn't properly accepting input when limited to 6 amps. I have used car-to-XT60 connections to refill my batteries from other Delta devices overnight. The app lets you choose the draw, and setting it to 6 amps for Delta 2 or Delta 2Max (or DP3) lets the device take in the max that a cigarette port will allow. This limits you to 4 amps at the moment, but I have confidence that will be rectified in a future update. Let me be clear: This is a fantastic machine. It will do the job you're hoping it will do. Once they iron out the pass-through AC, it will go back in daily rotation for me. I say that with confidence, because it's happened with other Ecoflow devices. If you're worried about the above, only ONE of the times it has turned off was when battery level was left at 80%. The others were at 100%. I plug my Govee water leak detector hub into one of the AC ports and it sends me an alert if AC power goes out. That's my current peace of mind, but I'd like to see Ecoflow offer a similar push notification option.
