If your house is anything like mine, you have a constant mountain of delivery boxes waiting for the recycling bin🤣. This Boxineers kit is a a fun way to give those boxes a "second life" & doubles as a fun activity for the kids. What’s in the Box? The kit comes with a variety of plastic connectors and colorful punch-out pieces (ears, tails, paws, etc.) to transform cardboard boxes into animals. The set I used featured a dog, a unicorn, a cat, and even a monster-type creature. The Experience: • Ease of Use: The "punch" tool included is sturdy and makes it easy for kids to poke holes in the cardboard without needing scissors or a box cutter (though younger kids will still need a little supervision to get the holes aligned) • The Connectors: The blue plastic screws/rivets hold surprisingly well. They are easy to twist in and actually keep the "limbs" attached securely. • Creative Freedom: While the box shows specific animals, kids can mix and match….here comes the next Salvador Dali😉 Pro-Tips: 1. Box Size Matters: The stickers and pieces are scaled for medium-sized boxes (like a standard shoe box or a small shipping box). Larger boxes may make the features look a bit tiny. 2. Save Your Boxes: Just a reminder—the cardboard boxes are NOT included. You supply the "body" of the animal. Well, I guess the box it’s shipped in is, haha Final Verdict: This is a fantastic craft. THAT DOESNT NEED SCREENS. Kids can play with it on the deck or in the yard. It encourages engineering skills and spatial awareness while being genuinely fun. It’s a great gift for any kid who loves "tinkering or just being Carrie ." Plus, when they’re done playing with the animal, you can just unscrew the plastic parts to reuse later and finally recycle the cardboard! This Boxineers Cardboard Animals Craft Kit by Educational Insights caught my eye as a creative activity for my grandkids—and it did not disappoint. The animals are adorable, and the variety of pieces really lets imaginations run wild. Assembly involves poking holes and using a screwdriver, which the kids especially loved. The suggested age is 5+, which feels about right. Adult help was needed to get started, and younger kids especially needed assistance poking holes. I hesitated at the $24.99 price, but it turned out to be well worth it. The pieces are large, colorful, and sturdy enough to hold up to repeated use. The included plastic awl is rounded for safety; we found it helpful to start holes with an ink pen, then widen them with the awl. The chunky screwdriver and included bolts make it easy to attach pieces, and the straps and elbows allow for connecting multiple boxes. A few nuts for securing freestanding pieces would have been a nice addition. The included activity sheet offers helpful ideas to get started, but the real fun begins when kids start creating their own designs. This is definitely an activity we’ll return to again and again. One note: while the listing states that boxes are not included, I underestimated how many we’d need. Be sure to gather plenty ahead of time. For a cleaner look, I turned boxes inside out and re-taped them. Overall, this is a fun, open-ended craft with lots of replay value—I liked it enough to buy the vehicle set as well. ... show more

I love having an assortment of fun crafts to do with my grandchildren, and this set has been a wonderful addition to our creative time together. It is a great activity for helping develop fine motor skills while keeping them engaged and excited. My grandchildren absolutely love it and have had so much fun creating and decorating different cardboard projects. There is a great assortment of pieces to build and design, and the materials are colorful and very well made. My grandson especially enjoys using the kid friendly tools included in the set. He loves being able to use the screwdriver to attach the screws to the cardboard, which makes it feel like a real building activity for him. I also really appreciate that it comes with clear instructions and ideas. It helped spark their imagination, and I have been amazed at all the creative things they have come up with. It is a good thing we have plenty of boxes, because they are always eager to make something new! The quality of the pieces is outstanding. They are sturdy, durable, and designed to be used again and again. Overall, this is a fantastic way to encourage creativity, hands on learning, and fine motor skill development.
