    • Assembly went smoothly and the Unit looks good
I did my research before buying and this unit lived up to my expectations. I am 60 and my 78 year old mother helped me put it together. We just took our time and were very careful to follow all instructions. Print on instructions was very small, so needed magnifier. Book case seems very sturdy with the bottom shelfs being fixed in place. The hardware used to assemble the book case adds to the stability. Since we have no plans to move the top two shelves, I used some of the nails to attach the back to the movable shelves. That eliminated the back bowing on the shelves. This is in the room of a disabled person. I used the hardware to attach to a wall, but I am not real confident in the wall attachment. I will probably come back later and attach to a stud in the wall. Over all great experience and it made the person it was for very happy. ... show more

The book shelf was fairly simple to put together. Instructions were mostly illustrative. Total time for one person to assemble was about an hour and a half. I purchased the walnut veneer, but the actual color is MUCH darker than the online picture. My wife wasn’t at all happy about that. I thought the price was a little steep, but I went with the extra height and more modern looking construction than most other DIY bookshelves. ... show more

After fighting with a Sauder bookcase that has two piece sides, I needed another bookcase with one piece sides and this one fit the bill. It was easy on my wallet, went together easily and fast, is sturdy and looks great. I am very happy with this bookcase and will buy more products from Edenbrook.

Damn thing fell apart....literally...the "wood" turns to dust when you take a philips-head screwdriver to the hardware as they ask you to . Whoever wrote the instructions needs to go back to middle school. Dowel pins were missing, didn't get to the other hardware after the first few pieces came apart Won't be returning it as it's not worth my time ... show more

Here's the thing- they're asking a good chunk of money (I paid 200/ea {on sale!} with tax) for what is a glorified cheapie bookshelf because it has a "trim" finish. But I wanted it {sigh} and when it went on sale, I bit the bullet and ordered two. They were delivered with care and seemingly packed well, yet there were numerous surface scratches, small nicks and chips, and manufacturing issues that caused additional damage during assembly. The latter being that the dowels were clearly too long for the combined depth of the holes they go into because when I tightened the cam screws, it forced the dowel through the finished surface, creating cracks and bulges on the outside sides of the boomshelf (ie the part everyone sees when they walk by). I noticed the damage after the first occurance and so I was sure to hammer the other dowels extra hard to be sure they were fully embedded yet still the same happened with the remaining dowels/cams. This happened particularly with the three lower shelves, which btw, obviously, are fixed in place. Only top two shelves are adjustable). I considered returning it as defective but we all know large items are a full PITA to return so I pressed on with nailing the backerboard... flipped it up only to see that the side edges of the backerboard are not dyed so there is a visible cardboard colored edge running down the rear edges of my black bookcase, then discovered the same issue with the center seam. It looks cheap and I'm really upset I paid so much when I could have / should have / would have ordered the cheappo sixty bucks version or spent a little extra money on a quality one. I didn't build the second one yet, but I wouldn't recommend this particular item. If you're on a budget, just get yourself the straightforward basic bookshelf. If you want something "nice," keep looking. Pro's- it is a true black ... show more

    • Good bookcase
It's hard to find good quality, larger bookcases anymore....I know, I've looked. Although this bookcase isn't as solid as the ones I used to have.... it's the best I have found for the price. I like the larger and deeper shelves, compared to others i found. If you're looking for non-expensive but does the job than I'd say this bookcase fits that description. ... show more

Absolutely perfect for what I needed. It is practical, easy to assemble (It took less than an hour to put together), and very sturdy. It filled the small space I had and will provide the extra storage that I desperatly needed. Great quality for the price!
