We have 4 of these all of them completely full with books so they can hold a lot. The assembly was easy (if you can't do it don't know what to tell you, its just a bookcase its not rocket science). I used L brackets to attach them to the walls, again super easy.

They look quite nice and would be nice enough to put in your living room if they didn't have the "kids" logo branded into the wood right in front. I'm 73, female, and and pretty handy if a bit slow. It took me about 3 hours to assemble these by myself. They say two people should do it, but if you study the diagrams VERY carefully, you'll be fine by yourself. Theres no text. If, like many, you have a hard time understanding two-dimensional diagrams of three-dimensional objects, do get some help. They supply a little Allen wrench, but do yourself a favor and buy a big Allen wrench with a solid handle. You will not enjoy assembling it with the little wrench. The critical issue on a product you assenble yourself is whether all the parts are present and all holes were correctly drilled at the factory. My shelves were perfect on both counts. ... show more

I love these shelves. We have two and they are sturdy and are great book/game/craft shelves. These shelves in particular are a little tricky to put together. At first they seem easy, but when you get to the second side the pre-drilled holes don't line up quite right. At least they didn't for either of ours but one was easier than the other. I followed the instructions and one of the panels was labeled wrong so I had to take it apart and start almost from the beginning. I'm pretty handy, I remodeled my bathroom myself and put flooring down in my house, and had a hard time assembling this. There are gaps at the back of the bookcase.
