  • Smart, Usable Design
Item Package Quantity: 1 Size: Regular
This is a fantastic little lunchbox. I had been looking for something without any plastic which also had multiple compartments, and after looking at some other options I decided to go with this one. I'm glad I did. The design is impeccable. The lid can be flipped upside down and used as a base for the upper level, leaving no mess on the tabletop. The top level is designed in such a way that, when set in the overturned lid, it doesn't actually touch the inside of the lid, so if either the inside of the lid or the bottom of the upper section is dirty, the other one won't get messy. This isn't hugely important, but it does make the whole process of having multiple compartments very easy to work with. All of the space in this box is highly usable. The build quality is difficult to describe. On the one hand, my model looks obviously warped when looked at from particular angles, and when pieces are put together, they fit snugly, if not flushly. However, everything does indeed fit together as tightly as needed (it also helps to get away from the expectation of the kind of tight-fitting seal that only plastic lids can create), although I find that the clasps snap a little tighter if I put the top part on one way instead of another. The metal is smartly chosen: a little thinner in the main sections and thicker in the lids, which would otherwise be easier to bend. As it is, the lids are quite sturdy, and the larger pieces don't seem likely to deform any time soon. I was also extremely pleased to note two details: 1) There are no seams where food could get stuck (the corners are just a little rounded on the insides), and 2) there are no sharp edges. The edges, in fact, are just a little thicker than the walls--this adds a bit more stability and prevents any possibility of injury. You will find only stainless steel throughout the entire construction: even the little rollers on the clasps are steel! As to the size: it ended up being both smaller than I expected and larger than I need; since the entire volume can be filled with (non-liquid) food, it's possible to pack quite a bit. Unless you buy smaller-sized bread, you'd be hard-pressed to cram a sandwich into this thing. However, I have found it's given me a good excuse to get away from the sandwich and explore other horizons. Leftovers are great in this lunchbox--food can simply be spooned into the compartments, and if more divisions are needed, lettuce and kale are wonderful as edible barriers. Of course, the steel construction precludes the use of a microwave, so don't expect a hot lunch. I have also been delighted to find that this box is very, very easy to clean. The polished surface can be blinding in bright light and does show a lot of fingerprints, but I also think it causes the food not to stick so easily; I have had no difficulty hand-washing this lunchbox even after leaving it open on the counter overnight. ... show more

  • Terrific reusable lunch box that doesn't use plastic - great for adult lunches, too
Item Package Quantity: 1 Size: Regular
May 18, 2025 UPDATE: This container is still going strong after nearly 10 years of regular use. April 15, 2023 UPDATE: It has been almost eight years, and I’m still using this bento box nearly every day. Sure, I’ve strayed from time to time, trying glass containers or whatever else caught my eye, but I always return to this container. It’s lightweight, compact, durable, and not plastic. It has never had a rust problem, and the clasps are still going strong. I expect to get many more years of use from my EcoLunchbox. (Original review starts here) I have used this excellent little lunch box regularly - but not exclusively - for two years and It is just about ideal for packing a variety of food into a small space. I'm an adult female and this container packs an ample amount for my office lunch and can usually fit a small snack, too. Pros: * Durable stainless steel is easy to clean. More often than I'd like to admit, I will come home on Friday and forget to unpack and wash my ECOlunchbox until getting ready for work on Sunday night. It doesn't stain and I've never had any problems with rust. * Great for eliminating plastic waste from packed lunches. * Great for portion control. * Keeps my food from getting smashed in my tote bag. * It's not heavy or prone to breakage as is the case with glass containers. * No, it can't be heated in the microwave because it is steel. Frankly, my office's communal microwave ovens are so gross, I avoid using them at all costs. When I want a hot lunch, I pack a leakproof insulated container or use a Crockpot lunch warmer. * No, it's not leakproof, but that's easily managed by packing it so that it doesn't tip over and by putting salad dressing or other wet items in separate leak proof containers. * I managed to misplace my pod (small inner container), but used to use it a lot for packing separate snacks. It is handy when packing something dry like crackers that you want to keep crisp even though the bigger container holds something wet like hummus. I may buy a replacement since they are available separately. * My one complaint is that the cost of the ECOlunchbox has increased by $10 since I purchased one exactly two years ago. There are more products in this category now, including what look like some really good quality knock offs, so I hope that the makers of ECOlunchbox will reconsider their pricing strategy. ... show more

  • Durable, perfect size for kid's lunch or smaller adult lunch
Item Package Quantity: 1 Size: Regular
This little box is wonderful, just the right size for my 7 year old. Seems very durable. I like that it is rectangular instead of round because it just seems more space-efficient that our round tiffin. It seems kinda small when you first see it, but I have found it to be perfect for my kid and even big enough for most of my lunches so long as I pack a snack or two as well (which I usually do). My only minor complaints are that the little mini box will only fit in the top. Seems trivial, but it has been a minor annoyance as I like to put "messier" foods, like chicken salad, lasagna, pot roast, or something with a thick dressing/liquid, in the top, because if you put food like that in the bottom it will get dressing/liquid/sauce/etc on the bottom of the top container (since the top container is the "lid" to the bottom, which makes for a mess on the table when you take it apart. You can rest it in the top lid to prevent making a mess on the table, but my 7 year old might forget that at times; and also resting it in the lid means the dressing is now there too (and my daughter has snack time and lunch time so that is not always feasible to have dressing on the top lid that then gets the dressing/liquid on a different food). OR sometimes I just want to put something that takes up the whole space on top because the top is slightly taller, and I can't because that is the only place the mini container goes. Anyhoo- it is MINOR, I admit, after going on and on and on. But I wish the design was fully interchangeable because when I send my daughter with food that must go in the top, the mini container has to go on its own. And the lid to the mini container isn't so tight as to prevent it from coming off unless it is really snug in her lunch box. So on that note, I also wish the mini container snapped together tighter so it could be used on its own, or for thicker liquids like yogurt. I just put a rubber band around it to use on its own if I want to put two larger things in the other containers. No biggie. It is expensive, but hopefully it will last a long, long time. ... show more

  • Pretty Air-tight, Compact and Handy
Item Package Quantity: 1 Size: Regular
I bought this lunch box to save money as a college student about 6 or 7 months ago. AESTHETICS - Visually, the box is appealing and aesthetic. It's stayed fairly shiny and new-looking aside from scratches you can barely even see up close that I caused with the scruffy side of the sponge. It's size is nice to carry if you don't wan't to lugg anything around. AIR TIGHT - Now I'm getting to my real point. At some point in time I packed a lunch but didn't eat it for some reason. And I started buying lunch on campus again, so naturally I just never got around to dumping the old food and washing it. I LET IT SIT FOR 6 MONTHS, being scared I would open it and disgust myself with whatever had rotten in there. Today I decided maybe it was time to clean it. In a dorm notorious for ant problems, this box hadn't collected ants aside from two which were crawling on the side, but were not coming in or out of the box, which I'm assuming means they cant get in or out. Yay! I opened the bottom portion of the container, held to the top with the clips, and the sandwich looked perfectly in tact. Aside from it being hard (the peanut butter had dried), the sandwich had no visible mold, nor did the container. Those clips actually do wonders. The top portion I opened however and had some mold. With the 6 months I had left it out for in mind, the mold was nothing though. I was able to clean it out and looks great again. Definitely not as fantastic as the bottom container which is clipped tight, but still amazing to me. PORTION - That being said, I wouldn't recommend this box to anyone with too big of an appetite. The box was perfect for me. I typically fit an average sandwich in the larger bottom compartment and a bag of chips + some fruit in the top, though I didn't find much use for the smallest container. It's perfect for a child or someone who really doesn't eat much comparatively speaking. ... show more

  • It's OK, could use some improvements.
Item Package Quantity: 1 Size: Regular
Not a bad lunchbox. It's a really nice size and not too heavy, but the build quality isn't perfect. The side latches catch on things, the rails that hold the latches bend so that the tightness of the top lid varies, and sometimes the top lid pushes down too far on one corner so that the lid doesn't go on properly. All minor quibbles, I know, but worth knowing about. The smallest container is pretty useless. I guess it was for condiments, but the fit of the lid isn't great, so I really don't know why that was included. Three quick notes: It's not water-tight so your wet foods (salads, etc.) will leak if the box goes on its side in transport. The box isn't square so not all bread will fit in there the way it seems in the picture. It's dishwasher safe and has no nooks that need to be manually cleaned, which is a huge bonus for me. With some tweaks this could be a really good product but as it is now I'd say 3/5. ... show more

  • Exactly What I Wanted
Item Package Quantity: 1 Size: Regular
I am more than pleased with this lunchbox. I love the fact that it is made from stainless steel with no plastic. While the product description labels it as ideal for children's lunches, I actually bought it for myself, and have found that it allows the perfect amount of space for my lunches or light dinners when I'm on the go. I would recommend against putting anything too liquidy in it, as it is not completely leak-proof, though thicker things (like hummus or yogurt) seem pretty safe so far. The compact, stackable design makes this lunchbox perfect for backpacks or large purses, and it's easy to wash--I love the rounded corners! I read some of the other reviews that describe the latches as being insecure or loose, but I haven't found that to be the case with mine: everything fits snuggly together. I would recommend this to anyone wishing to cut down on their plastic tupperware use, use less plastic bags, have better portion control, or to anyone who is on the go often, doesn't want to eat out, and doesn't want to carry one million containers around with them (like myself). Hooray! definitely worth the cost! ... show more

  • Eco friendly and stylish
Item Package Quantity: 1 Size: Regular
These Eco Lunch boxes are great. They are the perfect size for a sandwich, chips, and another small side like potato salad or a candy bar. Others have said you cannot get an "adult sized" sandwich in this tin, but if you cut it diagonally, and slide the triangles apart a bit you can get your sandwich to fit. Of course it wont fit any "Dagwood" sandwiches since there is a top compartment/lid, but normal sized sandwiches will still fit, and a little "squishing" might occur if you build a thicker sandwich. Of course other food items will work just as well, theres no limit to your imagination! They stack nice and compact so they are easy to carry and place in the fridge at school or work. Best of all they are Eco friendly, no more using plastic containers or paper bags for everything. They are really easy to wash and keep clean. The only downside is that they are not microwaveable of course, so they are best suited for cold lunches. It would also be a good idea to wrap any sandwiches in a zip lock type of bag if making them in advance or for a long trip so that the bread doest dry out or become stale. This is of course less eco friendly, but your still reducing the amount of packaging/bags so its still good. The material is really thin and light, but super shiney and well constructed in my case. No real problems with the fit of the pieces, but because its thin, it does seem possible to bend a piece out of shape. ... show more

  • Not Rust Proof, Leaks, Bad Design
Item Package Quantity: 1 Size: Regular
I originally like the idea of stainless steel lunch box thinking that it maybe a better option than the plastic ones, but after 3 weeks of use I've notice too many flaws to make me reconsider my opinion of this lunch box. First issue I have is that this box is made of 201 and NOT 18/8 stainless steel. 201 are not as rust proof as 18/8 and will rust over time, yikes! After 3 weeks of use, I can already see a little rust spots near the hinges of the lunch box. Second issue I have is that you can't keep anything mist in here. It will leak even if the latch doesn't pop open accidentally (which happens way too often). They did address this issue in the description so this is not a complete surprise. Third issue (this is a major one) is that when you apply any pressure at the corners of the box, the latch flies out! Forget putting this in a book bag or with anything else besides a dedicated lunch bag. The box collapse into itself with any pressure at the corner which results in the lid falling apart and all the content inside gets dumped out! Major design flaw! I cannot recommend this lunch box with its current design. ... show more
