I ordered and received two air filters. Both were without any boxing material. I looked up the micro printed numberings on the filter, and found that they were a WIX air filter part number. Having a Mazda MX5 NC1(06’-to-08’) there seems to be issues with “some” filters not fitting well compared to the Mazda NC2 vehicles. Be aware of this when purchasing. The real Ecogard filter does fit the NC1 without issue. I will buy them from my local auto parts store from now on.

Despite what Amazon states, if you own a NC Miata, this will not fit. Reason: though the dimension is the same, the side rim (see pic; top is the replacement, bottom is the OEM) of the replacement filter is noticeably thicker, so much so that one cannot close the air filter lit clamps; due to the bulge.

I've purchased 2 of these every year for about 3 years now. (One for me and one for girlfriend). With folks sayin this doesn't fit - pay close attention to the corner tabs against the intake unit. This is an intentional design that also exists on the OEM unit to ensure it is mounted in the correct orientation. Yes - OEM is always better - but unless you're going with K&N or some sort of "real" intake upgrade - I recommend getting one of these and then switching your filter twice as more frequently (because its roughly half the cost of OEM). These are maintenance components. Doing "something" is always going to be better than nothing.

This filter does not have markings to show which way it fits into the air box, but I don't know if it really matters. For the price this filter is fine.
