  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Well built cat house
Style: Traditional
My daughter and I easily put the house together, after first lining it with insulation, since the main purpose is to keep the outside neighborhood cats warm in winter. I like the fact that it has an escape door, even though it lets in more cold air, the plastic may help a bit keeping the wind out. Insulating it is a bit tricky, and takes some precise measuring so that there are not gaps, but once done, it went together beautifully and is tight and secure. Now, we will see if the cats will use it. It is big enough for two cats, and can accommodate an outside heating pad. It is also attractive and looks nice on my patio, unlike the handmade shelters I have provided in the past. Placement is important, as wind driven rain will get inside, and I have also decided to place it on a small pallet, so that rain does not splatter as easily into the door from the cement. The plastic over the door is in two pieces, and may not last long, but there are other solutions, so that is a small problem. So, far, after much research, this is the best shelter I have found for the money. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Fine with upgrades
Style: Traditional
I have painted the house and screwed sofa legs under. I added insulation on every wall and top. It was easier to block a small door and to close the top of the house for better insulation. I added a line of foam tape before closing the top for better insulation. And the house was done. Adds-on were not expansive at Home Depot. Finally, Ive ordered on Amazon a self- warming bed (Furhaven) and put it inside (did want to buy straws and apparently the bed keep the cats warm without electricity) Cons : to make it work if you want a house for stray or feral cats when it is cold outside, you need to upgrade it . even so, I am not sure if it’s still warm enough and I am lucky to have a covered balcony to put the house. One of my feral use it so I am overall satisfied ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Second purchase of this same ecoflex cat shelter
Style: Traditional
The first one we purchased was good , all parts and everything fit . The second one purchased is missing screws and the top part has no holes for the screws that were missing and does not fit properly . We had already installed the insulation before we noticed the missing parts and defective issue of the roof , so we cannot return/replace ! Check eveything before you assemble . It is not hard to assemble , with insulation it does a ok job for outside cats in winter as long as it is put under or in a area that will protect it better from the elements . It does need to be insulated for winter or it will be freezing cold inside . We liked the first one so much we bought the second one only to be a bit disappointed with the parts missing and the roof issue . We had to tape the roof on . ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Made it through the Stormy 2022&2023 Rainy Season comforting the cats
Style: Traditional
I have several small cubby hole dwellings and this more sturdy one for my Feral cats (2). The weather was so bad in Bay Area, I brought the younger female into the garage, but the seasoned male who seems to roam between locations and dwellings, chose this house to protect him during the worse of the weather when it was extremely windy and rainy. I had straw for insulation and he pushed it into a way that protected him and weathered out every storm, and there were many. I was very impressed and now I want to purchase an upper level. However, this house was very difficult to assemble. I got the roof on backwards, but it still kept everything dry. I use the roof to store supplies for the kitties. So, I want another type for an upper level / 2nd story. Still looking. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Works in south Florida unless wind + rain
Style: Traditional
I liked the space and that it’s off the ground. Had to cut the vinyl on both doors or cats wouldn’t go in. My only complaint is that the manufacturer doesn’t sell replacement doors or at least list the material (mil). I bought 2 and have towels inside that I regularly wash and change.

Well, this is simply adorable. It is lightweight and easy to move around. It takes about a half an hour to assemble, depending on how assembly savvy you are. I’m not assembly savvy. But I was able to figure it out by looking at the pictures and reading the instructions. They provided plenty of screws with one extra screwing tool, one extra shorter screw, and one extra longer screw. When you’re applying the plastic “windows” the plastic screws can be simply pushed in. Just push them in. If you don’t want to apply the plastic drop down windows, that is, of course, optional. When you are assembling your little house and you’re putting up the walls you have four short screws. They are to be applied to the bottom of the walls near the floor. The four longer screws will be used to secure the roof to the top of the walls. I thought I had been shorted screws because I was putting up a wall using two small screws at the top and bottom. And I thought I’m not gonna have enough screws. But then I realized I wasn’t supposed to secure the wall at the top and the bottom. Only at the bottom with the shorter screws. The screwing tool works very well and gets the screws nice and tight. I don’t have an appropriate outdoor area for the house, but as you can see, I used some gardening pathway blocks to set my house on between two trees. I think it looks very inviting. As you can see in my picture, I also purchased the smaller self-heating pet mat. It fits perfectly long ways inside the house leaving a few inches to slide up against the back wall, providing a nice snuggly spot for your outdoor cat to rest against on those cold nights. This house is for my outdoor cat that simply will not come in. She’s still having to get used to the little house. Hopefully she will use it. Her choice. I know that I have provided her a very nice safe, dry/warm place to be. ... show more
