  • Good for smaller holes, beware of larger
Style: 63cc+ 6"10"12"+Ext
The auger works great with the 6” auger but with the larger augers be careful of it catching and twisting your hands and arm. If you are using in sandy or soft soil- no issues BUT I have rocks everywhere in western NC. If it hits any rock it will twist the top and it you are holding tight it will hurt! Trust me. Also the on/off switch doesn’t always work so I use the choke to turn it off at times. The pull start is not like your weed eater!!! Half slow pull then pull it!!!! Starts easy and dependable after a week of heavy use. ... show more

  • Great so far
Arrived sooner than expected. It came in 2 separate shipments and arrived on different days but both came before estimated arrival date. I used the fuel mixing bottle to mix up some fuel at 20:1. The engine fired up right away after I figured the choke out. One thing I"m not crazy about is the on/off switch is a momentary switch but it is impossible to discern if it is in the on or off position at any given time. Not a deal breaker though, the switch just kills the parks plug so if you feel the motor kick when you are pulling the cord then its on. I probably wont even replace the switch even though ti would be extremely cheap and easy to do. I did a test dig on an extremely rocky area and it worked quite well, very strong motor! This area was too rocky to dig a hole without a second person clearing it due to the rocks but it had so much power I know it could have been done if I have another set of hands with a narrow shovel and a water hose to keep the dirt moist enough to be soft. It was breaking up some large rocks during the test dig. I'll be using this to put in around 300 feet of split rail fence and to dig some holes for some plants. I'm looking forward to doing the work now because this thing is so fun to use. the 6 inch will be used on the fence and the 10 inch will be used for the larger plants I'm putting in. I'l probably replace the spark plug with something nicer even though its probably not necessary. I will update this review if I have any issues but I don't forsee any at this point. Update: I've used the unit for about 10 holes now so I'm updating my review. I was wrong about the switch. It's always on and needs to be held down to kill the engine. This makes things simpler than what I originally though. The switch does feel cheap and if I ever have a hard time getting the unit started it will be the first thing I check, it just seems like it will fail. The unit itself is very powerful, maybe too powerful. When digging I hit some rocks which stopped the auger bit and torqued the unit pretty hard our of my hands a number of times. I was lucky I didn't get hurt. It's also rather heavy and with a 10 inch bit, pulling the auger out of the ground is a 2 man job. I ended up marking the 40 remaining holes out and hiring a guy with a tractor. My back thanked me for it. The auger will still come in useful for digging a few holes for trees and other things like that but not for the size project I had lined up. If I was to do it again I would get a smaller unit so it would be lighter and more manageable for a single person to use. ... show more

  • Get yourself one!!

UPDATE 8/16/22: This bad boy was built to work! Still happy with my purchase all this time later and just finished 8 more 36" deep holes after months in storage. 6 out of 5 stars 🌟 This machine is just does a great job. I purchased it partially expecting it to fall apart or seize the little motor. Boy was this thing worth the money!! Set 26 holes 12in x 30 inch deep with a second person in less than 2 hours, in Colorado clay!!! The 25:1 fuel ratio was hard to get around until I had the help of thinking to add a 50:1 mix for a gallon to a 2 gallon jerry can. Motor took a few pulls to start first time running it, was responsive to the finger throttle. Kill switch was convenient and placed well. Drill came fully assembled at a separate time than the auger for a heads up. The auger box looked like it was sent through a war zone prior to coming to CO, however no damage at all was done to auger. Speaking of the auger, it looked super lightweight and I was sure it was going to tear itself apart before using the first time, I WAS WRONG, VERY WRONG. Auger is almost unscathed after the gauntlet I ran it through. I doubt that anyone would be disappointed with this machine, however DO NOT RUN THE 12 INCH AUGER WITHOUT HELP, YOU WILL REGRET IT. The 12 inch auger has enough surface area to toss a person or clip an unwatched foot. Great buy, now I need some smaller augers!! ... show more

  • Good Machine for Small Augers
Style: 63cc+ 4"6"8"12"+Ext
Bought this machine since it came the 4 different auger sizes. Also had the 63cc power unit which I thought would be helpful digging in the hard clay I have. Setup was pretty basic and unit fired right up. Note to those who don't read instructions, you must fill the gearbox with gear oil before use. I used the smaller augers first to get a feel for the unit. It dug down with no problem with hardly any power used. The larger augers worked just fine but if you hit any kind of hard soil, be prepared for the machine to twist very hard. It would have been a 5 star machine except the size of the handles is too small to easily have two people hold. You basically end up bumping heads while trying to hold the unit in place Also the fill hole for the gear oil is very small, about 1/4". I would recommend using a large syringe or something similar as the gear oil wants to just sit in the fill hole due to its viscosity. Summary: Cheaper than renting a machine and more than powerful enough, just don't expect to dig any giant sized holes easily. ... show more
