  • Blackout Curtains that WORK
Color: Light Purple Size: 42"W x 95"L (Pack of 1) Style: Rod Pocket
I have been looking for the Eclipse Blackout curtains in the light purple color for a while. I specifically needed the 95 inch length to complete the color scheme in my daughter’s room. Amazon was the only place I was able to find them. The Eclipse Blackout curtains really blocks out sunlight from the outside. I have attached pictures so that you can see what the room looks like with the curtains opened and closed during the day. When removing them from the packaging, they do have a lot of folds and creases in them. I ironed each curtain because I wanted them to have a crisp appearance. The curtains were easy to install. I appreciate that they don’t get caught on the curtain rod when taking them on and off. I have not washed them yet so I can’t provide feedback on how well they hold up after washing at the moment. The light purple color is very beautiful and the curtains have a smooth yet sturdy feel to them. The curtains aren’t heavy when you hang them individually, but I do have a total of six curtains up which has a decent weight to them overall. It’s not too heavy or light. I’m satisfied and would recommend these curtains to anyone looking for quality and functionality. ... show more

  • I would call these "curtain"kits" as they need some TLC and DIY upon arrival… Cheap tho!
Color: Ruby Size: 42"W x 54"L (Pack of 1) Style: Rod Pocket
Ruby 42" W x 54" H model. TL;DR: Good potential, nice quality. but requires extensive manual de-creasing/de-wrinkling, and weighing-down, to get a truly desirable result. Otherwise, sloppy curtain city. Basically these are 70% of the way there, and you need to put in the last 30%. Almost like a curtain "kit." If you put in the effort, they turn out nicely. --- Good for the money, nice texture that looks posh in the right light, and great blackout properties — I only tested them on a north-facing window. However, also EXTREMELY wrinkly, creased really, from the packaging. As a result, they look unacceptably bad if you just put 'em up. The wrinkle/crease issue comes down to the packaging of course, but also the specific type of fabric (I wouldn't say plastic-ish as other reviewers have, but definitely not flowy, sort of like a light upholstery), further compounded by the fact that while the curtains are two-layered (white liner, red curtain) they are not nearly heavy enough to weigh themselves down, lay flat, pleat neatly, and de-wrinkle on their own (at least the 54" height models). You can actually see this in the photos in other reviews — all those curtains with the edges laying at angles, creases running both vertically and horizontally… quite disheveled-looking. So, you have to put more effort and resources into these to get a decent result. First, you'll need to steam or iron them. Actually, if you don't own a steamer specifically, I wouldn't recommend these curtains. I've steamed them extensively, twice, and they have smoothed-out well but they're still not perfect. The final creases seem like they'll require an iron, but I'm not sure I would do that because the liner feels fragile and I would be worried about it melting at the heat levels that would actually relax the creases — the liner has a foamy feel to its obviously synthetic material and the tag says "warm" iron — these would need "hot." Another option would be to wash them and put them under tension while drying, but I don't want to wash them because I am quite sure the red dye would bleed and turn the white liners pink. So, you need a steamer. Second, you'll want to weigh them down. Conveniently, there are identical pockets sewn at top and bottom 👍. I am using the bottom pocket as a weight holder, using steelies (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DDBBQQTR?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title). I simply put them into the bottom pocket, sewed the pocket shut, and spread the steelies out inside. These steelies are 1/4" stainless, and once you have 250 of them in each curtain (for a 42" width curtain, 100 is too few, 250 is about one-layer all the way across), the curtain lays down a lot better, turning an unwieldy, awkward, and sloppy sheet of fabric into something… much better. So, while the panels cost like $26 (2 @ $13 each, late 2025), they required another $12 in steelies, an hour in steaming (so far) and then another half hour to do the sewing on the bottom pockets. At that point you have a much nicer set of high-performing blackout curtains, probably competing with others at a higher price point, although not quite as nice as if the weights were sewn in and the fabric were completely free of packing creases. It cost you an hour and a half, and about $40 total. For the money, I think that's probably a good deal 🤷♂️ GOOD • Price • Color • Texture • Blackout is great (ruby color, tested on north-facing window) • Pockets on both top and bottom are convenient for necessary DIY • With effort, result seems to punch above its weight price-wise NOT GREAT • Wrinkly as all get out • Ugly, disheveled look unless you put in the labor (and have a steamer — look at the photos in the reviews!) • Difficult to get wrinkles out even with a steamer on high (yes, difficult enough to warrant its own bullet!) • 54" model does not lay nicely on its own — it needs to be weighted • Sloppy thread tie-off for the pocket sew line… nbd, just fyi ... show more
