  • Love!
Color: Charcoal Configuration: with Adjustable Stand
Great product! Absolutely love the echo show 8! It's very user friendly! Easy to set up! Video quality is superb! Sound quality is great! It fits right on the countertop without taking up too much space! Very pleased with my purchase! I was in between this one and the echo show 5 and I'm so glad we went with this bigger one instead of the 5! We use it every day and it doubles as a digital picture frame! Love it! ... show more

  • My Daily Dose of Music, Magic, and Organization
Color: Charcoal Configuration: Device only
I use my Echo Show every single day. It’s like having a personal assistant, DJ, and inspiration board all in one. The sound quality is amazing for my neo-soul and Prince playlists, and I love how the display rotates album art or calming visuals while I write, journal, or clean. I also use it to set reminders, timers, and to-do lists, which keeps me organized without feeling stressed. I’ll ask Alexa to show recipes, play YouTube tutorials, or give me the weather while I’m getting ready. It feels like a quiet companion that brings a little rhythm and structure to my space. The screen is clear, the design is sleek, and I especially love using it at night with dim light and soft music. It is definitely worth every penny. ... show more

  • An Most Excellent Upgrade
Color: Charcoal Configuration: Device only
The new echo is really nice. I can tell it has a faster processor so it is snappier and faster on boot and in operation. *snickers* Our Alexa seems happier and chipper *chuckles again*. I had no problems transfering my settings from the last gen echo to this new one and setup was a breeze. It is soooooo nice to have a zigbee hub included at long last. I really need to be able to control my devices regardless of internet status.. I have yet to test this, but it seems the new Echo had no problems transferring both devices and settings. This edition responds very quickly and seems even easier to use than the last one. The one snag was when I transferred the WiFi. It tried at first to autoconfigure, and then I had to select the correct setting, but it remembered my config and logged in quickly to the 5G. I have had no problems operating this unit and it seems to be better about retaining control as the central unit. I actually quit like Alexa+ as she matures... She responds quickly, my requests are processed even mroe quickly, and is not making the mistakes from before nearly as often. It's actually made the system much easier to use. The sound is rather good as well, fuller and more rounded. Over all, I definitely approve of the new Echo. ... show more

  • The Echo Show 8 3rd gen is a worthy upgrade from 2nd gen
Color: Charcoal Configuration: Device only
I love the Echo Show 8. It just feels like a premium device. It feels well built, heavy and durable. I just upgraded two 2nd gen Echo Show 8's to 3rd gen, and I'm noticing quite a few improvements, including audio, video, camera, more control over smart devices, and a smarter Alexa, overall. Alexa gives me answers for things far quicker than I could get them if I was doing my own Google search. There's just so much that Alexa does for me that I feel like Echo devices are undervalued. If you are reading this review and you have a 2nd gen Echo Show 8, and you're here wondering if you should upgrade, I say yes. This is definitely a worthy upgrade, in my opinion. I have Alexa controlling everything from my sprinkler system to my lights, and it all works seamlessly. Also, I recommend signing up for Alexa+ Early Access, as Alexa is far more advanced in this mode, making for an already excellent experience. ... show more

  • A step up from a glitchy Show 5 -- but I don't like the new complex touchscreen gesture system.
Color: Charcoal Configuration: Device only
I purchased this Echo Show 8 to replace a Echo Show 5 which was several years old and had a glitchy screen. I waited until I could get a good deal during Prime Days. I love the bigger, bright screen. The Sound quality is much better (I assume because the speakers are bigger). It is in my bedroom right next to my bed, and is the Echo device I use the most by far. I decided to spend some extra money and buy a stand, and I'm glad I did. Set up was somewhat complex -- mainly the tutorial for the new touchscreen controls. I was happy that my existing routines all seem to work great with no adjustments. I use my Echo to turn on various lights (using smartplugs) in several rooms. I frequently use it as a timer for laundry, cooking, and as a reminder for appointments or things to do. I appreciate how much the screen dims at night when the lights are out. There are lots of features of the Alexa system that I like and use, but that applies to all Alexa devices. I fully DISLIKE the new touchscreen gestures system. While I could handle almost everything with a single finger and single touches on the Show 5, the new operating system for the Show 8 requires one touch to select something on the screen, then a double-touch to activate it. With a single touch, the button or item is selected and the Echo says what it is (like "Continue Button"). Then, it is annoying to have to do a double-tap to activate the button. What used to take a single tap, now takes three -- one to select, and two more to activate. To scroll, it requires 3 fingers, not just one. There are all kinds of complex finger movements and touches, some requiring FOUR fingers on the screen. That's just awkward and hard to remember. Even after doing the tutorial, I don't remember most of the controls. Thankfully, I use voice control most of the time. I suppose I may get used to it eventually, but I think it is more likely that I just won't use all of those complex touchscreen controls. Mine has a weird glitch -- it often looks like a part of the screen gets touched when I haven't touched it. Occasionally, Alexa will unexpectedly say the time and date, or act like I touched the News button, when I didn't touch anything. Also, it will often click as though I touched the screen, but I didn't. I don't know if this is a hardware problem and I should return it, but in the few days I've had it, this glitch seems to be happening less often. Just to put this review in context; I am a long-time Prime Member and Echo user -- I got my first Echo pre-release (that big, tall cannester-shaped one). I even made some suggestions for functions that were eventually added. I now have my new Show 8 in my bedroom, a Dot in my kitchen, a Show 5 at my office, and my adult son has his own Show 5 ... show more

  • Love it
Color: Glacier White Configuration: Device only
Really enjoying my updated Echo Show. The sound quality is so much better. I love the stand and the white color. Also the screen quality is really good. It looks great on our wall hire kitchen counters and was super simple to set up. The size is just right for us although some people might prefer a larger screen. ... show more
