  • Quite the cut-up
SPECIFICATIONS: I checked the blade for flatness with a top quality machinists square. The blade was flat across. The carbide tips are as wide as listed. However, no matter how I measured across the diameter, the blade was NOT a full 6 1/2 inches. Between an eighth and a sixteenth smaller in diameter. The bore was correctly sized for a 5'8" arbor and fitted perfectly on the saw. CUTTING: Remarkably smooth. I was wearing ear protection, so I couldn't tell by changes in sound when the blade entered and left the material. Relying solely on feel, I couldn't feel the change. The blade went through the materials so smoothly and easily that I couldn't detect when the blade was cutting. There was no irregular or odd vibration felt in the saw, indicating that the blade was perfectly balanced and not warped. CUT QUALITY: I tested the blade lightly. (After all, I got this blade to use, not to see what it takes to destroy it!) I mounted it on a 7 1/4 inch, 2 1/8 hp, 10 amp (VERY old) circular saw turning at 5,000 rpm (1,000 rpm below the manufacturer's maximum speed). The test materials were a 1/16" melamine sheet glued to a 3/4" plywood board and a length of slightly deformed 3/4" copper pipe (M hardness) with 1/16 inch walls coated with solder on the outside. I did not test it for steel. I made the first cut on the melamine freehand to establish the baseline. The board was solidly clamped to a bench with the melamine surface on the underside. I did not put tape on the cut line to prevent splintering. The cut was freehand (something I am very bad at doing) and slightly wobbly. The finish edge of the melamine was smooth and unsplintered. The rest of the substrate showed blade marks, although I attribute that to my wandering off line more than the blade. The board showed no burning. I then cut the tubing freehand. The cut off end was mostly smooth with some very slight burring and saw marks on the wall. That little flap of metal in the photo is the exit point. The cut off portion was knocked off the clamped pipe before the blade cut that last sliver. Again, the cut wasn't straight. Cut another piece of melamine to see if the metal cut had any effect. None. Just as smooth and clean as the the first cut. That piece was knocked off the plywood when the glue failed (30 year old board stored in damp location). CONCLUSION: I'd recommend this blade just for the speed and smoothness of the cut. I'd suggest keeping the blade away from metal if you are going to use this with the softer laminates and plastics. With non-ferrrous metals, I'd wager this will last a very long time. I'll defer to other reviewers for the consequences of cutting ferrous metals. I enjoyed using it. It's a real cut-up. ... show more

  • Best for non-ferrous metal cutting
We have an Evo metal cutting chopsaw that my partner uses in the forge. There are some projects, however, that simply can't be used with a big, heavy chopsaw; you must bring the saw to the work. This little blade on a 7 1/4 inch Skilsaw does the trick, and provides mobility when my partner needs to go to the jobsite to make cuts. He's found it to be a little sketchy when cutting quarter-inch mild steel. It cuts it well, certainly, but needs a very strong grip on the saw and a fair amount of experience to prevent kickback. On high carbon steel, the blade dulls too quickly, so we tend to avoid using it much on steels unless there's no other choice. Non-ferrous metals, however, cut like butter. He's used it to cut half-inch copper, brass, bronze, and aluminum. One caution: The arbor type makes this a little smaller than our Skilsaw, although it still works well. ... show more

  • Good metal cutting saw
I got the Echo Corner 6-1/2" Metal Cutting Circular Saw Blade for Ferrous & Non-Ferrous Steel to try out in cutting some metal. It works surprisingly well! I got through quite a few projects and it's holding up good as new. Would recommend!

  • Durable!
We got this blade for one purpose and one purpose only. To cut down bamboo trees. We've had an issue with controlling the bamboo and thought, what the heck, let's try it with a saw. My dad used his hand saw, with this blade and it worked great. He was able to cut the bamboo at ground level, to avoid 'stumps' sticking out of the ground. We are very impressed with how well the blade is holding up; as you probably know, bamboo trees have very thick stalks. The Echo Corner 6-1/2" Metal Cutting Circular Saw Blade has been very reliable and sturdy. If it can handle thick bamboo trees, we feel pretty confident it can handle your metal needs. We definitely recommend it! ... show more

  • Decent blade for the money. Time will tell if it holds up.
It cuts pretty well at the moment, but I'm curious how it will do in the long run compared to more well known brands

  • Works as hoped
Works great cutting through steel bars. First one I got locally that was rated for steel dulled after the second cut!. This one finished the job and is still ready when I need it again.

  • Works very well!
I got this circular saw blade to cut metal closet rods. It made a clean cut and worked really well. I had to cut quite a few of them and the blade still looks great. Overall, I am happy with my purchase!

  • These cut!
Very impressed but the cutting ability of this blade. Does not 'burn thru' metal like some of the discs I use but actually cuts.
