I used this item to make 6 flares for a DIY ducted heatpump install. The clamp holds the pipe securely without deforming it and the tool makes a nice flare and functions perfectly. I used a small amount of nylog on the mating surfaces and backs of the flares and there were no leaks on my first try. Flares passed a 350psi nitrogen test with no bubbles at any of my 6 connections and held a 200 micron vacuum over 24 hours. Tool is very heavy duty and is almost entirely solid metal. I would recommend practicing on a piece of scrap to get the flare length perfect but the tool itself is great. Included reamer is sharp and does a great job cleaning up cuts. I would skip the included pipe cutter and use a better one. While the cutter itself is pretty nice and seems durable, the blade was not nearly as sharp as the blade on the cheap husky one I had from HD and wanted to crush the pipe more than cut it. Its also rather large so a smaller one would be better for tight spaces. Overall a great tool for a DIYer at a reasonable price. ... show more

I used this CARVALAX eccentric flaring tool kit for a recent HVAC mini split install, and overall, it performed very well. The flares came out clean and uniform, thanks to the eccentric cone design and solid clamp alignment. It worked equally well on both copper and aluminum lines, and the 45° angles seated properly with no leaks during vacuum testing. The clamp accommodates both metric and imperial pipe sizes, which saved me the hassle of switching tools between jobs. The single screw clamp mechanism is simple and effective, though I’d recommend double-checking alignment before each flare to ensure perfect centering. The included cutter and deburring tool were decent, though not as heavy duty as the flaring tool itself. The carrying case is compact and well organized, great for transporting to job sites. My only knock is that it doesn't have 3/16th, and the handle could use a bit more grip texture it gets slippery with gloves on. Otherwise, this kit feels like it’s built to last and is well worth the price for HVAC or refrigeration techs. ... show more

This is the first time I did flares and no leaks. It did a very nice job, though instructions were a little unclear. It referred to an arrow that wasn't there to align the tools together. Any way, the ball goes on the side with the larger hole if that makes sense otherwise it won't seat properly.
